  1. Very True! I wonder if any of us would be giving our bartender an extra tip, cash, photo, or trinket, if he/she poured us one of these? https://www.foodandwine.com/news/velveeta-martini-blt-restaurants-goldbelly 🧀+🍸= Yummy?
  2. The consistency of the responses so far has me worried. I am by nature a contrarian, I go against the thinking of the majority in most things. So being in the majority on this one is quite unsettling. Could it be that this Velveeta Martini is actually the taste treat of the century? The Tom Brady of cocktails? The New York Yankees of Martinis?🤔 Even though I hate to be in the majority, the more I think about it, and get nauseous thinking about it, this abomination is indeed the worst idea ever! It's the Washington Nationals of Martinis. The Johnny Manziel of cocktails! And the Carnival Cruise Line of taste! 😇

  4. When I was a PM and the head of our Team I was the highest paid and earned the most bonus dollars so our team member compensation resembled the Yankees - just scaled back a few zeros. I knew I never should have turned down Scott Boras when he offered to be my salary negotiator. 🤬 😉 That difference in compensation did not mean we were not a team. We were a team and each member played an important role. And like the Yankees some team members were most important to the team success than others and our compensation, like the Yankee's compensation, reflected that. I will have to go back and read what all the 'team' tippers have said in this thread at some point but I don't recall that they were advocating for equal sharing of the extra tips, just sharing of the extra tips among the various team members - there is a big difference between the two. So, I hope everyone tips extra as you please because at the end of the day none of us has any control over what the tip recipient actually does with our tips. They might keep 100 percent. They might keep 75% and allocated the rest among their team. They might even do a Marx and split it equally. Of course they might even pull a Stalin and keep 100% but say they split it equally. 😉 So we really have zero control over what they do with our extra tips. Just like I have no control over what pitches Taillon will be throwing tonight for the Yanks against the Orioles. I hope they are all batting practice fastballs and the Birds crush those damn Yankees! My Blue Jays need all the help they can get! 😁 But alas, I have zero control over that Taillon will do tonight. Maybe I should pre-tip him to throw only batting practice fastballs! But that's for another thread entirely! 😁
  5. I think I'd have to have a five or six plain old martinis first before I'd even try a real cheese martini. Lots and lots more to try a WHEY, MILK, MILK PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, CANOLA OIL, SODIUM CITRATE, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF GELATIN, SALT, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, LACTIC ACID, SORBIC ACID AS A PRESERVATIVE, MILKFAT, CHEESE CULTURE, PAPRIKA EXTRACT AND ANNATTO (COLOR), ENZYMES, NATURAL FLAVOR, VITAMIN A PALMITATE martini! Cheers!🤮

  7. I also posted this in the Celebrity section. . Apparently this is getting a lot of press lately. https://www.foodandwine.com/news/velveeta-martini-blt-restaurants-goldbelly This branded one is available only at certain restaurants but does anyone know if a cheese infused martini is available on Royal? And if they are, has anyone tried one? Would you try one? I ❤️ 🧀 but 🧀 in 🍸 somehow = 🤢 to me! But hey, I could be wrong.

  9. Very true. I might want to reward the team for exceptional service with this extra tip we are all talking about here. Not the regular auto-tip, mind you, an extra tip. But I have zero control over whether the person I give the extra tip to will carry out my wishes. Frankly, after I give the extra tip and express my wishes I don't really get my boxers in a twist if the crew member carries out my wishes of not. I'm not going to waist my valuable vacation time trying to police what the crew member does with my extra tip. Others who want to reward the individual for exceptional service with an extra tip also have zero control over whether the person they give the extra tip to will carry out their wishes. If they want to police their extra tip or not is their concern, not mine. The bottom line is that exceptional service is rewarded in some manner.
  10. My brother moved West years ago and says I'm not wrong about things too. Never I'm right about things, just I'm not wrong. Is that a Western phrase for everybody or just for us Ontarians? 😉
  11. So there appears to be a difference in approaches to tipping extra on cruise ships. Some like me favour the team/pooled approach or at least leave it up to the recipients involved. Others favour the reward the individual approach. Isn't it wonderful we have differences. Wouldn't it be boring if we all thought and did the same. And BTW for let's say a 7 night cruise, what are the actual extra tipping dollars are we all talking about here? For cruisers who normally take longer cruises simply scale down your normal extra tipping to a 7 night one. $100 in extra tips for the dinning room individual or team for a 7 night cruise? $500? $1,000?
  12. Chill and open up a Chardonnay. It was just a 😁 joke. Quotes from my Master's thesis on the world's best grape varietals will be identified with a 🎓.... ... followed by a 🤣
  13. Not very amazing at all. For most industries, the stocks of the various company's stocks move in sync with each other because Macro forces have the same affect on each company in the industry. The differences occur due to various qualities of management, gaining or loosing market share, and individual company financial leverage. For the cruise industry they all have similar weak financials (to varying degrees), fairly stable market shares, and the quality of management, based on reading the posts around here, seem to be equally as bad. 😉
  14. I managed money professionally for 30ish years and every time I got too greedy Mr./Mrs. Market handed me my head! Take the singles and doubles and the home runs will take care of themselves!
  15. Now that's a bad sign. Corporate Finance 101 says sell equity when the price is high, not low.
  16. Closing out your shorts is likely a prudent (and profitable) move. Congrats by the why. I'm not considering going long just yet even with some speculative 'play' money. The Macro head winds combined with RCL's financial leverage and the limited upside for the stock are making me take a wait and see attitude. I think the upside for this stock is limited because if and when the stock goes back to $60 or $90 per share we could see a huge new equity issue done to repair the balance sheet. That would be good for the corporation's financial health in the long term but it would also massively dilute the equity shareholders and limit the upside for the stock.
  17. No shortage Issue, Royal Caribbean just finally hired a decent head sommelier for Oasis! 😁
  18. Don't pass up becoming an honorary Newfoundlander! That would be like me turning down being Knighted by Lilibet! Wait 'till you meet some Newfoundlanders, you'll want to be an honorary one after about 5 minutes. 😉 Can you tell I have lots of friends from 'the rock'? The nicest, funniest folks on the entire planet!
  19. I didn't know Roger's developed the ArriveCan app. 😁
  20. I just got a pair of hearing aids late last year. Mine have a setting that filters out background noises in a crowded situations and I can hear quite clearly to a conversation. But the best feature is that they have Bluetooth built in so if I'm ever in a situation where I just want to tune out the conversation, like when my socialist SIL goes on and on and on about her latest crusade against capitalists like me, I can play my Spotify music 🎶 and leave her wondering why I'm grooving while she drones on and on and on.
  21. Just make sure you contact your friends early on. A friend of mine went to a resort where they had one of those newlywed/marriage games that many cruise lines do. My friend is usually quite reserved, actually very reserved, but he and his wife decided to 'let their hair down' and participated in the show. Hey, they were amongst strangers and no one would possibly know who they were. Wrong! It turned out his cousin was in the crowd and was quite shocked to learn where and when and .... my friend and his wife 'did it'. 😳 Needless to say, the conversations at his large family dinners were never the same again! So surprise your friends but do it before they get a chance to 'let their hair down'.
  22. I spit my coffee all over my keyboard when I read your post just now. You win the Groucho award for this one! 🤣🏆
  23. If your Hubby is that freaked out over being quarantined on a cruise ship don't cruise this year wait until this thing is over. I hate, hate, hate going to the dentist and I freak out just thinking about going. That's why I don't vacation at my dentist's office.
  24. Liked - I was able to leave early. Did not like - It started. Hey, you asked. 😁
  25. Your way may make more sense to you but your way makes less sense to me. I learned long ago that no one is an island. In employment situations we almost always work in and depend on teams of other people to achieve our goals. When I was a portfolio manager managing pension and mutual funds I got the credit, or the criticisms, because I was the customer facing head of the portfolios and the final decisions were mine to make. But I could not have succeeded as much as I did without my analysts, the people in the back office verifying trades, the fund accountants doing all the accounting functions, the sales reps selling the mutual funds, etc, etc, etc. I have experienced the same when I moved over to University teaching. The team is not a big as before but my TA's, the Publisher Reps, and lots others all are part of the team delivering the high quality service to our students.(I rank really well in student and peer surveys 😉). But again, I could not do that without our team. So, I will tip the head waiter for example and ask him/her to distribute it among the team members who helped him/her deliver the outstanding service. As for stopping by the customer service desk. Perhaps I want to tip the wait staff more but I don't want to tip the cabin steward extra. So blindly increasing auto tips is not a practical approach. Also, those places can be zoos. I'm not going to waist my time going there. I'm on vacation. Your way is not wrong, but it would be wrong for me. So keep doing what you are doing. I'll keep doing what I do. Have a great evening.
