Do you get emails from carnival?

No, i've actually never seen a place on the website to sign up for e mail alerts. Will go and check.

Edit:....Ohhhh! I see where it says "SUBSCRIBE" and a white box on the website....i've always thought it was a search box LOL.

How often does this sale come around? And is there anywhere you can go to get alerts so you don't miss out?

I was wondering the same thing, then I noticed that Carnival now accepts Pay pal (formerly Bill Me Later). I booked my cruise and my down payment is $300 and I now have 6 mo no interest to pay it off. For me it works as I did not have the full down payment at this time, but I did not want to lose the cruise at the great rate I was offered. Keep in mind you have to pay the balance off by the 6 mo to benefit from the no interest for 6 months. I hope this has helped you in finding another way to take a great cruise.

Thanks, i'll check that out. Seems like a good deal with 6 mos no interest.

A Google search shows last time Carnival had the 50 deposit was Sept of '16 and January of this year....so hopefully it's due to come around again soon.

With all due respect, if one requires 6 months just to cover the deposit, how can one expect to be able to afford the cost of the cruise ?

Get lucky in casino on deck 5 and play bingo on sea days are two of the solutions.

even if you subscribe the carnival email, they selectively send it out to very random people. I subscribe to their mailing lists, i get emails about the VIFP newsletter, i get the booking confirmations, etc but i never get any kind of marketing/sales email from carnival. my travel partner gets all of those emails and other sale emails that give a much cheaper price then i want to see on my carnival account

What is the point of a post like this?

A chance to look down their noses.

Everyone's financial situation is different and unfortunately not everyone is able to grasp that.

Thanks for the info. I subscribed to their e mail and will hope some sale e mails. I'll also Google every other day to stay on top of it and will ask my PVP to alert me if/when that 50 dep sale comes around again.

Thanks for your RUDE post. I enjoy $50 deposits. Allows us to book several cruises at a time.

I am not the person you asked this question to but since I might well have done the same thing they did I will answer. I am not wealthy although my income is in the top percentile of Americans. I try to pre-pay my vacations before I leave but over time. I generally plan a trip about a year in advance so that gives me time to save the money over time. Something like the interest free 6 month pay option with Paypal is exactly the kind of tool I use to accomplish this.

More power to you if you have enough disposable cash laying around to pay for a trip but some of us have to plan ahead and do it over time!

It was just an OPTION that worked for me for the deposit at this time. I will pay it off along with the remaining balance. I have plenty of cruises under my belt and I am not well off. I just know how to accomplish savings and take advantage of many offers to be able to cruise annually. AND, I don't mind passing the info along to others.

Cruzlover, your info was much appreciated and a great option to look into for those like myself who are on a budget and can only plan cruises at least a year in advance. It's nice for those who can just plunk down the cost of a vacation and sail away, but there are those of us who can't do that and we shouldn't even have to justify it to them.

Everyone's financial situation is different, and the way we pay or save for our vacations shouldn't be looked down on or questioned by others. I guess we're supposed to just waste away in out run down slums because we don't deserve to vacation!

Besides, Carnival is known for being a budget cruise so I have no idea why people like that are even sailing them. I would think Windstar Cruises would be more up their alley.

You are so right, everyone's financial situation is different and the exact reason there are so many options out there for everyone. I typically don't let posts like that bother me, but lately this forum is full of posters that should just move on if they cannot add helpful information. I come here to look for advice, as well as give it, and I have learned a lot over the years and appreciate all the savings and insights from serious posters. Happy Cruising to you cfr70!

The only thing I would caution you on is the what fare category you will be booking when they have the $50 deposit. If it is Early Saver, make sure you know all the rules that go along with that category.

Thanks for the advice. I am aware of the Early Saver rules and mainly travel solo so another main concern is snagging my favorite cabins well in advance (the aft OV ones with 2 windows, (ie. 2473 or 2474). These are my favorites and I always try and get them when sailing.
