TERRIER1 Posted March 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Can someone advise if the Netto canal tours take euro or charge cards? I went on their web site and they quote the fare in euros. Can I assume they take euros? Do they accept charge cards? Thanks.
Danish viking Posted March 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2011 First i can tell you that the prices are 40 DKK and not 30 DKK as previous years. They only accept cash and cheques, but im guessing like almost evey other tourist site that they accept euro but send them a email with this question. Giantfan13 Posted March 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2011 When we did the canal boat tour in 2009, we really didn't pay attention as to who the company was. it was at the very top of the Nyhavn canal. We were able to charge it and I really do not remember how much it was but a grand time it was. Here are a few of my pics to give you an idea of what to expect. it is really a great way to see parts of Copenhagen, from a completely different angle. From the top of the canal, you board the boats and off you go. This is a marvelous section of Copenhagen and be sure to leave some time to just wander around here http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europe247.jpg There are many very low bridges and you will be asked to 'duck your heads' going under them http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europemaster280.jpg It is a wonderful hour ride and you get to see so many great and unusual things http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europemaster277.jpg http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europemaster276.jpg As I said, you get a different perspective of Copenhagen from the water http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europemaster284.jpg And you even get to see 'The Ark':D:D:D http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz267/Giantfan13/baltics/europemaster274.jpg Cheers Len
Cornishpastyman1 Posted March 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2011 The first part of this shows the DFDS boat and tour The Netto one seems very similar for half the price but I was able to book a specific time with the other one, which was important to us, and even at 60 DKK (70 now) it was not expensive for a great view of the city and some good info from the guide's commentary

GJH123 Posted March 30, 2011 #10 Share Posted March 30, 2011 Hi Danish Viking, Many thanks for the wealth of information that you have provided us. Would you happen to know if the DFDS boats are the ones that go near the Marriott and if we can board at the hotel? Appreciate your response! Danish viking Posted March 30, 2011 #11 Share Posted March 30, 2011 indeed it is, if you look at the map it's the second last stop to the south. The last one is Fisketorvet shopping center.

GJH123 Posted March 31, 2011 #13 Share Posted March 31, 2011 Danish Viking, I'm having a hard time locating the specifics of the 2011 Copenhagen Card. Does it include one narrated canal tour or is it good for the non-narrated journey? It's my understanding that it may be purchased on-line and then one trades the voucher for a card at the airport. Is there an advantage to pre-purchasing or is it just as easy to purchase it in Copenhagen? Again, thanks for you kind reply.
canadarocks Posted March 31, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 31, 2011 Which canal tour is free with the Copenhagen Card Netto or DFDS? Sorry if i didn´t make that clear, its the DFDS (or Strömma) canal tours. :confused:On the official site it just lists a 20% discount on the DFDS tour.
Danish viking Posted March 31, 2011 #15 Share Posted March 31, 2011 @ canadarocks It´s just from this season so maybe the english website isn´t updated. http://www.canaltours.dk/priser/priser Use the Google language tools and translate the part that says rabatter. @ GJH123 The website doesn´t specify if it is the waterbus or the guided tour so im guessing that is it both. You can just as easily purchase the Copenhagen at the airport.
Danish viking Posted March 31, 2011 #16 Share Posted March 31, 2011 @ GJH123 I was offcourse going to say that you could buy the Copenhagen Card at the airport, not Copenhagen itself :D

MRSBITS Posted March 31, 2011 #19 Share Posted March 31, 2011 Can someone advise if the Netto canal tours take euro or charge cards? I went on their web site and they quote the fare in euros. Can I assume they take euros? Do they accept charge cards? Thanks. I e-mailed Netto blue boats, and they replied either Euros or there was a ticket machine that accepted credit cards. CintiPam Posted April 1, 2011 #20 Share Posted April 1, 2011 Per my Rick Steves' guidebook suggestion, when I visited Copenhagen four years ago on a land trip (staying near Nyhavn at The Admiral) I took the 1/2 price canal boat one very happily and enjoyed it very much. I think a canal boat cruise is a must-do for the first time visitor. (I look forward to being a second-time visitor in just over two months!:))
TERRIER1 Posted April 1, 2011 Author #21 Share Posted April 1, 2011 The Copenhagen tourist board replied to me and said that Netto takes Euros but no credit cards. Thanks for the info.
dogs4fun Posted April 1, 2011 #22 Share Posted April 1, 2011 Just wondering if we will have difficulty catching a boat for the canal ride. It looks like the Netto boat leaves Nyhavn at 10:20 a.m. (first cruise) in August. Does anyone know, ballpark, how long the lines are to catch that first cruise in the morning? Just wondering at what time we should get in line. Also, is there more than one boat per hour? Thanks! jill
Danish viking Posted April 1, 2011 #23 Share Posted April 1, 2011 The boats sails all the time and if the Netto boats are full you can just use the DFDS (or Strömma as they are owned by now) Canal tours.
canadarocks Posted April 1, 2011 #24 Share Posted April 1, 2011 The boats sails all the time and if the Netto boats are full you can just use the DFDS (or Strömma as they are owned by now) Canal tours. We will be checking into the Clarion Hotel Mayfair on a Tuesday afternoon in July after an overnight flight. I think the canal tour (DFDS, free with using the Copenhagen Card - thanks for telling us that! :)) would be a great introduction to the city. Can you tell me how we would get to where you board the boat from our hotel? We will have the Copenhagen Card, so I know public transportation is covered with that. Thanks for all your help!
