Cash...

Obviously this will vary depending on the person...but if you want to gamble, tip some bartenders, etc. How much cash do you bring on a cruise? I feel like I'm potentially under estimating what we need....

As you said, it varies on the person. I personally, bring very very little for gambling. I like the slots, but am not going to put a lot of money into them, since it isn't a sure thing. The roll call for my sail date has set up a slot pull, which will cost each of us wanting to participate $15. This will be more of a social time with fellow CC members then anything.

A few weeks ago, I took about $75 in ones, and $50 in fives.....I spent 80% of this on tips etc...1 week on the Escape.

A GOOD bit more for the table games, but I got off to a rocky start, and quit when down $300 or so the first day or two. I just left it in the safe...

Nice to have the ones for tipping extra on the UBP...it works. They would always find the Bride and I when out back on H20.

The two things that you are asking about are the easiest cash requirements to figure. First determine how much extra you would want to leave the bar staff. If you have the UBP you won't get tickets so it needs to be cash. The casino is even easier. How much are you willing to lose? Put that aside and that is how much you take for gambling.

I am one of those that rather have more than less. I use cash for extra tips, taxi or bus fare and to purchase souvenirs. I don't take it all when we get off, leave it in the safe. I have never spent close to what I bring.

I take $100 in ones and at least $50 in fives. Those are used for tipping and for paying for small things off the ship (taxis, drinks, etc.). One year I brought less than $100 in ones and ran out -- and the casino wasn't willing to give us ones near the end of the cruise. Bring more -- it can always be spent at home!

For a 7 day cruise I bring $500 in 20’s 10’s 5’s and singles. I utilize the room safe and never carry it all at once for security reasons, and because I’m a big fan of tequila, which sometimes leads to poor financial choices. I normally will carry small bills while on the ship and save the 10’s and 20’s for when I’m in port. I’ve never run out of money, haven’t even gotten close to running out.

It’s worth noting that I’m a pretty generous tipper and I spend little to no time in the casino.
