adam61 Posted February 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2018 We are booked on a Grand Suite for Oasis next week. This is for our 10th Anniversary. From booking on board and the perks from my TA I will have Prepaid Tips, $200 RCCL credit and $300 from TA. And my parents also did another $300 to have some fun with that they just told me about yesterday. -We already have the Ultimate Dining Package, so Specialty Dining is Out -Tips are already prepaid -Excursions are prepaid -We don't really drink except the happy hours in the concierge lounge I had the concierge do the Anniversary decoration package for $75 just to eat into it, but that's still $725 OBC to use when we often use about $100-200 in a suite. What's the best way to eat though this? It's supposed to be fun, not stressful to have way too much credit!! :)
4merlurker Posted February 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Happy upcoming anniversary! If you don't spend it all you can cash out at the end of the cruise. You won't lose it.:D Have fun!!!!
Paulxyz2004 Posted February 18, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2018 The OBC from your parents is likely to be refundable. The OBC from your TA might be refundable as well, so that leaves just 200 from RCCL which I think would be non-refundable. The refundable OBC can be cashed out at the end of the cruise. The non-refundable can be cashed out at the Casino, though you´d have to pay the service charge for this, but still a good deal.
BonnieJB Posted February 18, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Consider making a large and meaningful purchase in one of the ships shops in honor of your anniversary. Perhaps a nice watch or piece of jewelry, or even a new camera or professional photos to help you remember the cruise.
molly361 Posted February 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2018 You can cash in your OBC at the casino with a 5% fee. I would not say that you want to cash in your OBC. Just tell them that you would like to take out XXX on your SeaPass card. It will say on your TV when you check your account how much is refundable and how much is non refundable The non refundable gets used first towards any purchases
girlsbgoing Posted February 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Book a spa day, I’d imagine that would eat up a good chunk of that $725. I also agree with making a nice purchase for yourselves. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Havin'fun Posted February 18, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2018 A spa day and a nice gift from one of the shops sounds like the way to go.
yuvraj Posted February 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 18, 2018 I would spend some of it in the Spa. The rest, I would use my seapass to play at the casino taking the 5% charge. On board shopping plus art auction would be 2 other areas you could use your OBC. Any cash remaining (withdrawn at casino) I would keep.

Clarea Posted February 18, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Did you use OBC to purchase the Ultimate Dining Package? If not, then you could cancel that (getting a refund to your credit card) and re-purchase with OBC.

138east Posted February 18, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 18, 2018 You can also use OBC to provide extra tip money. Guest Sevices can give you a form you can fill out to add extra tip money for your stateroom attendant, waiters, lounge servers, concierge, etc. You can even group tip like "Concierge Lounge Bar Service Team" if you don't know each server's name. Why not get something that you can actually use once your vacation is over?
soremekun Posted February 18, 2018 #19 Share Posted February 18, 2018 I would remove prepaid gratuities and let the onboard credit deduct from your account daily. Was the ultimate dining package paid for with a credit card? If so, can you cancel and then buy with onboard credit? Same for excursions.

ARandomTraveler Posted February 18, 2018 #21 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Not sure but maybe it can be used to booked next cruise? No it can not be used for that I don't believe you can. What if they set up a cash account at check-in, then did the cash back thing from the casino, and used that cash to pay their balance from booking on board? Or do they ask for a credit card number now when doing the on board booking? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
cruisenfever Posted February 18, 2018 #22 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Any "refundable" OBC can be refunded on the day prior to debarkation from Guest Services. GS can tell you which OBC is refundable and what is not. You can also get a printout of your account from GS which will also tell you what OBC is refundable and what is not. charmed101 Posted February 18, 2018 #24 Share Posted February 18, 2018 Our last cruise we also had some extra OBC, we decided to invite another couple to enjoy a paid dinning experience on us. Sometimes treating others are as rewarding as treating yourself.
