  1. The eMed tests are antigen tests. PCR tests are a different type of test. You would typically need to obtain a PCR test at a clinic, physician’s office, or pharmacy. The antigen test is not adequate for establishing day 1 for the COR.
  2. I can’t answer your question because, as @cruisestitchsaid, Celebrity’s rules are country specific. If you were in the US I’d say your cruise is covered under the Cruise with Confidence policy. I hope that is also true for those who booked in the UK. I do want to say that I myself have had treatment for a serious medical issue that caused me to be temporarily immunocompromised, so I understand your doubts about sailing on a packed ship. I wish your husband the very best as he continues his recovery.
  3. The way to mitigate the risks you so accurately describe is to wear a quality mask on planes, in airports, in cabs/Uber/Lyft, in hotels and in the cruise terminal. Don’t eat in restaurants en route. Get takeaway and take it back to your hotel (all masked). A quality mask is at least KN95 worn properly. Use OTC test kits a couple times the week before traveling so you depart having a reasonable assumption that you’re Covid negative. I flew to the port last October for a cruise on Edge and I drove to the port this April for a cruise on Equinox. I followed the protocol I listed above and I assure you that, had I caught Covid, it would have been on the cruises not en route to them.
  4. I’m so sorry to see this. Other cruisers who’ve tested positive while aboard have been escorted from the ship via a separate exit and driven to their cars. Procedures could be different on your sailing, but this is what has been posted recently. I hope you have a smooth disembarkation and trip home.
  5. Same here. My DH and I were just discussing AirTags😂 We’re speculating about how likely it is that we’d be able to track our bags that are deep in the hold of a ship heading to - say - Istanbul while we’re on a ship heading to Norway. Being geeks, we’ll certainly research this. All kidding aside, I feel sorry for the people who had to cruise without most of their luggage!
  6. @Arizona WildcatI’ve seen all the posts about staffing issues and Covid. Celebrity will continue to increase passenger load in order to remain solvent. Covid cases will continue to rise and fall. This is our current travel reality. I would give my loved ones who are in their 80s the courtesy of deciding for themselves, as they are quite capable of doing, the potential cost vs benefit of cruising now. The OP included a broad spectrum of questions in her post. She asked about both the MDR and The Retreat. Neither of us can be certain what she’s considering, so we’ve both given her information (and our opinions). Surely others will weigh in, after which it’s up to the OP and her parents to decide how to proceed.
  7. We were on Equinox in April. We were in an Aqua Cabin so we dined in Blu (very good to excellent) much of the time. We also had one meal in Murano (excellent). We had lunch in the OVC and Sushi on 5 (good to very good). There were some supply issues but they certainly didn’t ruin our cruise. We did notice staffing issues especially midway through the cruise (12 nights) because of Covid cases. We never waited a long time for meals or beverages, though we deliberately avoided the busiest times in the OVC. We did not dine in the MDR or Luminae, but we met several people who were very happy with Luminae. Though we encountered a few little bumps, we are capable of a little flexibility so had a very enjoyable cruise. I must say that despite some shortages, the crew was wonderful as always. I have a dad and MIL who are in their 80s and I would say don’t wait until next year if you can manage it this year. I’m confident that should you discuss any requests or issues with the Maître d’, they will do their utmost to help you make your parents’ cruise special.
  8. Yes it is. Especially when my TA refused to obtain my latest FCC numbers for me. In the past, she had forwarded the FCC numbers to me once she’d received them. This time I was told to contact Celebrity myself. Three hours and four different reps later, I had my certificate numbers. (Needless to say, I’m looking for a new TA!) All of us - including Celebrity reps and TAs) would save so much time if Celebrity would simply post our FCC numbers on our accounts.
  9. Yes I’ve seen those posts, but until Celebrity updates their website (as Royal Caribbean did several weeks ago) we cannot assume the b2b test requirement is discontinued. Initially I had hoped this was another instance of Celebrity’s protocol changes lagging Royal Caribbean’s by a week or two, but so far…nothing.
  10. From whom did you receive this information? Do you have personal experience? Which ship? According to the Celebrity FAQ, they are still testing B2B pax. https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/faqs I would love to see that change but thus far all I see is that some ships aren’t testing and some are.
  11. I’d assume the Luminae staff is busy prepping for meals. I would ask your butler for a cheese plate.
  12. As far as I know (having myself posted dailies and inserts here when writing cruise reviews) it’s not a problem to post them. Posting current assignments tells one nothing about future schedules. What may be a problem is posting future schedules of officers and crew who prefer to maintain more privacy. This is just my speculation. I assume that those who have a more public persona will post future schedules on their social media accounts.
  13. Interesting. We’ll wear ours anyway. Our next cruise adventure is a b2b and we’re hoping to avoid testing positive between segments.
  14. In general, masks are not required (except in the terminal). Be prepared to mask throughout the public areas of the ship - except while eating or drinking - if the Captain announces that masks will be required due to Covid positivity rate. On our April cruise (Equinox) we were required to mask beginning on day 8 or 9 of a 12-night cruise. We travel with our own KN95 and procedure masks just in case. We prefer them to the cloth masks provided by Celebrity.
  15. Same here. And though I’m not a large person, I don’t have dainty little sneezing fits😂 The funniest episode was when my entire office corridor went silent during one of my sneezing fits. When I had stopped, one of my colleagues called out, “Is everyone OK?” I have rarely laughed so hard🤣
  16. Since you canceled due to a positive Covid test, I would think you’d get your FCC back. It may be worth a phone call to check. Thank you for taking the time to share your CWC experience with the community. It is reassuring to learn that the process can be completed fairly quickly.
  17. I’m very sorry to see this. I hope you feel much better soon. I also hope your husband remains Covid free.
  18. Not exactly. I did not receive an insert on Edge in October or Equinox in April. We can conclude that some ships provide them sometimes.
  19. This thread was intended for Edge class ships, which would include Beyond and future sister ships. The spreadsheet has not been maintained since the tragic death of its creator.
  20. There was once a thread on which some of this information was posted, but it is longer current. Some Captains, officers, CDs etcetera post current and future assignments on their FB, Instagram or other social media accounts.
  21. The requirement is to test within two calendar days of boarding, not 48 hours, but I can see that an 0700 flight makes testing beforehand difficult. In that case, I’d complete the eMed tests at your Vancouver hotel or follow the suggestions made by @Northern Aurora
  22. We prefer completing eMed proctored tests before leaving for the airport. I order extra kits in case there are problems (such as losing call during before test completion or a defective kit).
  23. Lovely video. Reflection is one of my favorite ships. Thanks for sharing your beautiful journey with us!
  24. Celebrity has never emailed me the time and place for connection parties. Instead, I’ve received a card containing this information after boarding (usually placed in cabin by attendant the first day or evening). Tip: if you’ve signed up for the connections party but haven’t found an invitation in your cabin, check the bulletin board in the Guest Relations area. You may find the information posted there.
  25. The marketing emails often lag behind other emails when it comes to accurate CC points. I received the same email you did, and my total points displayed in the email was 3 points less than my actual total. The marketing team database must have accessed points accrued before our most recent points hit our CC account. If in doubt, save yourself time and frustration by logging onto your CC account to verify your points.
