  1. Any chance Arrivecan will go away? Not anytime soon. https://www.cp24.com/news/canada-extends-covid-19-border-measures-until-sept-30-including-arrivecan-app-1.5968651
  2. Nice to see those old junkers get scrapped and turned into something new again. Like Mufasa said; "When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life." So when I see those photo's think of a brand new cruise ship made from some of the recycled materials or a new electric car, or iPhone 22, or .... 🎶Nants ingonyama bagithi baba ... 🎶
  3. Crap, now I'm going to have to look for my caffeine fix somewhere else this morning. 😁
  4. Frankly, I'd have more pity for the doorman or waitress in Boulder Colorado who was tipped in Canack bucks than a doorman or waitress in Calgary Alberta who was tipped in Yankee greenbacks. Sure it would be nice if all American tourists who came to Canada learned a little about our currency and paid in Loonies, Twoonies and Canuck bucks while in Canada but that's wishful thinking. The U.S. currency is the defacto world currency (for now). Most commodities are traded in U.S. dollars. Lots of countries' tourist industries prefer U.S. currency to the own local currency. They don't prefer the Canadian currency. Heck the economy of California is larger than the economy of all of Canada. I gave up trying to convince my American friends years ago that the CFL was more entertaining football vs. their four down variety, and that the beaver is a much more noble creature than the bald eagle, and timbits are a much healthier breakfast option than avocado on toast. 😋 So, I can't get my Canadian boxers (made in Honduras and probably sold to the importer in U.S. dollars) in a twist if some American tourist wants spend some Yankee greenbacks north of the border. Heck, it's better than them spending those Yankee greenbacks south of their border!
  5. I love the smell of caffeine in the morning! 😉
  6. And @Jofah13 was very lucky. @Jofah13, you should buy a Lotto ticket or hit the casino while your luck is running hot.
  7. Just for comparison, RCL's Net Debt to EBITDA toped out at 7 times in the Financial Crisis in 2009. The 2022 estimate looks like more than 3X that. CCL's ratio in 2009 was 2.7 times. The 2022 estimate is 15X that! 😵
  8. My nephew and his wife live in England and went to a big music festival last night. Paul McCartney was the headliner and apparently played 9 Beatles songs as part of his set. I understand the tickets were quite expensive. I guess they really overpaid just to hear a Beatles tribute band. 😉
  9. Mick performed with the band for USO shows in Europe in May according to the official Foreigner band website. So It looks like Mick likely owns the rights to the Foreigner name, and as such, his is the official band. Even many of the old members of the band (the ones still alive) occasionally join this band for "Foreigner" shows.
  10. Those are two ugly charts! Back in the day Michael Milken would be hawking this one big time.
  11. OK, now that the paid shills for Celebrity and/or the posters who failed Economics 101, have all posted let's get real here. You are young. Celebrity passengers are overwhelmingly old, like me. Winked. Decrepit. Grumpy. And all we want to talk about is their grandkids and their 401(k)'s (Yanks' pension plans since you are a Brit.) Oh, by the way all the Yanks on board still hate you guys for some silly 300 year old tax on tea! And they will drive you crazy talking about some game they play called football where you don't really have to use your feet! Much better off if you take your cruising DEMAND to another cruise line that also has limited SUPPLY. Carnival and NCL cruisers would love to pay more for their WONDERFUL AGE FREINDLY cruises because you would be supplying more DEMAND by booking there. Updated Mrs. Dawg just came downstairs and told me she booked a Med cruise for us in 2023 and it's on the Beyond. So our cruise fare is all locked in. You will love Celebrity! Very friendly mature (ish) folks on board. Go right ahead and book now. 😉
  12. I joined CC right after I booked my first Celebrity cruise. I had cruised with Royal, NCL, and Carnival before that but wanted to step up to a better cruising experience and had heard good things about Celebrity. It was eye popping when I first started to read the posts in the Celebrity section of CC. We booked last minute so I couldn't cancel but I thought to myself; "I don't want to sail with any of these #$#@%$'s (fill in the blank as you like). Fortunately the actual people we met onboard were the nicest bunch of folks we had ever met on a cruise. Young, old, they were all really great. So either some of the posters around here are a very loud and nasty minority or people are playing #$#@%$'s on the internet. BTW, some of those same posters bought Tesla stock when it was $0 and tip their Butler $1,000 per day. Oh, and of course they look like Brad Pitt or Jennifer Aniston and have more money than all the Saudi Royal family put together! 😉
  13. Well, you might have gotten the sales clerk mad at you for wearing this... 😁
  14. I hope the OP gets their passport in time. Luckily my passport does not expire until 2027 but my Nexus card expires at the end of this year so the OP's post is very much appreciated and I will get that renewal process ASAP. Hey it took six months to get a new washer/dryer during covid. I just ordered a new car. It will be here in 18 months. Things are taking longer these days. We all need to plan accordingly.
  15. I'm sure it would not be an issue in border towns such as Bellingham, Niagara Falls or Sault Ste. Marie. but our Canuck bucks might not be recognized in places like Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, No Name, Colorado or Buttermilk, Kansas. Of course I'm not too sure the folks in Flin Flon, Come By Chance or Stoner, B.C. would be accepting U.S. bucks all that readily either.
  16. Vow renewal anyone? Thanks for the offer but Mrs. Dawg might not be too happy with me if I took you up on that. 😁
  17. On my first trip to Paris I went and saw the Mona Lisa. I went back the next day. Some things are worth a second look. Victoria is one of those.
  18. I'll wager the poster's metrics aren't Ben Graham's metrics. 😉
  19. Our last granddaughter came 10 days early. 🤬 Who do I complain to? (That was a joke. 😉)
  20. I don't care if any or all three of the majors go belly up or survive. I am only a customer, not an investor in these companies. If they go belly up someone will buy up the assets on the cheap and cruising will go on. It will likely be different, but cruising will go on. Now, I have owned RCL stock in the past, in 2020, but as a speculation not as an investment. Like going to the casino but without the fun. At the current price and all the 'sky is falling' commentary out there my spec senses are starting to tingle again for RCL. Not quite at the March 2020 level yet but this might be getting interesting. We'll see.
  21. The toll varies by time of day but it will be $40 - $50 from Hwy 35 in the east to Hwy 401 in the west. I use the 407 a few times each month for work and for bypassing the 401 through Toronto when we visit the grandkids in Ottawa. Well worth the money. My minimum on the 407 is 130kph - you just have to know the OPP's favorite hangouts. 😉
  22. I have not done the Skyline tour but it looks like it's only 30 minutes. Why not fly from Vancouver harbour to Victoria and see the skylines of two of the prettiest cities on the planet. Have lunch in Victoria and fly back to Vancouver in the afternoon. I have done this a couple of times on Harbour Air. Worth every penny!
  23. You are definitely better off sailing out of San Juan vs Florida or any other U.S. mainland port. We did a March break cruise out of Florida several years ago on Celebrity and there was a tonne of college kids even on that cruise. Royal Caribbean sails out of Barbados which would cut into Spring Breakers beer budget even more! Something to think aboot!
  24. Seems like a lot of husbands carry their wife's card and get her drinks. Mrs. Dawg carries my card and gets my dinks! ... in my dreams!
  25. Thanks @mikewomb for posting this. The grizzled veterans on this board obviously know all about this but it's good to point these policies (and updates) out because we can't assume everyone reading CC is a grizzled veteran. Some are newbies and can benefit from this. When I started cruising I didn't read the cruise contract or research the cruise line's "REFUSAL TO TRANSPORT POLICY". I just paid my fare and got on a boat (It took me a couple of hours onboard to find out it was a ship, not a boat). Luckily I was a student of history so I knew from the time of the Romans, and even before, ocean going 'passengers' had very little rights and the Captain was a god on the boat, sorry a ship. But everyone who steps on a ship won't know, or care, about these things so it's always useful to point them out. Psst. I'm teaching a first year university Finance course this summer and when we started I didn't assume these kids knew how to add 1 + 1, let alone do exponents. 😉
