we are sailing on the gateway 30/09 and 7/10 and we have not received anwser yet. I bet minimum 50$ each to upgrade from inside to balcony for 2 adult and 2 kids.

I hope i will receive anwser soon, because the gateway left a lot of balcony because hurricane season....

I should up $$ my bet ?

Just FYI-Getaway is the name of the ship.

How much do you want it? If you do win, you get a better cabin for four and only pay for two, which is pretty sweet. The minimum $100 bid means everybody who bothers to bid at all has bid as much or more than you. So presumably they will take all the higher bids for balconies before yours. And also OV bids may be taken before yours. That will probably fill all the balconies, but if not, dumb luck whether they pick your bid out of a big tie of low ball bids.

If it is worth more than $100 total to you, I’d bid more than that. If it is only worth $100 total to you, then you wouldn’t be asking. Good luck.

SUCCESS !

Sailing on the NCL DAWN 10/19 Quebec to Boston

At 80 days before sailing received invite to upgrade/bid.

Was in a 2 Balcony Owners Suite booked months ago for a reasonable low fare.

Bid on the Garden Villa (there were two available at the time) -

Bid 3 notches above the minimum bid -

Yesterday at 29 days before sailing received email - Bid Awarded accepted !

Also noted the other remaining Garden Villa is now occupied.

My former cabin also is now occupied.

We are sailing 9/23 on the Getaway this weekend. Finally received notice yesterday ~72 hrs before embarkation that we were upgraded to a B2 balcony from an IB inside! Our bid was in the poor range but the ship definitely had a good number of rooms left, likely due to hurricane season in the Caribbean. Super happy as it would have cost triple what we paid to get the upgrade outright

It would be very helpful if you told us your bid amount!

Anyone bid upgrade on 11/3 Panama cruise and have you had an answer yet? I know it can happen 2 days before but I watch the cruise and say a sell out of some balcony and mini suites which before had quite a few and was wondering if anyone got an upgrade or are there a lot of sales going on for this 14 day cruise.

It's just up-sell and Maroons will pay it when if, you don't bid you will probably be offer it for free. The up grade bid is the cost of an upgrade anyway. They put a minimum on it which is unfair saying it is a bid. I should be able to bid $100. I just ignore them and get offers for free upgrades on ships that arent full anyway.

Was looking for bidding info for last cruise got little helpful advice, I perhaps should have bid both for window and balcony, only bid on balcony $155 and was denied less than 48 hours before sail. Guess it all depends on information as to how much of cruise is sold, This type of information would be gold, any ideas?

I'm an NCL newbie... How did they inform you that your bid was denied?

You are doing dummy bookings frequently to see how the cabins (mini-suites) are filling up ?

What cabin classes are you eligible to bid on ?

Are they filled now or some still open ?

Those that are open are they in a desirable location ?

Has the fare dropped or increased - clues not necessarily a valid indication but when fares go up NCL

is anticipating filling the ship - fares dropping NCL is desperate and bidding upgrading looks good.

It would seem to be quite common on a ship that will sail full that NCL will wait until the last (2 days)

to maximize all the revenue they can muster out of moving guests upgrading.

Have I got a deal for you - for a few dollars more !

Good Luck - hope you win something to crow about !

Sailing on the Bliss on Oct. 13 headed to the Mexican Riviera. I was in the cheapest inside room( 2 rooms) I got the upgrade email in July and just got the acceptance email last week. I bid the bare minimum for a balcony $50 and it was accepted for both rooms I have booked! Looking forward to it!

Also on this sailing, debating whether or not to put a bid in for the haven. It says they are sold out but I have heard even if they show sold out we may have a chance for an upgrade.

I'm curious about something...

We bid on an upgrade, but the card we have on file was cancelled due to fraud. I just realized this today, and will update accordingly. However, I'm curious if anyone has ever had a bid accepted, but then lost out because their card was declined? I see that our offers are still pending, but the rest of our party has already been rejected. I can't tell if this is a good or bad thing...?

Did everyone in the party book the same category, and then bid on the same category upgrades all bidding the same price?

One group booked the same category and bid the same as we did.

One group booked a lower category and bid higher.

By chance are you at a higher Latitudes level than the group who booked/bid the same as you and got rejected? I've read that NCL also takes that into account when determining who does/doesn't receive accepted offers.

Since you haven't yet received a denial, I would call NCL about your credit card issue. When they processed our upgrade, I got an immediate text from AMEX alerting me to a charge by NCL. That was my first indication our bid had been accepted. I would hate to get an accepted offer only to have it reversed because of a credit card issue.

This is actually the first time any of us have cruised with NCL. I did update our payment method.

I am merely curious if they offer the chance to people to update their card (should they fall into a situation where they did not catch it, like we did), or if they simply deny the offer and move on.

An irrelevant question, but one I'm intrigued by nonetheless :D

Sorry if I missed in your earlier post you'd already updated your credit card info. Since you're the only one in your group that hasn't received a denial, then hopefully you're still in the game!

Both cabins were inside, casino comp cabins. 1 cabin bid $175, the other bid $225 for balcony and spa. Both awarded balcony. First email came at 2:15, second at 3:30 today. I am only stating comp room because that is why we bid low end of good. I hope others get it at a much lower bid 👍

You will receive an email if there is something wrong with your form of payment, at least that’s what happened with me. The email said something along the line that there was an error processing the payment and gave me a link to update.
