This does make you wonder......

Is the name on the review, micsse, the same name that the person would use here on Cruise Critic? I just searched the list of member names, and no such person is listed. I wonder if this is just a review posted by a very angry and retaliative person who was extremely resentful of being told not to share his drink? Hmmm... have to wonder. Anyway, if so, HAL and Carnival are more than welcome to his nasty attitude and outlook.

So interesting to hear peoples reviews. Some clearly are just a negative personality, but they do add spice to life. I am reading these boards anticipating my first Celebrity this ciming MAy, and I cannot be more excited to be on board! I have cruised HAL and many Carnival, and so looking forwr to be able to try another cruise product. The diverse crew sound greato me. Part of the fun of traveling is meeting new people, both guests and workers and being able to expand your horizons.

I wonder what part of Carnival this man enjoys so much. From his review, it seems his complaints could happen anywhere, on any ship. Thanks to all the positive feedback from the Celebrity cruisers to help keep things in perspective. I cannot wait to try this line!

Cheers all!

Ok, now I'm gonna have to go read this obnoxious review for the ship I am meeting for the first time tomorrow morning. NOTHING anybody says will dampen this girls spirit...I am anticipating a fabulous week on the Eclipse...and for what it's worth, I booked this cruise as a Christmas present for my husband who is a die hard RCI fan, and I just know he is gonna love Celebrity. This will be cruise #27 for me, and I have never had a bad one yet....7 days on any ship is better than 7 days at work!!! Bon Voyage.

I know you will have a wonderful time. She is a lovely ship:)

I read the review and the reviewer did not like anything.

When you look at the ratings he gave it I think it averaged out to a 1.5:rolleyes:

I pretty much thought the review was bogus. It was funny but just too over the top to be authentic. Something about the writer's personality just doesn't scream, "tuxedo at dinner" to me. I'm thinking more cut off shorts and flip-flops.

Haha. Good point!!

Another Negative Nell just posted her review for Equinox. Surely her experience was not as bad as she makes it out to be! You've got to wonder what else is going on in these people's lives to cause such discord on a holiday.

I always roll my eyes when I read reviews (or even posts) where everything is negative.

I understand loving one cruiseline and notr liking another too much, but nothing is always completely positiveor negative.

Of course you will encounter a crew member who isn't all smilie. Damn, I am not smiling every single moment when I'm at work. They are humans, not robots (and I found the "individuals" used in the review rather condescending)

And of course every once in a while a steak will no be cooked the way you like it or so. I know when I cook something myself, it doesn't always turn out well, and I don't have to cook for hundreds of people at once.

It'sone thing to enjoy a specific brand, but it's something else to be so narrow-minded black/ white

I read that one too.:eek:...why did her husband choose not to sleep

in the bed?

I scrolled over the review section for each ship. Looks to me like there

are about 26 per page. Out of those it looks like about 24 people have

issued 4 to 5 stars while there are 2 people (on the average) that had

horrible cruises where they have given 1 to 2 stars.......

I guess out of 26 you are going to find 2 people who absolutely

hated their cruise......oh well.

I just read this latest Equinox rating. This one isn't even funny. It's just plain sad. Some people shouldn't go on cruises. They should stay home, take their kids to 6 Flags, eat at McDonalds, and sleep in their own beds.

Oh, and by all means please make sure there isn't actually any rough sea water any where near MY cruises when I go. I mean it's a hotel right? Not a ship at sea! (I'm rolling my eyes here and thinking I need to stop reading these things).

The sad fact in all of this, is that there are individuals who seem to work very hard at not enjoying a single minute of their lives. That just astounds me. We all have difficult days...even grumpy ones :), but there has to be something that makes us happy, or makes us smile through our misery during those times. It really is sad.

That persons review is the "Joke".We have sailed many cruise lines with 49 cruises to date. We can't say every cruise is perfect ;but ,all do have a lot to offer the passenger.

Our preference is Celebrity;because over all it is the best cruise line we have thus far sailed for over all performance.

BTW the last % breakdown from cruise line financials shows RCCL corp gaining on CCL corp ,mainly due to the newer RCCL/Celebrity/Azamara ships

I always try to write fair and balanced reviews of every ship we sail. That includes HAL, Carnival, RCI, Princess, NCL and Celebrity. Even on the cruise I liked the least, there were some very good things about it. I've been fortunate enough to sail some 40 times over the past 18 years. It's never as bad as some make it sound and it's probably never as good as others.

We were on Eclipse the week before this person and our experience was the exact opposite. In fact, it was one of our better cruises of all times.

Remember when reading reviews....throw out the really bad and really good and look for those that are balanced and somewhere in between. That's usually where you'll find the best info, regardless of the cruise line or ship you are on.

Happy Cruising everyone!

My guess is that the casino wouldn't limit his cash advances or refuse to put casino charges on his account, he didn't restrict himself, and now he has to pay his gambling debts. He has to be mad at somebody, and it is not going to be at himself.

Wait a minute! You mean EVERYONE doesn't WIN in the Casino? How I am supposed to pay for the drink package I'll be sharing with five family members??;)

I read that post yesterday and felt sorry for him (though it did make me laugh because that was not our experience).....My husband and I went on our first Celebrity Ship in December and had a fantastic time. We can't wait to book the next one. No one was rude, ever. Service was great and he and I tried each others drinks the whole trip and we were never "lectured" about it. Oh well, to each their own I guess:)

From reading the two negative reviews, I get the impression that neither poster did their homework, so to speak. You can't just walk onto a ship and expect it to be a perfect fit. Demographic, cuisine, kids' programs, etc...all can be researched in advance to avoid surprise and disappointment.

PS They were amusing to read, however!

I'd Never question what someone puts in an anonymous post/reivew, but my guess is the lecture had nothing to do with sharing a 'sip'. But that's just me being judgemental and all.

I've have always been puzzled by how cruisers on the exact same cruise can proclaim such completely, even extremely, opposite experiences. One reading their reviews would be led to conclude that they must have been on different ships or the same ship on different dates. My conclusion after having a few cruises under my belt is that there are always going to be individuals whose time is spent looking for things to complain about; and if they can't find something then they invent it. I read one review of the Summit a few years ago wherein the reviewer spent paragraphs criticizing the condition of the ship; e.g. detailing precise locations on the ship where he/she thought the carpet was worn excessively or where the spar varnish on the hand railings was slightly peeled, thusly to conclude that the ship was in a miserable state of poor upkeep/maintenance. I took the Summit out the very next cruise (there were no refurbishments done in between) and quickly concluded that the reviewer’s depiction of the ship's condition was false. On an RCCL cruise (Navigator) a couple of years ago we sat a table in select dining next to one with a middle-aged couple. The wife rejected every main course she ordered. At least 5 by my count. And she let her dissatisfaction with each be known vociferously enough that everybody within the proximity to her table knew of it. Made for a wonderful dining experience for us.

Rarely is something ever perfectly good or bad. And that certainly applies to cruises. However as pertains to Celebrity I've never had anything less than a stellar cruise (3 times Century 2 times Summit, and soon to be Solstice). I suppose there are things I have encountered on my cruises that I might have been worthy of complaint - if I were of the mindset to be a nitpicker. But precisely for what purpose and benefit? And how fair to the cruise line to do so? The cost/value proposition offered by the Celebrity cruises, such as I've taken, is simply astounding. I am in complete awe of how they manage to deliver such a great vacation experience for the prices they do. I am convinced there is no better deal going for a week in the sun than a cruise, with Celebrity remaining at the top of my picks in the category.

Now when you read a review that contains nothing but negative assessments expressed in a very pejorative manner you have to seriously think something more sinister underlies the writer’s motivation. I’m thinking maybe Narcissistic Personality disorder is one possibility. Is there any help for one with this condition? Or maybe he’s got an agenda that he’s not being honest to reveal. Anyone remember back in 2008 when a couple was permanently banned from cruising on RCCL for due to there incessant complaining and bad mouthing of the line in order to get compensated? Bottom line is that one must weigh the content of a specific review within the broader context of what numerous other reviewers are reporting, especially when the preponderance of those reviewers are reporting opposite experiences.
