OK. Lanyard. I know it may be convenient

So many people love Chocolate Melting Cake, I HATE IT! I love me some chocolate, but not that. It reminds my of those Easy Bake Ovens when you were a kid. They had a lightbulb to cook with. It took 6 hours for a brownie that was raw in the middle when done. Ok I went off subject, but I just had to get that out. LOL :D

I have never understood why fanny packs became so passé. When they first came out in the 80s I had young children and I considered fanny packs a genius invention! For outings with my kids - or even without my kids - my hands were free to do whatever I needed to do and my belongings were secure around my waist.

I always dress nicely, and had many fanny packs in several colors to match whatever I was wearing. I really, really, really liked my fanny packs. I mourn their passing.

How can something secure and handy be so distasteful and even offensive nowadays?! :(

I use a lanyard to carry my S&S card or I'd lose it! It doesn't bother me at all to wear it, but then again I might jsut be used to wearing a lanyard because at school I have to wear ID and my keys on an official school lanyard! The S&S card is nothing compared to all that! :)

P.S. I like beaded lanyards, too, and have several. I also have a couple of Brighton brand badge holders that are styled like a long silver necklace and look very classy with various outfits. I use these for my work badge.

On both cruises I used a snug fitting rubber coil bracelet, in clear. It was hardly noticeable and was very secure and handy.

Wristlets are cute but I need my hands free. No pockets in a lady's swimsuit so occasionally during the day, I admit I have been seen wearing one. I can tuck it inside when the cover up is on. At night the card slips easily into my small shoulder bag.

Fanny packs are the worst, I would rather lose my card (again & again, I was also a string on the mittens girl:()

hahaha seriously? I am 25yrs old so thought I would be a part of the age range that would be most concerned with how "stupid" I looked.....but this honestly has never entered my mind. Who in the world would care what you're wearing around your neck? I love lanyards, it's one of the first things I get from the Casino, last time I checked bikinis don't have pockets nor do a lot of my shorts. Even if they do, the card sticks into my leg when I sit down. I find this topic absolutely hilarious.

Why, though? I am genuinely curious why fanny packs are so bad? And just to be clear, I am not judging yours or anyone's opinions (not my style to judge). I just really want to know why everyone dislikes fanny packs so much. :)

If I'm wearing pants, the S&S goes in my pocket. On sea days hanging out by the pool in my bathing suit and flip-flops, around my neck on a lanyard. If you don't like it, you don't have to look at it! :)

I'm beyond worrying about what other people think. Not to mention the fact that I'm on vacation and the last thing I'm going to stress about, and I'm fairly sure the other 3500 on the ship are of the same mindset. Way better than wasting my precious vacation time standing in line at Guest Services to replace my lost card that was stylishly kept in a pocket. Plus I normally put it under my tshirt or whatever.

I totally agree with the poster who says "who cares what others think" and the person with the bra that can carry all sorts of things. At my age I figure I've worked darned hard for my holiday I don't care what others do or look like, never mind how they perceive me.

BTW, I have a glitter landyard that says "PRINCESS GIRLIE", if you see me stop and say hi, just don't offer a comment on my lanyard!!

Fanny packs aren't really bad, and they are convenient just as a lanyard can be. it is really just an individual preference. I think the fanny packs, pack on an extra 5 lbs on the middle of me  so I prefer not to wear one.

The last time I wore a fanny pack was in 1995 on an Australian vacation. I was down at the front desk of a hotel lobby. I told my travel companion "I forgot my fanny pack!" The man behind the desk bursted into a roar of laughter. Confused I asked what I had said that was so funny. He told me...

Meaning of fanny in Australia is.............

fanny n. A tush, usually a female tush (q.v.). Note that in Australia, fanny is a very offensive term referring to the female genital region.

Never wore one again. :o:D

Confess....I love having a lanyard around my neck. It keeps my hands free and keeps me from laying my ss card down somewhere. As a female....I don't always have pockets when on a ship.

It looks A LOT better than a fanny pack....which I have also worn. LOL.

I wear one around my neck, every cruise. My bathing suits don't have pockets :p

I like having my S&S on me and not having to dig it out of a bag.

Just got back from a land vacation and found it annoying to find my hotel key...digging in pockets and in bags. Nuisance. I'm so used to having the lanyard and punched S&S card :D

LOL...no fanny packs for me though :)
