We love explore 4

We just booked a cruise on the Maasdam for March 29 and got the Explore 4 option. We purchased the Signature Beverage Package for the last 3 cruises we have been on. We are excited to have it on our upcoming cruise. We booked a low category cabin, so for us, it turned out to be a great deal. Specialty coffees in the morning, a couple of bottles of water to take on shore, Bloody Mary's poolside, coke for lunch, before dinner cocktails, wine with dinner, after dinner liqueur, cocktails in the evening, and a bottle of water to take back to the cabin with us, and we usually book a Pinnacle Grill evening each cruise. We know what our bar bill will be at the end of our cruise, no expected surprises We love the program. Who else is with us.

We will have it for 30 days on the Prinsendam, too. We got used to our drinkies on the explore4 on the Maasdam for 42 days last year, and found it very difficult to give up our lunchtime mimosas on the following cruise (need that vitamin C, you know)! However, if the price goes way down after the promo ends in October, we will give up the explore4. We'll just have to do the math, and add in a few mimosas.

We got Explore-4 when we booked a 26 day TA from Athens to Ft. Lauderdale. After the explore-4 promotion was removed in late 2014, our cruise price dropped $600. But, we enjoy the same type of bar usage as you, coffees, waters, afternoon drinks, pre-dinner cocktails, a beer or wine with dinner, and a few after dinner in the piano bar. Hey... why not, we're certainly not driving !! 15 drinks per day/per person, now valued at $8 each, gratuities included, for 26 days.... that's a huge amount of money, well above the $600 per person we would have saved by cancelling and re-booking. And HAL just raised the drink prices on some ships to $7.50, up from $6.95. If you had to buy each one, plus a 15% gratuity, that's $8.62 per drink. The explore-4 promotion is well worth it. We will break even at 2.6 drinks a day, and I can guarantee we will have more than that !!

I've never had the Explore4 before but am looking forward to it even though I am not much of a drinker. I didn't have to pay any extra for it so it's a great bonus!

We're not big drinkers in our everyday lives, either, but vacation is not everyday life. If it was, we would be getting up at 5AM, eating cereal or a protein bar and coffee. Instead we have a wonderful, leisurely, cooked to order breakfast and don't worry about having to do the dishes. A nice specialty coffee with a little Bailey's in it is a great way to begin a cruise morning. Thanks Explore 4 for giving us this nice little perk at a reduced cost.

We love the SBP or Explore4.

Nice to have a specialty coffee in the morning, a bottle of water to take ashore, a cool refreshing beverage (or 3) by the pool, before dinner drinks, after dinner drinks and drinks in the casino. The best part is not getting a bar bill at the end of the cruise :)

We have Explore4 included on our next 14 day Alaskan cruise and purchased the SBP for our 14 night Holiday cruise.

Only 15 more sleeps until re turn to Alaska.

I just hit my "like" button. Cruise Critic really needs to add a like feature.

We have lost it every time the price goes down

LOL have to agree. When the price on our Oosterdam dropped about $11,000 on a 38 day cruise (which meant we would lose the drink package) we figured saving about $144 per passenger day was work dropping the drink package :). Like many, we love drink packages (have had them on Celebrity a few times) but one should carefully analyze how much extra they pay for that package.

I think for those of us who book the lower category cabins the Explore 4 promotion is a better deal. Our cruise figures out to be about $125 per day' date=' and includes drinks and a Pinnacle Grill dinner.[/quote']

We figure the Explore 4 Package is worth about $30 per passenger day,,,,based on our own previous history (this will differ for everyone). So if we decide to book a specific cruise and can get the package within that parameter then it is a good deal :). But if the cruise fare were to drop where we could save more then $30 we would quickly give up the package.

We booked an Alaska cruise for next year. When the Explore 4 was added, the price stayed the same. (I checked the booking price with and without the E4 and there was no difference. We also watched the cruise price for a while before booking, so I'm confident that it didn’t go up.)

So, for the same price, we got a $300 OBC for booking a suite, a Pinnacle Grill dinner, the drink package, and an evening in Canaletto. I realize that there's a low beverage revenue, no frills contingent to whom a promo like this does not appeal, but it definitely makes sense for some passengers.

Specialty coffees in the morning' date=' a couple of bottles of water to take on shore, Bloody Mary's poolside, coke for lunch, before dinner cocktails, wine with dinner, after dinner liqueur, cocktails in the evening, and [b']a bottle of water to take back to the cabin with us[/b], ....

On the Explore4 package, would this include a litre of mineral water?

Which bar would be best to pick up a litre of mineral water?

I am confused...I thought you had to book a suite in order to get the Explore 4 benefits. I am reading here that people booked a low category cabin and got the benefit....

I'm always hesitate to answer questions since many on here know so much more but.....looks like it applies to all categories on certain cruises. However, by booking a suite you also get 300.00 OBC and dinner at Canaletto in addition to the other perks. Hope this helps!

We originally booked a Neptune with the Explorer 4 and then got to,thinking about how much booze you would have to drink to make up for the price. Plus we do not like the Italian restaurant. We called the TA and asked the price without it and the price was reduced by $2000! We can drink a lot of wine for that price!
