As part of the ongoing upgrades to Labadee, Royal Caribbean's private "island" connected to Haiti, the line has introduced a new attraction: The Dragon's Tail Coaster, an alpine slide-type offering that twists and turns through a mountainside forest. The ride, which is supposed to last from three to five minutes, reaches a height of 680 feet and tops out at 30 miles per hour. The cost: $35 for two people in a cart (max combined weight is 360 pounds). To ride solo, you have to be at least 12; those between 5 and 11 can ride with a parent or guardian.

Have you tried the ride? Was it thrilling? A letdown? Vote in our poll and share your reviews of the Dragon Tail Coaster.

I have never done this, but I just can't get past the price. I know my DH & DS would love to to this, but for a family of 3 to ride this that's $105!! Just for a ride! Not to mention spoiling a perfectly leisure beach day with the sounds of AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!! and WEEEEEEEEEE!!! It sounds like it could be fun, but the cost is excessive in my opinion.

I did the ride with my nine-year-old son; he thought it was a lot of fun. I thought it was just ok. The price was $35.00 for adult; child is free riding in same car. The 3 to 5 minutes breaks down to 2 to 3 minutes sitting in the car waiting for your turn, 1 minute going up and 30 second going down. One of the reasons we did this ride was that my son was just an inch to short to go on the flow rider and too young to go on the zip line. Maybe if they let you go on the ride a couple of times for the money I would recommend this, but for the money I don’t feel it’s worth it for adults.

It sounds like a lot of fun, but I am an opponent to charges on a private island.

The way I see it....a private destination owned by the cruise line is just an extension of the ship. I always thought it was ridiculous to charge for floating mats, and I think it is ridiculous to charge for the attractions.

The jet-ski excursion, sure. The parsailing, sure. But that's about it.

To answer the question, I think it's $35 too much.

They didn't have this at Labadee when I visited in January, but I'd be highly unlikely to try it on a future stop there due to the price. We watched the zip line while there and it looked fabulous. But we didn't do that either, due to the price. If you spend $100 or more at every port, you'll end up spending more on excursions than you did for the cruise, so I limit myself. While $35 is inexpensive for an excursion, it's a LOT for a three-minute ride. I just can't justify it.

We'll be in Labadee in Nov and while I'm sure my kids would LOVE to do this, to spend $105 for the 3 of them to ride for 5 minutes sounds a bit expensive to me.

Now if it was multiple times, or up to a certain number of times...say 5, then I'd be more inclined to pay for it.

We're going to be in Labadee next week and I may very well try it. I love roller coasters, but my motion sickness is so bad now that I can't normally ride them. However - with the patch on I won't get sick, so this may be one of those few times I get to enjoy a roller coaster!

Most of the Exursions are well Overpriced  Why should this one be any different. :D

The attraction is there for those who enjoy roller coasters and those that don't can as usual enjoy the beach in Labadee. ;)

The Casino is a rip off I spend $35. in one minute.:p

If I want to go to an amusement park, I will drive a few hours to Cedar Point. There is no way I want to hear loud screaming children all day when I am supposed to be relaxing on a nice quiet beach. I will never book a cruise that includes Labadee. It sounds like a money trap and no fun at all. $35 for a coaster ride? Tickets to an ALL DAY amusement park are cheaper than that.

We have a few of these coasters here in New England. One I've tried charges $9 for a single ride or $39 for an all day pass and that includes a trampoline and other rides.

$35 per ride is just way to much in my book.

Six Flags New England charges apporx. $55.00 for a season pass. With my hospital discount I can get it for about $35.00. The problem with RCI's pricing is that they don't exist in a vacuum. People see this kind of pricing and they can make know comparisons and it makes them feel like they are being ripped off. Even worse, people extrapolate to other charges, where they cannot really make any know comparisons, and just assume that they are getting ripped off again.

I think RCI does not do themselves any favors when they price like this.

You know what is really sad? There are some people who will spend that $35 on a 2 minute ride, but will haggle with the locals at the flea market for a $1 or $2. Do you know how many people in Haiti could eat off that $35???

Forget the ride and go support the poor people trying to make a living. My DH and I always do. We come back with stuff we don't need. But we feel we helped someone out that day,

For heavens sake, $35.00 for that??!! WAY OUT OF LINE!

I can go to Six Flags for that price and ride all day some REAL thrill rides.

$35 would be a real deal for an amusement park here in Florida.

Universal is $55 for a day for Florida Residents

Busch Gardens is $60 a day for Florida Residents

SeaWorld is $65

Disney is $71.10
