  1. We were turned off last year on Beyond as well : - extremely loud music and speakers in Theatre, music and entertainment places with decibels way too high - annoying pulsating music EVERYWHERE, even where one just likes to sit quietly gazing at sea or with a book
  2. There were already bad vibrations in certain rooms in 2014 (like 9th floor port, before last banks of elevators). As my daughter was in early pregnancy, it made her even more nauseous. But since ship was full, no change possible. They just brought some choc strawberries, wine and flowers, which did not really help my daughter.
  3. When we had inter European flights included on Swiss in Eco we could not choose seats, not even for a fee. We tried calling and they said changes could only be made thru FBC. At 24 hrs check in we then discovered FBC had reserved the preferred seats with more legroom. And this was the case on the return flight and the next booked cruise as well. Very happy.
  4. Had good and bad haircuts on ships. It really depends who is serving you and how good he/she is, like in hairsalons on land.
  5. I could do it about 3-4 weeks before sailing. But that was in the good old days before covid and so much has changed since then.
  6. Nice. Do they still have the large golden fluffy ones ? Wish they would still do it in the Mediterraneum and other itineraries. We just take them from the pool (and return them of course).
  7. This practice of having beach towels supplied in the cabin stopped years ago. They might still do it in the Caribbean As we haven t sailed there lately, can t be sure about that, but on all other itineraries we were on since maybe 6-7 years ago, they don t anymore. In the earlier years of the S class, there were always 2 very nice thick beach towels in the cabin. I always wanted to buy some to take home, but they just took up too much space i
  8. Just saw mistake above : We were on Starboard side of ship beside suite (not port side). Keep mixing port and starboard up, same as my lefts and rights 🤭
  9. Have only been on Sunset Veranda on Beyond which is probably same. we were on deck 9 afjacent to suite on port side. I think balcony was same size as cabin to the left, big enough for 2 chairs and 2 loungers. Hoever was too hot to be out very long as balcony is mostly in the open and sun was fierce.
  10. Wish they would just show the correct price per person and not play this game of high prices which then get reduced by 75% or 40 % etc. Just looks more and more like a Turkish bazar where everybody except the very naiive knows the prices are completely inflated to give a good feeling afterwards of having “bargained them down”.
  11. Suggest you order car before. We stood in line for taxi ca 50 minutes long. There were a couple big ships that day and taxis were just trickling in very slowly.
  12. I think Lufthansa had a calender glitch in June. we had a return flight from Toronto on 11 June, arriving Munich on 12 June as per reservation, confirmation and online manage your booking. imagine our shock when we get email for checking in 24 hours before with same flight but with departure date of 10 June.as it would have been too late to still catch that days flight. Also online when starting check in processs still 10 June. Only after completing whole check in process and opening boarding card, it showed the correct flight departing on 11 June.
  13. From knowing Lufthansa and Star Alliance well and flying with them a lot, I would not be surprised that the mistake happened there (some miscoding) and would have been caught sooner or later anyway. LH is not into the business of giving away free upgrades - certainly not from basic eco to business. We also thought once that we were placed in Business, despite having booked Eco, but this was quickly rectified at the gate.
  14. European hotels usually do not have self-laundries.
  15. We visited Florida again recently. Prices (hotels, restaurants) up a lot, service non-existent or subpar. Worse was the attitude “take it or leave it”. Eg stood 50 min in line at Avis FLL with 1 counter open (despite AVIS preferred). Hilton hotel close to Dania Beach waited 25 min for drink to be served on outside terrace, then left after 2 friendly reminders if they forgot us. They were not even very busy, just chatting. Etc etc
  16. The only time I have ever asked for a topper (don t know if it was egg crate or not) was when we sailed last year on first cruise (after maiden voyage) on Beyond. Matresses were very firm and good according to my husband, but just a bit too inflexible (maybe too new 🙂 ?) for me. I like to sink in just that little bit. And on the numerous cruises we did on S class ships, I never felt the need for a soft topper and always slept well.
  17. We were on Beyond last May in Sunset Veranda 9th deck (can t remember exact nr, was just beside suite on starboard side). We do not remember any special noises, but were in Mediterranean with very calm sea.
  18. We encountered a lot of that in the middle of the ocean during our 2019 Spring TA from FLL to Southhampton. Seem to remember it was after we passed Bermuda, but can t be too sure about that.
  19. Last year same period the weather was very good during our Barcelona, France, Italy cruise and reached up to 26 degrees. People were definitely sunning and swimming.onboard Beyond. However nobody can predict how your cruise will be.
  20. Don t expect too much of the concierge. They now have limited desk hours (certainly not between 8 am and 8 pm, more like 10am to 12 am or 3pm to 5 pm on our sailing) and are not really available by phone either. Post Covid the Concierge took on additional different responsibilities and can not spend a lot of time on the Concierge job. I had a question on the next port and waited 20 min for my turn. Then she took about 10 min to google a map of the town center, printed it out to hand to me and that was the extent of her knowledge and assistance. We only booked a CC cabin because of location and it was very little $ more, otherwise it is not worth it.
  21. On Reflection in November and room attendant opened balcony immediately upon request. Did not even have to get tool, assume had whatever is needed ready in his pocket.
  22. Well in our part of Europe Celebrity certainly offers fares with or without perks (gratuities etc) included.
  23. Thanks a lot for info and tips !
  24. Yes, I speak German and am aware it is a German line. Just have not found any meaningful experiences here and wanted to find out how they compare.
  25. After 15 years sailing happily exclusively on X, mostly Aqua, we are now looking at alternatives. Main reasons : 1. Celebrity does not have good options to see Norway Fjords and harbors, Nordkap etc. 2. After Covid we found that our 2 cruises with X in 2022, although enjoyable, went down in quality and did not give us the feeling of being still so much better than what we could get elsewhere and we are now ready to try something else. We looked around for Spring/early Summer 2023 Norwegian fjords cruises and are probably a bit late for good choices. Oceania dates don t work for us due to earlier commitments. Postships Havilla and Hürtigrüten have very short port times, sometimes only 3 hours. Not sure if we want to try big ships of MSC, Norwegian as from these blogs might compare unfavorable with X. So it seems „Mein Schiff“ with various ships and possible routings seems to be left. As I can not find this cruise line in these forums, I am looking for some feedback, opinions here and comparison with X. Anybody can help ?
