Dave Wojo Posted August 17, 2010 #102 Share Posted August 17, 2010 Note to self: Find out what song caused the trouble, and DONT REQUEST IT!:p Maybe it was Let's Get Drunk And Fight by Joe Nichols.
gometros Posted August 17, 2010 #103 Share Posted August 17, 2010 Susan and Chuck...switch to the Dream and go cruising with Mike and Laurie and all the crazies gang...They great and fun folks :)You'll have a ball!!! Back to topic...Glad Carnival handled this quickly. It's hard to separate who's who in these incidents. I'm sure some of the "victims" were part of the problem too. There's a thread on this board about songs that remind you of cruising... I always do a playlist of music that fits the cruise itinerary. Would love to know which song sparked this melee so I can avoid putting it on my ipod playlist. I believe it was this song: Not really :D But warning - do listen with headphones
lisamaesc Posted August 17, 2010 #104 Share Posted August 17, 2010 I was on the 2nd deck too! Those people were up and down that hallway RAISING CAIN about 3 am. My daughter and I saw them on the pier. A couple of the guys were concerned about going through the "security" (Mexican police with semi-automatic guns). I figured they had some drugs on them. Someone in the Gathering said a couple of people got arrested. I didn't see anybody get escorted by the FBI, but we did the self-assisted debarkment... lisamaesc Posted August 17, 2010 #105 Share Posted August 17, 2010 No you did not miss the picture. I have not posted it yet. I read that Carnival arranged transportation home. If this is the case, I am very dissapointed. I would rather they spent the money compensating the occupants on deck two, that had to endure a disturbing sleepless night! AMEN! I wasn't a happy camper being awaken to the yelling and cussing going on... It's my understanding that security used the video to determine who was involved because no one would fess up! I sure hope that Carnival didn't arrange for their transportation back to the US. One of those folks yelled something about going to Cancun... MustardStation Posted August 17, 2010 #106 Share Posted August 17, 2010 It definitely was more than 10 people. Honestly, it didn't bother me. Then again, I hadn't gone to sleep yet, and it seems I missed some action because I decided to chill on the balcony. And personally, I do NOT believe that the people who simply had to listen to them screaming should be compensated, even though I was one of them. Rare crewsweeper Posted August 17, 2010 #107 Share Posted August 17, 2010 I sure hope that Carnival didn't arrange for their transportation back to the US. One of those folks yelled something about going to Cancun... That would make sense because that's the nearest international airport. Getting there would be "fun" for these folks too. Not sure if there are commercial flights to Mahahual or the airport near Mahaual can handle anything more than smaller private planes. If not, it would have been a 6-7 hour bus ride to Cancun, in the heat of August. Hopefully, Carnival's "arrangements" were simply getting the bus and not paying for anything. Crown_Cruise_Mark Posted August 17, 2010 #108 Share Posted August 17, 2010 Patrick it was extremely dissapointing! The Miracle and Legend does not do a great job keeping kids out of the Adult AFT pools, but at least an attempt is made. On the Dream, there are 2 very crappy pools, paint peeling in the aft pool, and as much as I like the Deli, it has been moved outdoors to the AFT pool, and all day you smell steaming corned beef. The Serenity area had so much promise! Plently of nice lounges and a few nice jacuzzi's in this nice private retreat..but NO pool! What where they thinking! Does Carnival not realize how amazing Oasis of the Seas new Solarium area is? I know the price points are very different but they really missed the boat..I mean ship here! KFinTx Posted August 17, 2010 #110 Share Posted August 17, 2010 I hope the hooligans that were kicked off in Mexico didn't believe the people who told them they didn't need a passport. LOL! Oh, that would be the cherry on top of this cake. :D

I see something in between the rooms and camp carnival that is listed as "Bandshell" or something??? Anyone one know what else is on Deck 11?? thanks for your help! debee1015 Posted August 17, 2010 #115 Share Posted August 17, 2010 At 3 AM it's probably safe to say alcohol was to (or had some) blame or whatever but the bartenders have the right to cut them off at any time and refuse them service (but would you refuse someone service who you were going to see for the next 3-5 days or more? I think not). Carnival may need to talk to their bartenders about responsible bar tending and how it can impact their personal safety. And to say "Oh People from the New York area " in a that explains everything manner, some of us from that area (I'm from the better more New Jersey part :D) get offended by that, every state/area has its idiosyncrasies not every loud mouthed crazy person is from the NY area (although quite a few of them are I must say). newcruisertk Posted August 18, 2010 #116 Share Posted August 18, 2010 I was on this ship at the time of the fight and neither heard nor saw anything. The first I heard of the fight was on the local Orlando news on Monday night.

jandjfun Posted August 18, 2010 #118 Share Posted August 18, 2010 Anyone booked on the Dream for the future...i would cancel! SO many better options! The pools on this ship are an embarrasment and the lack of an adult pool as well! I LOVE the Dream. It has been my experience that the "adult only" pools are never adult only anyways! I would never cancel my Dream cruise because there is no adult pool. It is a beautiful ship with many many way more important things than an adult pool. I just read this entire thread and I have to say it is clear than human nature deems it necessary for us to "extend" the story. The "I heards" and "maybes" and the "it must have been"s can't be believed and really shouldn't be spoken. It only makes a really bad situation worse than it already is. Cruise_Dreaming Posted August 18, 2010 #121 Share Posted August 18, 2010 My friend dubbed it "the Walmart Special Cruise" and she was dead on. It is so easy for those that do not cruise or those that think highly of themselves to make these types of comments. Having worked at some very HIGH END resorts, I can atest that "cost" has nothing to do with "class." Lisa, this is the last time i venture below deck 6! I though the cove balconies where such a good idea! Considering the difference between deck 2 and deck 6 is only about $30 or so, I do not think the "deck level" has anything to do with this situation.
