  1. Actually on reflection... I checked back at the pricing and maybe I'm reading this the wrong way around - the price for choosing our cabin is the same as it was earlier in the week, so in effect, there is a discount of £21 to allow Princess to choose the cabin later.
  2. I noticed this for the UK site too this morning... for the summer cruise I'm watching it was only £21 more to choose a cabin now rather than let Princess do it, but still it's a new surcharge. Sneaky! And as wowzz said above, there's no refundable/non-refundable deposit difference here in the UK - all our deposits are non-refundable...
  3. Looking for some advice on the Island Princess balconies on E deck aft please. The Princess deck plans have special notes against these cabins - e.g. for cabin E706 "Special Notes: Balc Cannot Connect With E704 Balcony". When looking at exterior images of Island (like the one here), it looks like this is because these balcony cabins are separated by steel walls BUT it also looks like there are adjacent balconies that could have the divider opened up... So E706 could connect with E708 as they are within the same part of the steel structure, but not E704 as it is separated by a steel wall... We're looking for 2 adjacent balconies where we can open up the divider, but don't necessarily need interconnecting cabins on the inside... Could anyone confirm that these cabins can indeed have their balconies connected? And any other advice on Island Princess balconies is appreciated... Many thanks in advance!
  4. We didn't cruise with P&O between Dec 2016 (having been Baltic at that point) and Nov 2022 but were still welcomed back as Caribbean tier members. However, it's possible that 15 years could be too long so it's worth checking. It's definitely worth a phone call, as swanseaboy says above you might at least be entitled to onboard discounts and any other loyalty benefits.
  5. May is our favourite time for the Fjords, and our Fjords cruises also just have to be our favourites! The weather has indeed been mixed - we've had blazing sun and 28C in Olden and 6C with heavy rain in Geiranger, so just be prepared for anything! The waterfalls are magical at that time of the year as the snow is melting, do make sure to watch both the sail in and sail out of the fjord ports if viewing from your balcony, or get a good spot outside high up to be able to take in the full view. If it's later in May, then you'll notice it doesn't get completely dark at any time as you go further north. What's the itinerary? Whatever it is, I'm sure you would have an amazing time.
  6. It's 12 years since our last Aurora cruise and she's still our favourite ever ship... Looking for some advice on a couple of balcony cabin options near the tiered aft deck. C310 is a standard balcony that's the furthest back on the port side, D205 is a deluxe balcony directly behind the terrace bar on the starboard side. Has anyone on here stayed in either of these cabins? I read on another site that D205 has a steel surround which means having to stand up to get a proper sea view. We spend a lot of time on the balcony, so keen to get your advice please!
  7. Just have him take your medallion to the bar with him and I'm sure it won't be a problem.
  8. And according to the latest Annual Report published yesterday, the benefit has indeed been continued: https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/ef80ac8c-e40e-42ad-ba8e-62a02fb13d6d
  9. Latest annual report was just released yesterday and contains the shareholder benefit continuation as wowzz mentioned above: https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/ef80ac8c-e40e-42ad-ba8e-62a02fb13d6d I'm sure the shareholder benefits link Al_W posted earlier will be updated in due course.
  10. Did you make any changes at all to your booking? I think £100 is a standard admin fee for changes made after booking, for example if you asked for a different cabin. Like binman2 I see your passenger 1 price is £100 more than passenger 2. I've had a similar situation previously when I've seen a new deal for a cruise already booked and instead of losing my deposit, I've taken the £100 hit for the admin fee to take advantage of the new pricing.
  11. Definitely worth checking before buying if this is your thing. The Ts & Cs aren't 100% clear as far as I can tell... Primo Costa coffees are included, but freshly squeezed juices, smoothies and milkshakes are excluded. Gut feeling is that they wouldn't fit within the included category...
  12. If it's a summer cruise, I'd still expect there to be a decent number of other kids your son's age - but definitely not as many as the Med alternatives. We've taken our kids on a few fjords cruises during school holidays (both in May half-term and in August), and there have always been plenty of other teens onboard. And our kids really enjoyed the ports as well, there are lots of fun excursions available. Our Norwegian fjords cruises would rank amongst our favourites, I personally wouldn't hesitate to recommend it - but I suppose it isn't necessarily what all teens would enjoy.
  13. I’d call whoever you booked with and explain what you want to do, they may be able to transfer your booking, maybe with an admin fee that’s less than your deposit and with the same cabin. We’ve done this twice before with Princess, once with an admin fee (£100) and once without… worth a try especially if you want to keep the cabin you have. If you do cancel, it might take a little while for your cabin to show as available so there’s some risk there.
  14. Now I'm within the 90 days and my application for shareholder benefit has been approved 🙂 I did have to re-send evidence of my shareholding twice... The first time I didn't include an indication of the current date in the evidence I sent - so I suppose it couldn't easily be proven that I am a shareholder right now, but that was easily and quickly resolved. Thanks for the advice!
  15. So I would assume that if each of the 3 cabins had a different shareholder with 100 shares each, they would all be able to obtain the OBC - even if all the cabins were all paid for by the same person. But I wouldn't want to assume that without checking with the shareholder benefits team first.
  16. This might only apply to UK shareholders, but I just had my application for shareholder OBC declined because it was more than 90 days before embarkation, despite having just paid the full balance. It was 95 days before embarkation! So I'll wait a week and apply again...
  17. It took about 6 weeks for our FCC to be applied from our July 2022 Sky Princess cruise. We did get a letter while onboard telling us how much the credit would be and this was correctly applied. Hope you get yours soon!
  18. Like Sheila127 we were also irritated at the thought of having to do this - but once we tried it for the first time and found how easy and convenient it was, we were actually quite impressed. And we were definitely in the "club dining only" camp before this cruise.
  19. I was going to say exactly the same thing... We didn't arrive in Barbados until 10pm on our last cruise, so it would have been a total waste...
  20. This is great info - thanks for sharing!
  21. We have a B2B booked in May and all the Fort Lauderdale excursions on turn-around day are marked as "Debark Tour" in the title... However, when reviewing the Special Notes for those with FLL transfers inclded: **Although, this is a disembarkation tour, guests who are continuing the cruise (on LINK voyages or back to back) and wish to participate on this tour should be aware that the coach will first drop off the guests at the Fort Lauderdale airport then return to the pier where the ship is docked. I must admit this did initially put us off booking these excursions, but then I didn't realise how close the airport is to the pier and therefore only a minor distraction from getting back to the ship.
  22. $600 OBC in 18 months for $710 investment - nice! ⭐ It took us 6 years to break even! I'm surprised at the April 2024 OBC being processed too - I assume you haven't yet paid the final balance? I understood that OBC would not be added until final payment was made. I'm sure the benefit will continue to be extended in any case.
  23. I'm sure they won't and neither should they. Completely your choice and I agree with what Harry said too.
  24. One cautionary note... Shareholder benefit is not guaranteed to always be available in the future. Current benefit is applicable for sailings through July 31, 2023 with reservations made by February 28, 2023. There's no reason to believe that this benefit wouldn't be extended in the annual report (and it has every year since we got shares back in 2008), but it can't be 100% guaranteed.
