Carnival "on us" drink program

Sorry to drag up an older thread, but I just came off the Ecstasy.

The casino host and the folks at Guest Services knew nothing about the program.

That's interesting because it was suppose to be rolled out fleet wide March 1st. I was on Blogger's 4 on the Glory 2/27 and John had it added to that ship early and that's when I got my card.

Do you post with John on FB or on his Blog? If so would you mind posting your experience and see what he has to say?

I am hoping it is on the DREAM:confused:. I believe I read somewhere that is was.

Can anyone confirm which ships are participating?

Again I thought it was supposed to be fleet wide and when I was on the Glory there was a big poster advertising the program, just as you came into the casino.

I had free drinks in the casino on my last cruise!!! I had more than 1500 points in the casino on the Liberty to get the On Us free drinks. I did take full advantage of it as much as I could.

I would like say say that to get to 1500 points you have to spend a LOT. I generally budget $100 a day for the casino and on the Liberty I spent $800 plus whatever I won on most days (usually much less than what I spent). The only time I was going to cash out and walk was on the last day and that was gonna be a mere $100 (but it is something); however, I found the $1 Wheel of Fortune machine and decided to play until the slot finals in around a half hour...I didn't make the slot final, but around 10 minutes into playing (and down to $134 from a high of 350) I got a jackpot--$1600....Needless to say I didn't see how many points I had, but I did get at least $20 free play money, so I can assume I had over 2000 points......

I did make 1500 points on this last cruise too thanks to a nice machine and playing $1 a time. I was up to $150 and decided to move it from a quarter to a dollar....good move...I walked away from that machine with a little over $350.....

I don't spend much on drinks, so I take the money some would spend on drinks and gamble instead....at least I have a chance at winning *BG*

Good luck!

Roseaxel--I totally agree with you. The slot machine do pay out on the last day or two nicely. I won the $350ish on the Friday night (2nd last night), and the bg $1600 on the last day at sea (otherwise known as, "Do we have to pack" day).

I am good, I allot only $100 and walk away when done. If I get really lucky I will bank the money and use it another day. I did that on the BC4 cruise and banked around $225 on one day and used it the next day!

So I'm NOT crazy then! :D

Yes, I will ask John because I was sure I had read it. And I actually accumulated 2,000 points! May not happen next time, but I was a bit disappointed when it didn't happen this cruise.

I'm satisfied with Mach's update that he got from Carnival today (Thanks Mach)..........I am also surprised that it's not on the Dream.......and bummed that it's not on the Ecstasy........I was planning maybe a 4 day later in the summer, but I might have to set my sights on the Conquest or the Triumph.

God I hope not cause I could easily start getting free drinks the first night if it doesn't

this made me laugh. I have a rule NEVER to gamble on the first night, because If I lose everythng the first night I will be all depressed the rest of my cruise LOL

I always try to locate the pitt boss, or floor manager and go up to he/she and say hi and stike up a conversation. Something so they remember me. Then everytime I am inthe Casino I always say hi or something. Usually by the 3rd night (normally late) the floor manager is walking around with his clip board and bar attendant signing off free drinks to people of his choice. So start your repoir with them early and they will remember you when they are scouting with the clip boards. LOL

But as I said above, you can get many points for $4-5 just depending on your luck. If you put in $4 on a dollar machine and take it all the way up to 1500 credits, then lose it all, you would get the free drinks and it would have only cost you $4. I personally only spent $340 in the casino and hit the 1000 point mark.

You have a point there and all you have invested is $4. On the other hand, you run it up to $1500 and you cash out. Say a drink costs $10 inc tip. That's 150 drinks, anywhere, anytime for anyone. And all it cost was, holy crap, $4.

You can add the Freedom to that list because my wife got the "ON US" card on the second day of our March 6, 2011 cruise.:D

I would guess the list has not been updated and Mach's CCL contact just went by the published list.

Just got off the Miracle a couple of weeks ago. I reached 1500 points on the 2nd day of a 7 day cruise. When I asked for my drink card the casino host said their ship didn't participate BUT they would give me a free drink each day in the casino. I was so dissapointed as I racked up 3700 points and spent $1400 for the week. Just booked the Glory in July and called the players club today for future comps and they told me I would get $50 cash comp at the casino cage. Asked if I would get the premium bon voyage package also. Oh no you can have $50 or the premium package. Oh well

Yup, it's the Dream as well. The review you're probably thinking about was a B2B by meatloafsfan on the Dream just a few weeks ago. Here is a quote from her review thread that explained it.

By the time I had gotten my drink card I had spent maybe $300 of my own money. I gambled just about everything - they have penny machines, 2 cent machines, nickel machines, quarters and dollars - and I played them all. I usually gambled around $1.50 to $3 a spin ( even on pennies). Throughout the two weeks I was up, I was down, came back even, up again, down again. Overall I lost my money but I played for a week on the ship what I would normally wager over a 3 day week-end at the Seneca Niagara Casino ($800 the first week and a $1000 the next week).

Drinks are free only when you're in the casino though it is very easy on the Dream to stop there, put a couple of bucks into a machine, order your drink and then take it to go.

I think it depends on how lucky you are as to how long or how much money it takes to amass the 1500 pnts. I believe it only took her a couple days to get the 1500. (1200 on the first evening)

Interesting it is not on the Dream now. I received a letter in my cabin when I boarded telling me to stop by the casino that evening, as I was getting a "Drinks on Us" card for free due to my past play on other CCL ships. Went to the casino, they attached the small plastic card to my s and s card, and that was that. Why would they "roll it out" on the Dream, and then discontinue it?

We are cruising on the Liberty in a few weeks and would like to email the casino host with a few questions, any idea how to contact them?

There is a calculated reason behind the 'fuzziness' of understanding what you deserve and why. Having gambled at Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods (the two largest casinos) sooo many times (live somewhat close) as well as Atlantic City, Vegas, and cruises, none of them provide exact information as to how a player is rewarded or rated.

When Foxwoods first opened in 1996, they openly communicated that every $20 played (not lost) would give the player $1 in comp credits. Those calculations have DRASTICALLY changed (as they realized it wasn't the brightest move to announce) in that it appears more like every $60 played now gives a player $1 in comps.

I have cruised w/Carnival 10+ times but when I cruise next week I receive: a bottle of wine, 2 bottles of water, photo coupon, & a fruit basket. I appreciate it but the free fruit makes me laugh since I'm on a cruise. I recently spent 3 days/2 nights in Atlantic City and barely received any comps!! I understand every penny should count for casinos but I bet at least $2-$3 per spin on a machine and more than $20 (depending on game) on table games each hand.

Those who play machines and hit what I call "playing credits" (credits you win but not enough to cash out) and maybe lose $300 total will ultimately rack up more of a ranking than someone who loses $1000 in 2 days b/c he/she doesn't hit anything.

Interesting list. I got a card for table play on the Freedom in February, gambled exactly the same way in March on the Glory and no card. I asked and they said they had already discontinued it.

Host Mach,

My husband I both got the free drinks in the Dream casino last Sept. If this has changed I may change my booking for this september. When did they drop the promotion? I remember that we went on BC4 John said it had been successful on the Dream and was being rolled out to other ships. Rolled to others but gone from Dream?

Just off the Dream today and I will confirm that on the April 30-May 7 sailing they did not give the free drink card for 1500 points. DH was rated as a VIP, got Premium Bon Voyage package in our stateroom as well as casino credits. Met the casino host...and when he hit the 1500 he asked about the drink card. Was told they "don't do that anymore".

It was a bummer.
