Any news if/when NOS was able to dock in Galveston due to oil spill?

Docking right now.

She is docking now... waiting to hear what time we can board. The magic is right behind her. I've seen several posts saying that the Magic will not board tonight but according to the email and phone call that RCCI sent we will be onboard by midnight.

What a long day for you - did they say when they would be able to leave port?

Wish they did, but not yet!!! Hopefully, disembarkation and embarkation will go smoothly (LOL...doubt it). Just want to be on her having a drink( whatever is available that is)

It will definitely be interesting to compare how each line handles this situation. Obviously neither line is at fault so any compensation will be a function of how much goodwill each line wants to generate.

Someone on the Carnival Meet and Mingle boards said they were going to board this morning. I'm thinking they are doing this to help their passengers already onboard who has no place to stay for the night.

They did this once before. Giving people and option to either disembark or stay one more night in their storeroom s.

This is a sag time for Galveston. I was reading the paper about the spill.

Keep us updated on how you are doing out there.

Onboard. Took about an hour and a half to board. Very long line. Thankfully no rain. But I am very happy to be onboard last night. My cruise vacation has started. We boarded at just after midnight. All the people who support the boarding process and were working late could not have been nicer. Muster drill at 10 am and hopefully we depart afterwards. Late night and up early. I am on vacation and expect a nap today. :)

FWIW all of is an the Caribbean Princess have been stuck in port since Saturday and best case for us is sailing on Tuesday. The consolation is we are getting 100% refund and 25% discount for our next cruise and can still stay and eat and eat and eat on a cruise to nowhere

Wow, they were pretty nice to do all that. Sounds like great customer relations.

I guess you can treat it as a hotel with really, really good water front views (or really bad) depending on what's floating in the water.

A friend on Navigator just reported that they have canceled the cruise and they can stay on board the whole week if they so choose.

We are on NOS. they cancelled cruise. 100% refund, 25% future cruise credit. We can still stay on until Sunday and use as hotel room. All food and entertainment included no extra charge. We will probably stay a few days.

That is very considerate for both those that live nearby and would rather go back to work and use their vacation time later....and those that don't have flights until next weekend. I think I would stay for a few days and enjoy the "resort". I wonder if they will let you off and back on? I'm not sure I'd want to stay the full time when I could go do some things in Houston for a change of scenery (Space Center, etc)?

I was just saying the same thing to my daughter. It would be interesting to find out how they handle the " off and on".

The word from the ship is tonight, if you leave, no getting back on. But, as soon as they receive clearance from the port for off/ on privileges, we will be able to get off and on. Friend with us retired from Border Patrol, says it is up to Customs.

Everything is pretty much going to run as normal, except no duty free shopping and no casino. However, we drove from Austin. Thinking that Casino Coushatta is only three hour drive. Maybe time for a day trip from here!!! I was really looking forward to the cruise, already made appt to book the next one tomorrow. But, might as well make lemonade!!! I'm thinking of this as a very inexpensive vacation.

I firmly agree. If my husband and I were on this cruise we would stay and enjoy all that we could. :-)
