The least hassle imo is to arrange ahead of time for a car service. Either on your own (online) or through your hotel or TA. Less expensive but perhaps barely more hassle, in most cities you could also use a ride share app (could be a local brand eg in Bangkok or Singapore at the moment Grab works better than Uber) or in some cities you can easily get a taxi. You will need local cell service and data for the apps to work for you. The hotels that offer a shuttle may or may not be a good idea - once we stayed at a very dated Days Inn at Miami airport with included airport and cruise port shuttles. Old and crowded buses anyone? Although a very low price... O doesn't have a list that I know of and their hotel option is usually way more than you would pay directly to the same hotel reserving on your own.

Taste and smell are powerful senses that most of us don't understand that well. Plus our assumptions and what we see (visuals) have a big impact on our perceptions of taste and smell. Two examples - ask someone who's done dark-glass tastings how hard it is to tell the difference between red and white wines - it is quite difficult for most people, which seems hard to believe and yet is true.Or, watch at the next 'country fair' how many people get the match-the-spice activity 100% correct - hint, not many.

Seems like it is a good idea to call in if online tells you one of your excursions is 'wait listed' - in some cases this is what a cancelled excursion will tell you. That's what happened to us Aug 2022 for a Salerno port stop/Capri tour.

Similar experience Feb 19 2023. Although the announcement may have been longer than 5 minutes lol. I didn't time it but CD Leslie John kept warning us it would be a long announcement - although it wasn't bad at all.

Hey @Jayne E could you share the embarkation date of the Aug 2023 Riviera where they changed ports on you? We're looking at a Marina Oct 2023 with some of the same ports, trying to see when/if they update the online itineraries. Will help us decide whether to book or not, and after looking online I wasn't sure which exact cruise they did this to you on, thanks!!

If you don't have CFAR (or CFmostAR), yes agree try asking to change to another cruise rather than cancel. Or ask to leave the ship pre-Myanmar and join back again after Myanmar. At this late moment the answer might be "no" to one or both of those ideas but it might be worth a try. Others likely will have even better ideas!

I believe there was a first-timers party when we were just on Nautica in Feb 2023. Didn't know of one when we were on Nautica in Aug 2022. My info may not be perfect!

If we don't have a same-day flight we tend to request the latest possible time slot to disembark. Much less stressful!

Excellent overview! One additional thought - many miles/awards tickets cost no more to be done as 2 one-ways vs a single round-trip. This means you could book the outbound as soon as it's available and then the return once it is available. This approach may also give you more flexibility to make future desired changes (if any).

For Salerno, there was no shuttle in August of 2022. Nautica was at the 'Porto Touristico' dock, there is a terminal with a cafe but there was *not* a taxi stand, we ended up calling a local taxi service RadioTaxi Salerno

We put the robes on the hooks on the bathroom side of the bathroom door. To create extra space in the closet for a longer cruise, we swap out some of the provided hangers and use thin drycleaner hangers that we bring with us (the unused hangers can go with your room steward or hang out in our empty suitcase under the bed). Our most recent cruise was 10 days in warm weather on Nautica and no need to swap out hangers, we had plenty of space.

Last month we had a shared reservation on Nautica at Toscano and when arriving were asked whether we'd prefer a table for 4 or 6. Same cruise for our shared Polo reservation we were not asked for a preference and were at a table for 4. More than once on longer cruises we have appeared for a shared table and been offered a 2-top. Several years ago we were assigned to a shared table for 8 in Polo but that's the only time we've seen that in 11 cruises.

Marine-approved fragrance free detergent is supplied at no charge. I am soap sensitive and tolerate it fine.

Others may know better - I believe if you haven't yet done final payment that you can drop OLife. You might not have to wait until next time

Different airlines have different policies - the Barclays AA card luggage benefit is per cardholder, whether or not you used that card to buy the ticket. Well, as long as your frequent flyer # is attached to the record 😃 We've used O airfare a total of 3 directions out of 22 so far. Never say never and always check the math!!

There have been first-hand reports here by gay folks whose shared dining companions made immediate and not subtle excuses not to join the table for dinner. O cruisers are mostly open minded, but not all. Years ago our TA connected us to have drinks onboard with another couple that were also her clients. They were retired finance professionals and loved to travel, we were very much looking forward to connecting. It was a one-and-done, they were very vocal about ex-UK colonies going downhill after independence when people like themselves were no longer in charge 🤬

$25 corkage per DIY bottle in a dining room is not that high, it's toward the low end of land restaurant fees. The corkage fee includes wine service, glasses, storage & delivery for your bottle (if you choose not to finish the bottle at the same meal it is opened). Depending on how many glasses of wine you want at a meal, for two people you could get 2 meals/4 glasses for $25 total corkage or $6.25/glass ish. The DIY math makes more sense for bottles costing $20 and up imo, if you are trying to save $$ then skipping alcohol at meals or choosing OLife's wine-and-beer-at-meals package may make more sense... Ymmv!

Good points @ORV A cruise ending in Malta makes sense if you want to spend some time there. If you don't, a different final port may be a better fit. Or you could plan a few days someplace in Europe in your way back. We disembarked at Malta from Nautica in August 2022 and spent time there before flying home. We enjoyed our visit very much. It has indeed been unusual to find a nonstop back to the US and many of the connections through Europe are either tight or overnight. There are many options on routes (via Barcelona, Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, London, etc). We came back on BA through London with an overnight and change of airport Gatwick to Heathrow. I believe Viking in the past has sometimes chartered a nonstop US to Malta and back for their itineraries that start/stop there.

We are on Nautica Feb 2023 Bangkok to Singapore including stops in Cambodia and Vietnam. Both our TA and O have confirmed what @firsttimers68says in writing. I believe there is a form for Cambodia that we as passengers are to fill in and bring with us to give to O at embarkation.

On Nautica in August 2022, at the future cruise presentation - iirc the OCA said that on Vista the new dining area concept at the cooking class space would/could host wine dinners. Wherever they will be held, the impression was that Vista does plan to have wine dinner events
