jjb415 Posted October 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2009 http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/index.shtml?epac Thanks for posting the link. Unfortunately it looks like it will be right around the Radiance and the Mariner next week. Well, my trip on the Radiance out of San Diego on Monday is going to be an adventure. :)
Desert Cruizers Posted October 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2009 jj please video tape your adventure. :D. We didn't have a storm going to Hawaii out of SD but we rocked a little for two days. It bothered some but most rolled with the punches:)
Texas Teen Posted October 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2009 It looks like this will be another fun week for Mariner of the Seas! :D And a complete itinerary change for the Splendor! Who knows what will happen to the other ships. Coralc Posted October 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2009 I think Radiance is sailing Mexico, not Splendour. Or did you mean something else? :D We are sailing on Radiance in 3 weeks. The storm will be long gone, but I hope there isn't a lot of damage to the port.

Texas Teen Posted October 18, 2009 #10 Share Posted October 18, 2009 Hurricane Rick is now the second strongest hurricane ever in the Eastern Pacific! Look at how well defined the eye of Hurricane Rick is! The eye is nearly a perfect circle!

SDPadreFan Posted October 18, 2009 #15 Share Posted October 18, 2009 A couple of things to think about for cruisers sailing next week (AFTER the hurricane). That storm surge near Cabo is going to bring up a lot of colder water from down deep. So this "might" have an effect on the surface temps in the ocean, IE the water might not be as warm as it normally is in Oct. It's also "possible" that snorkeling may be fairly crummy depending on how cloudy the water gets after the storm. This will also be dependent upon how soon after the hurricane passes that you are there. It may not effect it at all, but it's something to consider. Mazatlan & Puerto Vallarta will also feel the effects of the storm surge but to a lessor degree. It's "possible" their snorkeling will be less than pristene as well, but they should fare better than Cabo.

rubrrick Posted October 18, 2009 #19 Share Posted October 18, 2009 We were aboard the Mariner one week after the last storm dumped a great deal of rain on Cabo, and the only thing that we noticed was that, even tho there were no clouds in the sky, the air was extremely humid, and the high temperatures did not help. We were off of the ship for less than an hour before getting back aboard, very sweaty from the humidity and high temperature. It will be interesting to hear about the recovery from this one. We don't plan on getting off ship so we should be OK. ***
SRAFROG Posted October 18, 2009 #22 Share Posted October 18, 2009 I suspect you will not be going to PV, Mazatlan or Cabo next week. I was on the August 30th Jimena hurricane cruise. We reversed our order of ports, but made all ports. Hurricane Rick will be lurking over Mazatlan and will hit Cabo on Wednesday. Be prepared to go to Ensenada, San Diego. Mariner cannot go to Catalina as Capt. Per said on our August 30th cruise. Also possible you will be doing the swine flu run to the north.

Rick Rick, you trying to haunt Captain Johnny? :D:eek: Your comments about after last storm...remind me of earlier this week here after the cold front last weekend when some of it backed up as a warm front and it was hot and steamy here...almost like middle of Summer. Hopefully the storm doesn't do too much damage.
stp147 Posted October 18, 2009 #24 Share Posted October 18, 2009 Just as an FYI, got off the phone with RCI and the current plan for Radiance departing tomorrow is to go San Diego to Ensenada then Catalina and then LA. They should have final plans by 7pm PDT. It's gonna be an adventure!
