  1. I think they are accepted/rejected about 30 days out. We are currently about 40 days out....will let you know
  2. The last time I had a chance to bid... you could bid for a Penthouse OR an Aft facing Penthouse. I bid for the Penthouse & got it. VERY happy with the cabin. A week ago, I made a bid for our cruise next month. The offer just said Penthouse.. Upon checking current availability, I see there are 6 Penthouses available and 1 AFT penthouse. I do not want the aft. I am hoping that would have to been specified differently;y. I do not want to with draw my bid because I want a regular Penthouse. Will let you know what happens.....
  3. We HAVE plus. Just went to order the Medallion today for a cruise next month. It wanted the $10. shipping so I cancelled & reordered to pick up at the port. Did a cruise earlier this year with no charge.
  4. I would assume they would be. They are in the "pool" for guarantee cabins. We wound up with ADA cabins twice when we booked that category. I do not care for them either. Not just the bathroom but some storage removed. Trade off is a bigger...to move around in...cabin & balcony.
  5. We just got back from a Holland cruise last week. We went to Cabo, Puerto Vallarta & Mazatlan. Had a wonderful time. Took the Hop On/Hop Off bus in Mazatlan. Had lunch at Pancho's in the Golden Zone on the beach. I highly recommend it !.
  6. I understand what you are saying. It is just that it was free before.
  7. You are right, just a bit petty I guess. I was just used to this being complementary on other lines & it caught me off guard. We are old & back from the days where there was no such thing as a pay restaurant, charge for ice cream, specialty coffee, fresh squeezed juice, etc. I am sure other lines will follow suit & also charge for the water. It seems what one line does, the others will follow. This is the new way of cruising but still the best bang for your buck.
  8. Is there a cocktail hour in the lounge ? Is it open 24 hours for coffee & tea ? thanks
  9. I know some people use a cpap & need distilled water. My husband has had several sinus surgeries & must use a medicated rinse every day that requires distilled water. We have traveled on many cruiselines & have never had a problem ordering that in advance to have delivered to the cabin ALWAYS has been complementary. I had forgotten to order for our cruise that leaves this Saturday. I just called Holland & they informed me they no longer do that. She checked my booking & said that since we have a beverage package, we can just order it every day & have it come off of that ! I know there are cutbacks but I find this one a bit petty !
  10. Lots of bad publicity lately. We leave this Saturday out of San Diego for our 7 day Mexican cruise !
  11. Now I really have confused myself :O) Just go PASSED the rocky beach but you have to go up by the restaurant & then over.a slight hill. You cannot see this area from the rocky beach area where the cabanas are but it is only a few minutes walk.
  12. I stand CORRECTED. The beach area I am talking about is to the RIGHT of the restaurant, not the left ! I am unaware of a service kitchen.
  13. Although I would have preferred the Royal...the Crown had the itinerary we wanted so we will be sailing on it in May !
  14. We were there last year. It is not a service kitchen but a small restaurant. It has plenty of outdoor seating. Not many tables inside but we were able to get one. It was very hot outside. The YC shuttle back to the ship stops right there.
  15. Once again for the nonbelievers...... The YC beach is indeed VERY rocky... BUT if you go to the YC restaurant & then to the left for a very short distance & then down, You are on a beautiful sandy beach. Indeed it is YC because there is a butler there to take care of you & free mats & umbrellas. We have been there ! But, there are people that still dispute this....fine with me because it is not crowded ! I think this area was created a few years ago by dredging up tons of sand. I guess it was possible there but not in the main YC beach areas because they had already put the cabanas there & it might be a bit too rocky to smooth out.
  16. Can you just send things out to get pressed ?? Thanks
  17. Is your cruise about 30 days out ? I have heard that is when most people are notified .
  18. Live right down the coast from San Francisco. I am OLD....this has been the coldest, wettest winter EVER with no end in sight. Have a sub pump under our house going almost constantly. We are going on a cruise next week out of San Diego. Booked for 2 days in advance but now it appears the weather down there is also deary.
  19. Forgot to add... on Holland, one night at dinner they gave you a Dutch Hat !
  20. Midnight Buffets Leather case for your key card Assigned dining with others Chocolates on your pillow No extra charge for fresh squeezed orange juice, specialty coffees or soda No pay restaurants The bingo prize was the amount they took in each game pictures were $4.98 for an 8x10 Real ice cream was free There were wine stewards in the main dining room
  21. We currently have a Vista suite & just bid on a Penthouse, then our suite would become available. A penthouse person might bid on an Owners suite....
  22. Does not make much sense to me... Then EVERYONE would get a credit...say $20. So the pay restaurants would just up their price $20.
  23. Thank you for this post. We sail in 2 weeks. I am getting used to seeing cruise lines charging extra for lobster but it would never have occurred to me that there would be an extra charge for soup & salad. I do NOT agree with that... I am OLD & remember back in the old days when there was no such thing as a pay restaurant. You were assigned to a large table with the same people for the whole cruise. Leisurely 6 course meal with pleasant conversation. Your waiter was the same each night so he knew what drink you wanted , etc....them were the days....
