Enchantment of the Seas-7/05/13

Recommended Posts

Just got off the ship and will not be home till tomorrow. Have compasses menus and lots of details. I took pictures at meals also so I can tell away. I spent 10 days in Orlando, 6 days in Miami and 3 days in Coco beach. I need help to know where I should post my hotel reviews. I can answer alot of questions on Disneyworld and all of their theme parks related to Disney. Spent 10 days there and have alot of suggestions with and without kids. Found awsome deals for disneyworld. I just want to share the wealth to all.

Will start my cruise review in next post

Languages - we sailed with you and had a great weekend. Hope you did as well. I am amazed that we were actually able to stop at Coco Cay given the wind conditions.

If you are talking about a pre cruise hotel - you can post it to the Port of Departure section of CC.

I am anxious to read your review

My Background-First cruise with Royal but have been on Carnival and Princess so I compare where I have been or what I have seen to this one.

So I forgot the sail in pass which I had filled out so I had to fill it out again. But we left our hotel at 10:30 AM and we were on our ship by 11:15 AM. We waited till the lunch in Windjammer was open and ate. We explored the ship and went to our rooms by 1:15 and unpacked bags.

Note: Until the ship pulls out and muster drill is done nothing else is open so you sit and wait and wait. They have some music playing and you can lay around and relax by the pool. None of the facilities are open though but swimming.

Also the lines for both priority and regular were the same. They did let the few priority people waiting to go before the other line of regular check-ins.

Overall: You really do not need to be the first on as you really cannot do anything when on. Not even settle in. Better with kids to arrive later. Now maybe check-in gets worse as day proceeds this I cannot vouch for.

Compared to San Pedro for Carnival it was much more organized.

Done really well and the food is positioned so there is no bog down. We were one of first few in the buffet though. They had a grill items area serving hot dogs hamburgers and french-fries.

Make your own salad bar and assorted fruits.

Soup bar-2 types of soup. Cream of Potatoe was one. With assorted breads.

Make your own sandwich deli counter with selection of meats and cheeses.

Carved real prime rib (one of my pet peeves for buffets), Honey jerk Chicken with Roumalade sauce and other standard buffet items.

Dessert bar had several items to choose from.

**They had a lot of items for gluten free diets and sugar free.**

Coffee, Tea, flavored water, lemonade are the free drinks of the day.

Windjammer buffet pictures below

COMPARISON:

Diamond Princess-better than Diamond Priincess

Carnival-Same as.

I DO NOT HAVE PICTURES OF OTHER BUFFETS AS OUR WATER CAMERA WENT BAD AND THAT IS WHAT I TOOK TO COCO CAY. BUT WILL DESCRIBE

All the bars were open, and there were servers everywhere. The gym was open, park cafe was open ( at 12:30), the Indian food area was open. The sports deck was opsn. The spa was open for tours. Chops was open for reservations. i did not notice if Explorations was open. There were a few playing ping pong, but most were enjoying the beautiful afternoon by the pools.

We were at the port about 10:30 and checked in by 10:45 and the ship started boarding about 11:00. We were one of the first people on board. We had a short wait for the Windjammer to open, It opened about 11:30 (one side only). I do not think the bars were open at 11:00 but by the time we finished lunch we could get pretty much what we wanted. The pool was pretty well rocking by 1:30 and Cafe' Latte-tudes & Ben and Jerry's were open by 11:30. The Park Café said (according to the compass) it would not open until 4:30 but was open for snacks when we walked by about 12:30. The rooms were not scheduled to be available until 1:30 but were ready by 1:15.

Shops and the casino not being open until sail away is normal for any cruise. I've paid for that first day, so we want to make the most of it, and usually arrive early. Hanging by the pool or wandering to explore is a great way to entertain yourself until it's time to leave the port.

Overall I rated this room a 5. So-so. I dinged it due to cleanliness.

Bathroom: When we arrived into the room the bathroom smelled horrible. Like old sweaty gym room. I kept the door open and by evening it was gone. If you shut the door though, the smell comes back. Rated as a 7.

We had a tub with the bathroom. Sink was so small. You could hardly use it. The counter space was so small that the bath items are under the sink. We had Bath gel, lotion, conditioner, and little soap bars. In the bath there is a dispenser with shampoo. A lot of storage nicks and crannies.. Bathroom other than smell was very clean. Watch the step down. It kept happening to me the first day. I literally would fall out of the bathroom.

Balcony: Rated 5 by cruise standards. Upon first look the balcony is beautiful. A lot of seating and a lot of space. Closer observation I found it to be filthy. Lots of cigarette butts and some type of hardware piece from the boat. Very dangerous if you had a small child in this room. Overall look was worn out and beaten. Could use a paint job for sure. Balcony had 2 tables 3 chairs and 2 lounge chairs and there was plenty of room to move around. See pics below.

General room: Rated a 5 due to cleanliness. First look room looked nice. But refrigerator needs to be cleaned. Had coke or coffee stains on the front and inside. The nite stand had a dirty que-tip in it. Gross just gross. One of the coffee cups had something dirty on it so I am not sure what that is all about. As well as the paper it was on. So first morning decided to pick coffee up from windjammer and cart it back.

Coffeemaker in the morning I poured water in and the water came out. It had a coffee filter in it so I think the steward set it up for us and I did not know. Nice. Coffee maker came with 2 more decaf filters. For reasons above first am on ship did not use it.

Storage space is really good. Lots of storage space. A lot more than you need for a 3 or 4 day cruise. Room itself could handle 3 people or 2 adults and 2 small kids.

Closet: rated 10 by cruise standards. Some homes have smaller closets than this. I was able to put a 29 inch luggage as you see in photo. Plenty of hangers.

Bed is smaller than a king but bigger than a queen. 4 pillows so that was nice. I looked at the bed linens and they were clean.

I know someone else complained about linnens. But ours were clean and freshly pressed.

Dinner: We had dinner in the main dining room on My time dining. I recommend making these reservations before you get on the ship because the line is long for those that don’t. It was Casual nite and I had the prime rib. My DH had the Salmon and the Pork chop. Both were good according to him.

He has sugarless desserts all the time. And had the strawberry charlotte

Special: Royal Carribbean does an excellent job of catering to special diets in the dining room and in the buffet They have items labeled so sugar free, low fat and gluten free diets have choices

Since Languages is having a bit of problems with posting some pictures. I thought I would post some of the cabin we had. It was one of the Royal Family Suites and I think it would sleep about 8. Two in the master bedroom (the one with the bathroom attached) 4 in the second bedroom (although I think it would be quite crowded) and 2 in the sitting area on the sofa bed. The sitting area came with a full couch and 4 chairs. The vanity was in the hall way and had two blow dryers. The second bath room was just as you came in the door and was the typical ship bath room toilet, shower and sink.

Master bed room - two closets - 4 drawers and several shelves
