Questions for recent Princess cruisers
cruzsnooze replied to vaschroeder's topic in Princess Cruises
That's assuming you want to keep the suggested gratuity at their exorbitant daily rate. I prefer to reduce them to a more realistic amount. If you are at a Platinum or higher level the wifi rate is discounted 50% and you can share one devise. -
Do they have sugar free hot chocolate? Packets maybe to make my own with the hot water from the dispenser?
-
It doesn't seem logical that if you pay a discounted price for a gift card that Princess would refund the face value. It that worked we all would buy a thousands of dollars worth of gift cards for OBC to be refunded via check.

PHS?

The tipping on a cruise is a rip off and the cruise company keeps a portion of it. When I tip at home I know who I'm tipping and why. The cruise is only a suggestion and can be adjusted down at guest services.
-
I doubt that. I think people are denied boarding because they don't have the right documentation IE passports. With ships having 3,000 - and more passengers they just keep going down the list with these offers until someone takes them up on it. Unlike an airplane which has a few hundred people to ask to change flights.

Full Suite, room service for specialty restaurants
cruzsnooze replied to gomoccs1's topic in Princess Cruises
Full suites do not get included room service anymore except for the breakfast menu you hang on the door the night before. I do believe room service for the premium package is a flat fee for the entire cruise of $14.99. I sailed in a full suite in Dec and did not have a beverage package so I'm not sure about the flat fee. I was quoted a fee of $5 each room service I ordered so didn't use it. -
Can't you adjust the gratuity at guest services if you want?

What new ship will come to Los Angeles in 2025?
cruzsnooze replied to KJL53's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Those sailings are sold out, I'm sailing on the Navigator in 2 weeks. They are a nice short get a way for those that live near the port. There is no need to even get off the ship in Ensenada except for a nice walk around. If the price is right it's like a long week vacation. I like the smaller ships so won't sail the biggies if they do port in San Pedro. -
Is there sugar free hot chocolate anywhere?

It took 3 days to get the credit in my personalizer via the email route. I took a black marker and redacted all but the required information before scanning and emailing a copy of the brokerage statement.

Refundable OBC and general OBC questions
cruzsnooze replied to cusematt4's topic in Princess Cruises
NON refundable funds from your folio are always used first. If there is no way to buy that $700 OBC buy a gift card for Princess (Satisfying your requirement to spend $700) from a store that sells gift cards. My supermarket carries gift cards. The gift card can be applied to OBC when you board as refundable. -
I do NOT tip on Princess shore excursions, I've paid a premium and the tour guides are employees of a tour company with benefits. I do tip on private excursions since I consider it more like a taxi where I tip.I have been curious about what others do so on my last cruise last month I watched people get off the bus. I saw about 50% of the people tipped and 50% did not so apparently there is no consensus. A few years ago we were China. There was a Princess recommendation for tipping the tour guides. We were on the land portion of the tour and got to know the guide after 5 days. I asked why in a non tipping country this was even brought up. He was brutally honest and said only you Americans tip and if you want to give away your money we're happy to take it.

Just Curious - What if we Never Leave the US?
cruzsnooze replied to handbellplayer's topic in Royal Caribbean International
your ports are an unincorporated territory of the United States. -
I would just book the excursions for the adults and show up with the baby in arms. The fact the baby gets nothing out if isn't legitimate for not paying, I sometimes get nothing out of it BUT the baby does not take the space of another person or consume any meals so should NOT have to pay.

Just off Navigator, decline continues
cruzsnooze replied to kevin1551's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I'm booked on the Navigator in February. I booked RCL because after 10+ Princess cruises I was disappointed with the decline in Princess Cruises food amongst other areas of the cruise. I was hoping RCL would be a better option and am going to go with an open mind but comparisons will be made. -
Just to add some more information full suites pay the same $5 where as it used to be suites could order from the dining room menu at no fee.

"For those of you who think so much of yourselves to berate the question , I seriously hope I never have the misfortune to meet you on one of my cruises. Haughty, self important people are such a drain to hang out with!" you put your question in a very negative way so got answers commiserate with your attitude. I wouldn't hang out with you because of your negative attitude. You didn't even consider some people would love something that didn't appeal to you!

Advice: Should I book with a travel agent vs directly with Princess?
cruzsnooze replied to dog's topic in Princess Cruises
A Lot depends on how much hand holding you need. I book with a membership big box agency that doesn't do much after taking your deposit and making the booking. If I see a fare drop I call them and they are happy to call Princess. In return I get a gift card of about 8-9% (of total fare) which I'm able to use. I do my own research before booking to see what cabin and prices are and they accommodate. -
Emerald Princess Penthouse Suites Aft or Mid-Ship
cruzsnooze replied to gvre's topic in Princess Cruises
I hate aft and always go for mid ship. Easier to go to any venue from mid ship. -
The correct deck is Fiesta deck 6 for the window suites. Reserve dining is also deck 6 so it's very convenient. There is no concierge lounge so no complimentary beverages. There is a suite/elite line at guest services so look for a small sign stating that on the counter. These cabins are very spacious and have lot of desk space and double sinks in the bathroom

Of course you should carry your purse and carry nothing less the $10's to tip every crew member who says hello. The rest of us know that we've over tipped if we do the daily auto gratuity.

I've never seen coach on Princess. Coach is one of my favorites. They have a lot of Guess and Brighton on the ships I've been on.
