Carnival "on us" drink program

I don't know if things have changed, but we sailed on Dream 4/2-4/16. The first week I got to 1500 points and I waited, and waited for someone to come to me to tell me that I qualified for free drinks, but no one did. The last night of the cruise, I asked one of the slot attendants about it and she said she didn't know anything, but would send a casino host over to me.

The casino host said that they had had the program, but that it was discontinued as it was a trial to get people into the casino and the weeks I was sailing, Carnival didn't feel that program was necessary. I told him that I had just read a couple of days before the cruise that it was on Dream and that I was really disappointed.

The host did arrange for a few drinks for me to be comped the second week. He set me up with a particular bar server who would ask me a couple of times a night if I wanted a drink. I was way over 1500 points the second week, so I did get a couple of drinks nightly, but if that program were working while I was on there, I wouldn't have felt guilty getting two drinks a night. I probably would have had more than that as I played in the casino almost all day on sea days, but I didn't feel I would take advantage of the host.

Here's the list I got from Carnival regarding drinks for Casino play...

Carnival Glory

Carnival Liberty

Carnival Pride

Carnival Conquest

Carnival Victory

Carnival Triumph

Carnival Fantasy

Carnival Legend

And in May your Carnival Magic.

I'll ask for an updated list...

Standby...

Mach, Can you check the Carnival Destiny... someone just posted on John's facebook page that they got the card last week... I will be on her in August and would love to get a "drinks on us" card!!! Thanks...

I was just on the Dream last week and was so excited to reach my 1500 points Thursday evening. As pp stated I waited for someone to come over, but they never did. After being made to feel like a fool, I eventually learned that the promotion was off for my week and this week. The casino host said that they(mgmt) only decides a couple of weeks in advance whether it will be on or off for a particular cruise. I told her that I felt that was completely unfair to announce a promotion and then only honor it for certain weeks without notifying cruisers ahead of time. She did ask a server to bring me a drink which he promptly brought me and asked for my signature to pay for it. I thought it was free since she was apologizing and offered it to me. He had to chase her down and have it comped. The whole thing was a huge letdown. I don't even drink that much, but it would have been nice for them to live up to the program that they have been promoting.

I asked my "buddy" at Ocean Player's Club if the program would be on Inspiration this week. He said that they have tried it on the Inspiration; but as a trial program, it's being tried on several ships & he doubted it would be on Inspiration again. (I can hope!)

When we were on the Dream in Jan, I got the 1500 points the 2nd day. I went to the window and they gave me the card. From then on it was drink city for me! If I was sitting at a machine, they would come ask. If I ordered it and went outside & gave it to my husband, nobody said anything. It was a great program! No way would I sample that many fancy drinks otherwise!

Husband got his on Wednesday night & got his own!

Note...we ALWAYS gave a tip. Sometimes a dollar, sometimes more. When I signed the "zero receipt" for the drinks I realized that the server wasn't getting anything. ZIIING! Just like on land, they work those free drinks for tips.

Perhaps that kept me in good graces with the servers because they always found us and brought drinks.

On Elation in Feb they did NOT have the program but I did hit 1500 points by end of day 2.

Doubtful on the Inspiration but hopefully "someone" knows I'm there and sends a few drinks anyway!

We are getting cash & goodies from Player's Club...but those free drinks were wonderful!

btw...on our S & S card we had over 40 drinks between us with "0.00" as charge. Sweet. Kinda doubt that program lasts long!

Adding my .02 :)

1500 points is easy to get. I added up my total points over the last 6 cruises and I have 1800 points. Do I get free drinks on the next cruise? lol......:D

I never got 1500 points on any one cruise back when carnival gave me 500 points for being VIP. LOL Guess I'm a "pay as you go drink guy"

leedm :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Just got off the phone with an Ocean Players person...and as long as you are on a 7 day cruise you get the free drinks in the casino...and your points accumulate over time..that means...YOU GET FREE DRINKS. :D (provided you have the 1500 pts needed)

Was anything mentioned about a 5 day cruise? Maybe I should just pick up the phone and call...!!! I just don't want to bother them cause I think they are swamped...

This is not correct. It is 1500 points per cruise. And they did not have it up and running on the Spirit.

Just off the Dream and it was offered and signs were everywhere! They don't tell you when you get it from what I was told, you have to go to the Cashier cage and they give you a card to attach. I saw several with the card, I never got that high and played a lot of slots but not tables, which are based on time not amount.

Sounds like no credit for table games?? Am I reading that right?

Because I am sure it will be asked...

One point is awarded for every $2.50 of coin in on regular slots, and one point for every $5.00 of coin in on video poker.

http://www.oceanplayersclub.com/AboutTheClub/MembershipAndBenefits.aspx

Coin in is defined the amount of money wagered through a machine. For example, on a quarter 3-coin max bet machine, your coin in will be $0.75 every time you spin, and you will receive a point every 3-4 spins. Coin in has nothing to do with how much money you put in the machine, or how much you win or lose.

That is correct... Table games are completely different... In order to be "comped", you need to play $25 per hand for a minimum of 4 hours every day...

It's $2 per point on slots. That's total coin in.

Tables are min $25 every hand for 16 hours play. Must ask to be rated and even then, it's up to the Casino Manager to approve the card. I've seen people play $100 hands and lose thousands and get no card because they were arrogant, rude and mostly drunk. Don't even bother asking to be rated for less than $25 a hand.

Also, you're likely to get at least a few comped drinks if you tip the dealers constantly. On BJ, place a dealer bet every hand, even if it's only $1. It gets noticed and rewarded. Get the whole table doing it and you'll be very well looked after.

Texas hold em you can forget about the card. No benefit to the casino.

Don't be a tool and hassle for drinks, just get chatting to the Supervisors and be nice to the dealers. They won't do anything for you if you are a smart arse and definately won't do anything it you start demanding.

The ships are very different to land based US casinos, so don't expect the same perks as on land.

Hope this helps.

this should be automatic .chatting to the supervisors and being a tool playing $25 per hand at blackjack, this does not help at all

do alittle research before posting
