  1. Looking forward to your posts. Although our next cruise is the voyager we are considering the Navigator over Christmas 2024. We have only been on the Mariner so far. Good to know about the Hilton. We travel with our adult son and daughter. These glass bathrooms are a nightmare particularly when we only find out when arriving at the hotel. Shower not so bad but have stayed in some where the outline of the person using the loo can be seen. Gross ……even after 42 years of marriage.
  2. This is because of the contract Regent has with the different airlines. For example, We can get Lufthansa flights before KLM. We fly from Manchester and avoid Heathrow as we have been very unlucky with shuttles with BA. Lots of cancellations.
  3. I love a porn star martini. They are made with passion fruit and are fruity and very drinkable. Not on the cocktail menu but happily and lovingly made by barman on the Mariner. Took a few tries for him to get it just the way I like them. What fun it was drinking the prototypes and once I gave the thumbs up they were correct everytime I ordered them from him. My husband loved the signature cocktail “ Voyager “ enough to book us a cruise on her next summer. 😁😁
  4. Flights are usually released some time after 290 days. We booked for August 2024 first week in September 2023. Outgoing flight was available in October return flights 16 days later. We are going for 16 days. TA gave me the dates when flights would be available. We always deviate and upgrade to Business class which gives us control over flights. Sorry not sure what happens if you just wait for Regent.
  5. I had a similar experience on the Mariner. I tried to order something ( ribs) from Compass rose at lunch for our suite. Could not get through to room service. As the Mariner is not a large ship I thought ok I will go down to compass rose and place an order either for Room service or if it was easier “ to go”. I was happy to wait. I had my kindle and was only planning to sit in the sun after lunch. Explained to the young lady at the desk at entrance to Compass Rose. She believe there was a problem with the phones which was being looked into. She told me you could not order anything from Compass Rose for your room via room service. Although surprised I ask for a table and could I have my order to go. No was the answer. I was unhappy as the restaurant Manager had told me the day before this was something to consider as many guests enjoyed eating in their suite after a long excursion. Our morning excursion had started at 7am. I sat, placed the order, drank a glass of water and when the ribs arrived asked the waiter could I take them to my suite. Certainly he said and fetched a plastic room service cover. The ribs were for my son. He was delighted. I am still puzzled.
  6. We received this letter prior to our cruise in August. No one asked for any COVID information. Whilst I don’t think you need any perhaps if you start a post asking if anybody anywhere in the world of Regent cruising has been asked for COVID Documentation you will have more information. Have a great cruise
  7. Have booked another cruise and am looking forward to a non eventful sundae. 😁 Unfortunately it’s not until next August. Schools don’t break until the 22nd of December so Christmas cruising was out and Regent have no 7 days over the holiday period. We already had a land holiday booked for Easter.
  8. Brilliant statement Techno 👌 May I add, on our August cruise my “Posh Frocks” stayed in the wardrobe and my summer dresses of various lengths were certainly smart enough. Any type of trousers with pretty blouses whether sparkling or plain, silk or cotton were definitely the norm. Think lunch with the girls in a good restaurant. The only exception was the speciality restaurant were about 25% dressed in their finery. Those who read my review will know how that went for me however it does enable me to say the Laundry on the Mariner is an excellent service. This should help with any desire to overpack.
  9. There was a large thread about this in the summer. Sorry do not know how to attach it to this thread. Totally agree. We were very disappointed by the cheap white luggage tags. We too, thought this tacky. We have a large collection of luggage tags from other cruises which put Regent to shame. The whole pre cruise experience was disappointingly plain received online as a print yourself etc. Now I know others do not care, prefer to have everything on Smart phones etc. However Wi-Fi can be iffy in some parts of the world and can cause issues.
  10. Our Mariner cruise in August had 1.a block party…..turned out better than we thought it would due to excellent neighbours. 2. A Deck BBQ….. never ever again we we attend such a dreadful “bun fight” nothing like Azamara or Oceania’s splendid parties. 3. A Deck Party ….. ok. 4. Sunday champagne and caviar. All port days so it must depend on the CD. We have booked again because the cruise was better than we have experienced with other companies.
  11. We too hope all cruising on the Voyager have boarded safely and by now enjoyed a good meal and several adult beverages. Lets hope the onboard experience relives the stress of all these changes. Hopefully Regent will increase their offer to you all.
  12. So sorry for your experience. Perhaps we have been lucky. However we too, always deviate. We flew with Regent flights with in Europe in August deviating and upgrading to Business class. Yes there was an extra cost. TA kept Regent on the phone until we agreed flights. Again for next August we did the same the moment the flights were available. The amount of air credit offered would not have covered the flights even adding the extra cost in. We would advise with any cruise company researching flights, seeing what’s on offer, adding deviation and any extra cost and coming to a decision when you have all the facts.
  13. Thank you Fudge, I have read your posts every morning to my husband, (after digging him in the ribs to get the coffee 😱). We have really enjoyed ‘sailing along with you. After many poor experiences we refuse BA flights were possible. Techno We live between Llandudno and Chester ….we must be neighbours 😁 Hope you enjoy your Japanese cruise.
  14. Again pretty low key. Didn’t see any sail away events in August…first Regent cruise… however we mostly left port when we were either enjoying pre dinner drinks or actually eating. Worth looking at your itinerary to see what time the ship leaves each port. On the Mariner Compass Rose had some great tables by the windows to enable people to watch as the ship left Port. On many cruises we have enjoyed watching from our Balcony with a drink and some nibbles. Both easily ordered from Room service.
  15. Thank you for starting your review. Pleased you got such good transfers. When travelling first class with Virgin Atlantic you get complimentary ground transfers with in a certain distance. Cannot give you any other details as we live too far away from the airport. Not sure if you would get this with Regent paying but perhaps they took that Ito consideration.
  16. I believe the Wi-Fi allowance changed with the introduction of the simply more. Before this If you went for cruise only here in the Uk nothing else was included. Wi-Fi was included with O- life. Gratuities are never included or given by TA’s in the UK unless there was a special offer. My point was cruise only is a good reason for selecting Oceania as it allows you to add on the extras of your choice, particularly if you don’t drink alcohol or take ship excursions. Now having experienced Regent we prefer the all inclusive model.
  17. We have only sailed with Regent once. We booked another cruise almost as soon as we came home. We were delighted to receive a discount on our chosen cruise because of the RSS past guest offer, We had no idea such a thing even existed. Far better than an onboard credit allowance in our opinion.
  18. We have travelled often with Oceania and enjoyed all of them. However the “simply more” has changed our view point. Oceania is a good choice if you are looking for a cruise only price. A. you do not drink or drink very little, B. You prefer not to use any ships excursions C. You have someone else (TA, more than 10 cruises with Oceania etc) to pay the Gratuities. D. You are happy to use self service washers or take all your dirty clothes home. ( one bag doesn’t accomplish much IMHO.) E. In some ports you are happy to pay for shuttles into the town. Although this seemed to be becoming rare All the above are chargeable on Oceania and included with Regent. consideration should also be given to the type of ship x class ships have very small staterooms with tiny shower. We travelled on the Mariner. We found service and choice at meal times better on Regent than Oceania. Although we are not heavy drinkers we liked the included drinks and the bar service was definitely better. The canapés were a bonus. We did half the excursions available …. this was our choice. My husband compared prices. We liked the all inclusive Regent. When all the above is added to Oceania’s prices the difference between the two cruise lines was not huge. We again booked Concierge as we wanted 4 devices per stateroom. We were delighted to see we could just connect our devices once and WiFi was available for the entire cruise. Ok it’s not all that good but neither is Oceania’s. Also Oceania give you a set amount of time. Comparison is difficult as both are excellent choices but we prefer Regents all inclusive model. All the above are included with Regent.
  19. We have just had a credit for the Sofia. Whilst we know it’s a reasonable hotel it is situated in a poor spot for visiting the sights of Barcelona. We prefer to walk around particularly in the evening. We have gone with a H10 hotel on Cataluyna Plaza bang in the centre. Close to all types of transportation Metro, hop on hop offf, buses, taxis etc, We will be there 5 days before our cruise next year so we have splashed out for a spacious room with a private terrace as we like to rest up late afternoon / early evening before dinner. There are plenty of good hotels in Barcelona. I would recommend some research to see what would suit you best.
  20. John Cleese, Monty python, Faulty towers sums up my sense of humour perfectly. We enjoyed the Mariner so much we almost booked again for next summer. However the ports were better on the Voyager and the ships look almost the same so we are Voyager bound next year. Would love to cruise more but school holidays just don’t fit for Christmas.
  21. Grey lady Goodness Where is the cruise going? We could all get together and post highlights of your ports to make up for the home Depot view. If you fancy the idea why don’t you start a new thread.
  22. Thanks all. We will get a quote tomorrow. Just looking for what to expect. We didn’t book onboard as there were no offers for next summer. Oceania give you a few weeks on return to re book offering onboard credit. We are stuck to school holidays, daughter is Deputy Head. New offers are good and quite generous hence our curiosity re back to back savings. Be happy with any extra discount even a couple of percentage.
  23. Can anyone help please. If you book btb cruises and take regent air is there an overall discount? What happens to the two flights and transfers you do not need. Both flights would be in Europe. Is there a ball park amount which is credited. Eg one cruise is cruise only. We have only been back for just over two weeks. Is there anything offered eg on board credit for booking again quickly. Our TA is not available until tomorrow and we are just trying to get a feel for an offer. Could be impossible questions therefore sorry. Thanks all.
  24. We left the Mariner two weeks ago and are almost ready to book again.. Just waiting for quotes from TA. We had a great cruise( I wrote a review)/ however we had poor service from our steward, not bad enough to complain, just niggles. We were on Deck 9. Two Concierge cabins. Please post if things improve and how. As we were Newbies and not really on board with what we should expect it would be great to hear someone else’s experience. Have a great cruise.
