  1. I’m not so sure the Great Lakes are known for diving, at least that has never been on my radar are a certified diver. I’m hoping to see jelly fish in Antarctic!
  2. I’m got a cruise on hold for Jan 2025 and they want their money basically a year in advance. I’m not a big fan of it either, but we can cancel it up to September and only be out $100. I’m normally on Regent, but the cruise I’m going on - Regent doesn’t quite have what I want. It may be the only time we sail with Viking, because I also have an issue with paying them a year in advance. We will see what happens.
  3. Thanks for the quick response. There may be lots of wine flying with me.
  4. Did you end up on the waiting lists for anything? How many times did you get to land?
  5. Since, we are speaking wine and drinks. I just booked my first Viking cruise. We have been in Regent before. Is it correct that if I order a $100 bottle of wine, they will charge me 15% tip on top of it - same for any drinks we order? I’m expecting to purchase the drink package - does that change the tipping part of this?
  6. Looking at booking on Octantis and was also concerned that if I don’t book a penthouse, I will miss out on the sub and perhaps other excursions in Antarctic and the Faulklands. Do the comments above apply to these cruises, also?
  7. BYOTP? May be a problem for the World cruise, but it would gave you room for souvenirs!
  8. I’m happy to say, we have Andy bucks from our cruise down under this year! We had a great team!
  9. Very nice, Regent CYA note! I also like the comment about having your phone ready to use. It is amazing, someone will be spend 25k to vacation somewhere, but won’t turn on the international calling plan for $100 a month.
  10. Agreed, Regent may call it an Orchestra, but based on a definition of a band or orchestra - they are a band.
  11. Let’s think band here, I wouldn’t really call it an orchestra.
  12. I was all over the timing of this with my room attendant. I think he clued in the other room attendant and as soon as the other room left, our stuff was moved over. Our room attendant did some intros and we were off to breakfast.
  13. I have my padi card, but gave up scuba a few years ago, to much work, sometimes. As for the snorkel and age, if you can still swim and don’t panic - go for it. My husband had a panic attack in six feet of water, while snorkeling with me. He needed to swim 5 feet in any direction and would be able to stand, however he wanted me to save him. I wasn’t planning on drowning that day and screamed at him to jump in any direction and stand up. He finally did, I than marched him out of the water and he sat down on the beach. Needless to say, he doesn’t snorkel any more. I’m 64 and have done lots of snorkeling without a vest, noodle, etc with just my dive flippers. As I get older, the flotation will be added. Go have fun.
  14. They may have and it may be ok, it won’t be the best you ever had in most cases.
  15. MJ-Holiday —. each one in a crown royal bag with a note on its name. This made me laugh, I have been helping my mom clean out her basement and because of my dad, we have a pile of those purple bags. I can know put them to use!
  16. I had the same question earlier this year and the day of - a team of three guys appeared at 8am and basically moved everything into the new cabin and I watched. Off to breakfast and events off the ship that I had planned for the rest of the day. I will say that Regent really doesn’t explain this well anywhere and leaves you with a weird felling. You also can’t book anything on this day with them unless you are in the same room - those folks seem to have options. You won’t get those options until a couple of days before. Hence, I did my own thing. I really believe there is room for a better experience and this is something Regent can control, but hasn’t.
  17. Welshfamily - Barcelona is not that flat. Great walking, but depending on how you go, Parc Guell is up a hill, there is a ski lift that takes you up the mountain in the city and I can remember looking for a very local tapas place that required quite the climb. I would agree, do your own thing, it is great city for that and the hop on,hop off bus is useful.
  18. Loved following along and happy that Inga found her missing jewels! Hope you have another trip in the hopper!
  19. Find seats downstairs in the theatre - I tried about six locations upstairs and none them worked! The site lines are either looking thru glass, can’t see the whole stage, safety front bar in your view, the list goes on. Your granddaughter may be very useful on a trivia team - to have someone young for the current popular stuff. Ice cream cone at the pool bar! I’m sure they will have a blast!
  20. As a former DBA, I would love to know what is actually under those covers and if you are moving to something new.
  21. Inga, never disappoints to show us the proper way to eat a piece of meat! Keep enjoying.
  22. Funny, we try to make it perfect and than we get on the ship and end of changing the reservations because of a late excursion, someone not feeling well, really love the menu in Compass Rose that night, etc. Lol. - relax it will all be fine.
  23. I think someone took their shoe off (kinda) while eating dinner.
