  1. Where are you resident ? Who are you booking with - On line or via a TA ? I've been sailing Cunard for years as a solo guest and always paid just under the full price for two (approx 175%) Britannia category, one pays a 'single supplement' I've two more Britannia category voyages before the end of this year and have only paid the additional single supplement .
  2. Solo guests in Britannia Category don't pay the price for two, they pay 175% , however in Grills a solo guest will pay 200%. ( the full price for two) I fully agree with you re the amount of OBC offered to solo guests . I have written to Cunard on numerous occasions re the amount of OBC I receive when travelling in the Grills ( ie only one amount) I have even suggested in all fairness that it should be pro rata . Before anyone replies with that old chestnut , "couples support the Bar Revenue", that is not always correct, often my onboard account is almost the same as the price I've paid for the cruise. 😉
  3. My goodness yes, they were certainly EVENTS to remember , I believe guests had the best of those Grill event invites which disappeared shortly after 2010 , especially the Afternoon Tea at the Governor's residence in Honolulu , I sure you've another photo or two somewhere. 😉
  4. Just incase anyone is confused with my pricing in the above post re drinks package , $70 pre paid in advance - $75 paid once onboard .
  5. You are not huge drinkers and don't drink wine in the evenings with a meal ? I'm afraid you have already answered your own question. It would be a ridiculous to pay $150 per day ( 2x $75) just to enjoy an occasional latte and pre dinner cocktail or two.
  6. There is no such thing as a 'Free Lunch', Gratuities on P&O have already been incorporated in the initial booking price. No different to other cruise lines that promote 'All Inclusive' .
  7. Yes, of course there will, Just like every other major Royal Celebration ( eg the Platinum Jubilee of 2022 or sadly the coverage of the funeral of the late Queen) Celebrations will take place across the fleet. There is no need for Cunard to advise in advance, it'll all be in the onboard daily programme on the day.
  8. Unbelievable ! I would have to be Drunk, staggering around Boogie Street in the early hours of the morning to be eating this Slop, and to think the QM2 (full World Cruise Guests) dressed up for this event . The UK events team responsible for arranging this shambles should be thrown overboard. However, Cunard have obviously pulled their socks up for the Queen Victoria WV event, now taking place in Dubai. 👍 Solent Richard can you post a couple of those Q.Vic photos please, that have recently been received on fb 😉
  9. The 'MAJOR' vibration problem that occurred November 2022 has been rectified , however, Queen Victoria (& Queen Elizabeth) have always had slight vibrations, noticeable at the aft of the main Britannia restaurant on the lower level .
  10. Yes the BC restaurant is open for lunch on all port days with exception of Embarkation Day at Southampton/Brooklyn. Unlike several other cruise lines, the main restaurants on Cunard are open every day at lunch time The only restaurant that is not open on a port day is the alternative restaurant Veranda.
  11. Bought mine several years ago @ £12 per a share (only bought 100) Have had my full return back in OBC dozens & dozens of times (including the occasional dividend ) The best thing I've ever invested in, fortunately my preference to sail is (Carnival) Cunard/Seabourn.
  12. Re Yellow Fever vaccination; As Lissie has already mentioned the Yellow Fever vaccination is now for life ( originally a booster was required every ten years) If you have already had the vaccination and still have a copy of the vaccination certificate then that certificate should be kept together with your passport which, 'On World Cruise Sectors' is held by the Purser department. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for all who pass through South America. There is a dispensation to the above who maybe over the age of sixty + Yellow fever is not recommended for the elderly, however, one is recommend to obtain a letter of dispensation from their GP. This letter is acceptable by the cruise line and the port authority's throughout South America .
  13. I'm with you on every count , however, I have a confession to admit in number 4 ! I'm afraid I do occasionally go without socks when wearing my smart Gucci Loafers , apparently it's all the rage .
  14. Look out for 'Transatlantic Fashion week Crossing QM2' hopefully these themed voyages will return soon . Pre covid these themed voyages were a huge success in its fourth year until 2020. They offered wonderful work shops for gentlemen ( and ladies) presented by well known celebrity names in the fashion industry.
  15. Open Dining was introduced when Cunard returned back to regular service post Covid. It is now here to stay along side the option of fixed dining .
  16. I wouldn't get too excited about it , I recently sailed on Silversea who are now promoting this. The connection to decent wifi was no different to what I've experienced on over 55+ cruises ( Cunard or Seabourn) It doesn't matter what hardware they would have us believe they are promoting , wifi connection will always be temperamental especially mid Atlantic, the Fjords or any area out at sea . 😉
  17. A halfway House to PG ! You all know I've referred to this soooooo many times on this board Whilst my preference is occasionally the Grills, there is also life outside .
  18. Please don't expect it on the day of embarkation , you will need to arrange this once onboard via your 'deck housekeeping supervisor' . Don't be pestering shore side in advance, the Pursers desk, or your Stateroom steward/ess . For anyone reading this post I'm referring to voyages of 90/100 + days when it has been known to be possible .
  19. Hi Deck Chair, you and I have met many times onboard QM2 (both seasoned Cunarders with a wealth of Cunard experience) Just to reassure you, drinks in the Royal Court theatre during an evening performance are still permitted and available, either from the theatre service dispensary QM2 or guests like my self who opt to purchase en- route to the theatre on the vista class ships from the Golden Lion Pub . No problems unless any future mask mandatory procedures limit this temporarily 😉
  20. Lets just get to the bottom on this topic ( we have covered this before somewhere) To clarify Alcohol is permitted to be taken into the Theatre across the fleet , it always has been permitted and will continue to be permitted, however, the only time it is not permitted is when 'Masks are a Mandatory Procedure' The above notification is from a QE daily program during an itinerary when the wearing of Masks were mandatory in the theatre . The same notification and procedure appeared in the daily program onboard Queen Victoria during one of those early itineraries I took post covid . The Gala Box Program onboard the two Vista class ships generate a healthy revenue for Cunard, this concept is still the norm when masks are not mandatory. In the mean time for those of us sitting on the lower level alcohol drinks are permitted to be taken into the theatre.
  21. I would certainly have expected those amenities automatically as it appears your cruise is or was part of the World Cruise ? It will be interesting to see if these remain without having to request them when Q.Vic/QM2 return back to regular itineraries.
  22. Britannia Category: Daily Newspaper is STILL available , however it is now on request ( Sept/Dec 2022) either UK or USA edition. Slippers are now on request. Robes are still available. Coffee maker is only in the Britannia Club category. Fresh fruit bowl is still on request - as it has been for the past several years. Storage for empty luggage is still available especially on World Cruises (request this via housekeeping) There has been no changes to Daily/Nightly Turn Down service or Room service. You should have no problem requesting an additional chair , I know someone ( travelling solo) on the Q.Victoria World Cruise at the moment ,who has had the double bed refigured into one single to allow more space in the cabin.
  23. I've never heard of this , if they do rest assure the corkage will certainly be more than $25
  24. Yes, the Coriander appears to be the most popular of all the alternative themed menus I was on Queen Victoria recently ( 2022) when Coriander was extended to four days and then repeated again towards the end of the cruise for another two days.
  25. The original Question was, Can we book the 'Lido Alternative ahead- on line before we board the ship' No, you can't book the 'Lido Alternative dining' ahead of boarding the ship. The Lido alternative menu usually rotates on a Three Day cycle however, this occasionally can be subject to change if there is no up- take of a particular themed menu. The daily onboard programme will indicate and confirm the Lido themed menu of the evening . There is no need to book in advance , you will need to visit the Lido on day one or day two and collect a print out of the themed menu's that are being featured on your particular itinerary .
