What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

I do not know if this factors into your well thought out theory. But my initial booking for a guarantee inside cabine was booked through Casino at Sea. I had a free inside cabin certificate that I earned from a land based casino. I was wondering myself, if a CAS booking had any influence from NCL accepting my bid. Hope we both have a wonderful cruise on that sailing!

I think it probably doesn't prove or disprove the theory. Its not about overall cost its about what you are offering at that moment. You are offering more even by a small amount. So either way I can't even fault them. They already have what we both paid or didn't pay so all that matters now is who is paying more. I also have heard the theory that resell plays into it which makes sense. Someone looking to book last minute would want a deal. Your original cabin is selling for 649 and mine for 899 BUT ppl are more likely last minute to jump on the 649 price. So freeing up an inside less than 2 wks out would probably have a better chance of selling than freeing up mine. I just think as frustrating as it feels on our end it is an understandably logical decision on their end.

Unless you know someone else on the exact same sailing that you know what exactly each other paid and when they paid along with with perks included and numerous other factors like even CAS rating, Latitude rating, etc etc etc. It's hard to put exact dollars to dollars because the price of the cruise itself can vary depending on when you booked.

I've seen it easier to just pay the difference if the price drops than worry about bidding. Depends on the room you booked and their ability to fill that room with a new booking. Even inside the so called no cancel time if they estimate they can fill your current room easier than the one you wish to upgrade to you might be able to upgrade and even get additional perks.

So we didn't get upgraded. We are sailing this Sunday 2/25/18 on the Getaway and bid the following from a B6 (large balcony):

H5 - $750/pp - Fair range

H6 - $1500/pp - High Fair range

H7 - $900/pp - Fair range

H9 - $750/pp - Fair range

We are actually super happy with our large balcony, so nothing to complain about... although it would have been nice to be spoiled a little bit extra :) I am logging off and going home to pack for my wonderful upcoming cruise which I leave for tomorrow!! Good luck everyone!

not accepting your bid must mean they got many many bids!

Not necessarily, I've been watching this 'late-stage' process pretty closely recently and they typically drop 'website' prices to within ~$250pp of the highest bid range $amount on that particular cabin category (example is Haven Courtyard)... and wait to see if someone bites. I'm sure plenty do... so you can effectively be 'outbid' by someone paying the new (slightly elevated but historically reduced) sticker price.

Early in the process they are playing a different game... accepting early bids that are either:

1. High enough that the amount is close enough to the average discounted price they can sell for after that date via website or bid.

2. Cost effectively get people out of a cabin they are pretty sure they can sell again and even solicit further bids from.

I have to say, the system is very elegant and very well programmed. Infuriating but brilliant.

Getaway 2/25

Bid $1000/pppp all Haven categories except 2 where the minimum was higher. All we're rejected.

Called NCL 2/18 regarding mini-suites as we had read conflicting information on the bed size. If we were going to bid we wanted to make sure it was a king and not a queen. The rep confirmed that the beds we're king size (incorrect). When we hung up we bid $315/pp as the size was confirmed.

We were just upgraded to a mini-suite. I checked the room and it's two that convert into a queen. King size was the only reason we bid on the mini-suite. We have a supervisor at NCL pulling the call but at this point I'm not sure what recourse we have.

Very frustrating.

bid on a mini suite for my upcoming Gem cruise 3/17 and it seems that all of a sudden every mini and every balcony are sold out. could this mean they are assigning or accepting bids now? it's only 22 days away! I placed a "poor bid" of $50 pp because we don't have our hears set on it but it seemed strange that all of a sudden practically ALL mini's and balcony's are "sold out"

I'm really sorry that your bids were not accepted since I would have thought they were strong bids!! They had 5 2bd suites available yesterday so I wonder how much people had to bid to get in there!! We will have an amazing time anyway :D:D:D

We had an inside from CAS on our Alaska cruise and didn’t get upgraded to ocean view or balcony. We bid in the poor range though.

Man, all these folks bidding a grand or more per person for the Haven upgrades make me almost 100% sure our $750 - $850 per person bids on various Haven rooms are going to be rejected. :(

We're on the Escape April 14th in a mid-ship balcony now, which will be great I'm sure. Just REALLY started jonesing for the peace and quiet the Haven offers after reading countless reviews about how chaotic the Escape can get.

Haha I’m on this sailing exact same category as you. And I’m not bidding high either [emoji31]

Yeah, was hoping we'd be able to snag a Haven room for around $4k total instead of $6k, but it appears that's not at all likely to happen. Oh well. I'm sure we'll still have a blast and a half!!!

I would be fine paying $6,000 for the Haven, but I have two kids with my so I would have to pay 10k. I don’t understand why, because I have kids sale free.

Sorry, but I can’t read 175 pages looking for an answer. First timer on this process. I’m in a group and just received an email with the upgrade prices. We have a B.B. on the Dawn and my list includes many categories higher, not just two. Can I still bid on the highest one which is 6 categories higher?

You can bid on anything showing, you can bid on all or just one. It's your choice.

You can bid on anything that's showing available to bid on.

The range may say a max for the range but the scale will start at a minimum once you move it. Higher the cabin higher the minimum bids.

The category thing is

Inside can bid to OV or Balcony

OV can bid to Balcony or mini

Balcony can bid all the way because on the newer ships the Haven is only 2 up from Balcony.

You are likely seeing the levels within the Haven because they are all different bids.
