  1. Is this something a thorn might do to your finger when picking roses?
  2. I hope people new to Azamara (or to the bidding process) understand that you are bidding on a category NOT A SPECIFIC CABIN. Once your "upgrade" bid is accepted and you find out the cabin number, you don't have an option to turn it down. Your credit card will be charged and you may be stuck with a cabin you don't want.
  3. I think most people are unaware of the very small Renaissance ships that were identified with Roman numerals. This description from Cruise Industry News gives the details: "Eight small upscale ships were built for the first and original version of Renaissance Cruises. The 114-passenger ships were launched from 1989 through the early 1990s. The ships were simply named with roman numerals, going from Renaissance I to VIII, and with the first edition of the company going bankrupt not long after, the ships were literally scattered throughout the world and have been moving around ever since."
  4. The ship looks great. We look forward to our January cruise. I was sorry that there were no pictures of the cabins.
  5. We never book flights with a cruise line. And we aren't among those who have frequent flyer miles who can fly for free. We choose our own flights with the times we want, and our own hotels with the price we want. One extra night has always been enough.
  6. Because we have always enjoyed the Sanctum Terrace area on deck 9, we booked a suite for our upcoming January cruise on Onward. Then we read that access was no longer included. The suite was twice the price of a balcony cabin, and we didn't think that getting half again as much room for twice the price was worth it. I guess Azamara is within its rights to "uninclude" a previous inclusion - and we're within our rights to vote with our wallets. The savings will more than pay for dining in the specialty restaurants every night and unlimited internet - with money to spare.

    Heike Leaving!

Several years ago, an unexpectedly large crowd showed up for a one woman show in the Living Room featuring Tony Markey's wife Christine. Heike had everyone available moving chairs. And there was Heike, in her high heels, picking up and moving chairs with them. That said it all. Has anyone mentioned that Heike also speaks 5 languages fluently? She's simply the best, better than all the rest. We'll miss her.
  8. They did the same thing on our March Quest cruise. As longtime Azamara cruisers, we knew the M&M would NOT be the first day. SURPRISE. We missed it completely and so did most of the people on the roll call. The people who had private tours planned with fellow roll call members were very disappointed; they had looked forward to meeting each other.
  9. You have nothing to worry about. There are some people who just like to get dressed up. Most will stick with "smart casual".
  10. The video is easy to find. It shows clearly that all the short hanging space is gone. My tee shirts and blouses usually get hung in that space as well as my husband's shirts - when the fridge is in the corner cabinet. We don't want those things folded. When a ship is being refurbished, doesn't anyone who actually sails on these ships walk through a mockup of the design and notice things like this? I'm glad that our January Onward cruise is only 12 nights.
  11. Have you checked the web site?
  12. The challenge with being the second to use the machines is that the early risers start the machines and then go to breakfast. After breakfast they may go to the shore excursion desk and check on their tours. Then they decide to check their email. Then they run into a couple they know and chat for a while. Their wash, long forgotten, is sitting as a soggy mess in the machine YOU want to use. Do you throw their stuff into a dryer and leave it there? Do you put it on the ironing board? Throw it in a laundry basket? Decisions, decisions. With tongue firmly in cheek, I wish you a great cruise.
  13. We've found the best time to get a machine is when most people are at dinner. Sea days are the worst unless you're an early riser and get there first. All this being said, you'll find a time that works for you.
  14. Do you laugh or cry? What a mess. I'm kind of glad that we don't sail with Azamara again until 2023.
  15. Did the change in the embarkation port change the length of the cruise? I'm having trouble understanding why a change on their part would cancel your bid.
  16. If you're considering Patrick Watts' tour, be sure to look at the picture of the grass track terrain in post #8. This is not a tour for anyone with back issues. One of the men who went with us had trouble walking when we got back. It is a very rough ride. That said, I never imagined I'd be within inches of a penguin. It was an amazing day.
  17. Interesting. They usually want you to submit much closer to sail date. Is the OBC in your account identified as shareholder credit?
  18. They're stored by name and cabin number. Your bottle will be brought to your table anywhere you're dining.
  19. Read it carefully. It says "up to a 4 category upgrade" with an asterisk. Lots of T & Cs at the bottom of the page.
  20. Thanks for your quick response. I think I misunderstood your original post. I thought that they offered to UPGRADE YOU at a specific price. But it sounds like they offered you the OPPORTUNITY TO BID on an upgrade. Maybe you can unconfuse me.🤔
  21. Do you think you could give us a few details? In what category are you booked? What did they offer you - and at what price? Was the second email offer for the same upgrade cabin level at the same price OR was it a different offer?
  22. I think an answer to these two questions would help many of us who are trying to understand what's going on. Thanks for your help - and enjoy your cruise.
  23. I think this should be a new item on the main Azamara page. People need to know that management has come through with an incredibly generous offer.
  24. As one of the many who cancelled this cruise late, I want to thank you for your detailed review. We wondered how things had gone for those who chose to sail. I now know we made the right decision for us. The mask requirement would have been tough for us. Instead we sailed on the Azamara Quest in March (no masks) and had a great time. Our credit from Oceania has been applied to the 18 day Lima to Miami sailing in March 2023 on Marina. John and I are sorry we didn't meet you. Perhaps on another cruise on Azamara or Oceania.
