EASY....

 

Drunk dude on the pool deck that looks like this within the first 12 hrs of the trip & pretends that it doesn't hurt but he's truly miserable!

I always get a kick out of watching the interesting "tan lines" people develop on day 2 as a result of the above!!! :D

Other keys. The look of awe on their faces. Rushing around to try to do all of the things listed on the ships daily news letter. Loading up their plates in the buffet as tho it's their last meal. Always lost on board (which way to the front, back, odd or even side of the ship, or an old favorite, looking for their cabin on the wrong deck.

 

That is just a few. Maybe we can all find a few more. Lets keep the list going.

My personal favorite are the people that think the crew/officers, etc are truly their "NEW BEST FRIEND".

 

I have seen ladies "camp out" for the CREW DANCE (Celebrity cruise two years ago) to be "asked" to dance by a ship's officer.

 

I meet a woman in her 40's a few years ago who was taking the same cruise each month (NCL) in the hopes that a particular crew member would spend the evening again in her cabin.

 

I love the wonderful people who work on these ships and goodness knows I wouldn't have the patience to work that hard for so little....AND truly I don't know how they manage some of the "CRUISE GROUPIES".

We use the lanyards and we are headed for our 16th? 17th? cruise.I just purchased a lanyard from the Coach shop for this cruise. We still take photos of our waiters and wave the napkins even though we wish they didn't do this. We figure if the waiters can do it week after week, we can show them some respect by being "enthusiastic." It's a few minutes..no biggie. We pack less now than on our first few cruises. Our last two cruises have been started in Europe so the streamlining of our packing over the years proved to be extremely helpful and we found that we didn't miss having the extra baggage to lug around. We don't really worry about whether we look like a newbie and we love seeing folks enjoying themselves for the first time on a cruise. It makes us all remember our first cruise. When we stop enjoying the cruises, we will find another type of vacation. Just enjoy yourself. It doesn't matter if you're labeled a newbie or not.

I'm sure its probably been mentioned already but getting fall down drunk before the ship actually leaves port and throwing up all over everything.

 

Grabbing everything you see at the buffet when you get onboard and being overly loud at the first sit down dinner.

Just got back from our 7th cruise and we could spot a newbie that had NOT discovered Cruise Critic from a mile away!!!! We also saw lots and lots of newbies that were WELL informed and most made some sort of reference to CC!!! I always tried to help the newbies as much as I could on board!!! I remember our first cruise and had it not been for seasoned cruisers that took the time to help us out we would not have had as good of a time as we did!! So make sure as a seasoned cruiser that you try to help the newbies out and spread the cruise love!!!

Your comment is interesting. When it comes to Cruise Critic, most people I met on my cruises fell into two camps: knowing it very well, or not even knowing it exists. There were few people in-between. I ended up having nice conversations about it with both groups. Many a time, I gave the "not knowing it exists" people some good information, such as the late-night deck party they weren't aware of (and had a blast when they listened to me).

Just returned from a BTB cruise to the Panama Canal from FLL. One entertainer had a women on the stage and she had a bag. It did not dawn on me until later ... why the heck does she need a bag on a ship. One of the first things I do is put my wallet, keys, passport, anything of value (some people even put cell phones).

I just returned from a cruise to the Panama Canal. You might blame it on Apple & other mfg's who make tablets small & convenient. I connect on a need basis. Cruise co's help for with Princess I am Elite and Princess gives Elite 250 free minutes. You either use it or lose it. Plus you can get online & check several sites free.

My husband owns an IT company. If he couldn't stay "plugged in" on vacation so that he could communicate with employees and clients, he wouldn't be able to take a vacation at all. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to totally disconnect and leave it all behind on a vacation. Those that cannot are not necessarily "virgins" (in fact, we are far from it). Sometimes they just have a different kind of job than that with which you are apparently familiar.;)

 

Oh, and for the anti-purse people: I've said it before in this thread, I'll say it again... Carrying a purse doesn't make me a cruise virgin. It makes me a lady (usually wearing a dress with no pockets) that likes to have a few things with her at all times without hanging them around her neck or asking others to carry them for her.

 

Different people have different cruising 'styles'. Just because someone does it differently than you do doesn't mean they've never done it before.:rolleyes: And it doesn't mean they don't do it as well as you, either. Your way isn't the best way for everyone.:cool:

I love when I find a dress or fancy pants with pockets! I have a few pairs of capris with cargo pockets & they are cruise packing staples.

 

As for purses, I'm talking about those newbies who carry EVERYTHING with them everywhere. The concept of being steps from your room is not apparent.

 

Sure you have moms with sunscreen, books, hats, diapers, etc. But really, if you space out your activities well & take a walk to your stateroom, all you need is a crossover for your staples & to be hands free.

I also carry a wristlet sometimes with just enough room for my camera, my vitamin, some Chapstick, a mint & money for after dinner evening events & casino.

Everyone does their own thing. There is no right, wrong or best. It's what works for you. And that's what makes people watching so much fun!

And dresses with pockets - I've just recently (in the last year or so) started finding dresses with pockets and I too love it. I get so excited when I'm trying on a dress in a store and I've already decided I like it, then discover the bonus of POCKETS! Score!:D
