drink package

For regular mixed drinks with standard (not "tippy top shelf" stuff, which is wasted in a "mixed drink anyway) expect to pay in the $10 range. Plus tip.

Here we go again....

I hate to have to join the group that keeps pointing this out but: You have so little knowledge about most items to which you respond.

Good liquor is good - by itself or in a cocktail. Bad liquor (well swill) is bad - always.

Try this experiment: order a "side car" on any ship (or any bar on land). What you'll get is some cheap brandy and triple sec along with citrus mixer. At the same time, order a "side car" made with Hennessy Privilege (VSOP) Cognac, Cointreau and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Blind taste test them.

Even someone who thinks Golden Corral is "fine dining" will be able to taste the significant difference.

In general, it's less about what the typical cocktail costs, and more about how many you are going to drink. If you are going to drink 5+ every single day, it may be worth it. If you are only going to average 1-2 drinks a day, it becomes less worth it.

OP asked about Oceania Marina.

The Oceania Prestige Package is unlimited spirits (as well as wine/beer by the glass) for $60/day including 18% tip. Only a handful of XO Cognacs and single malt Scotches are excluded. Of course, all other beverages (fresh juices, specialty coffees, bottled water - even Pellegrino, etc) are no extra charge).

If a passenger chooses the basic wine/beer at meals for their O Life complimentary amenity, s/he can upgrade to Prestige for $20/day.

As to the cost of a cocktail, it is reasonable to assume that many O passengers specify particular spirits (e.g., Bombay Sapphire for gin) and doubles (O basic pours are seldom more than 1.0-1.5 oz) in a cocktail. At "twofer" happy hours or O Club receptions, "make it a double" is often heard. That said, when the alcohol is not included in an event or provided as part of the Prestige Package and is ordered with a double premium spirit, one could expect the "retail" cost of that drink to be $25+\- plus 18% tip. Wine by the glass varies from approx $10-15 plus tip. So, a glass of wine at meals and a couple of cocktails per day otherwise makes the Prestige Package a true bargain for some folks.

Another nice alcohol practice on Oceania is the allowance to bring wine and spirits onboard for personal consumption in your cabin (wine okay for restaurants at $25 corkage including tip). There is an "official" 6 wine bottle limit for personal carriage. But, enforcement of that CYA statement in O's T&Cs would be a very very rare occurrence (if at all).

As one of the "group" who has pointed this out in the past (obviously to no avail), I want to thank you for your excellent post. :D
