I have to talk to my sister at lunchtime... She was on the Carnival Valor two weeks ago and received the "On Us" card the 2nd night!!! Going to ask her what/how much she was betting..

She did take full advantage of it and ordered lots of drinks the rest of the week and never had a problem getting them or having to wait for them...

My brother-in-law was upset because he was playing the Texas Hold Em table and Craps the whole week and lots more $$$$$$$$s than my sister was playing at the machines and was never offered anything!!! lol

I'll be cruising in August and would love if they would check my past points etc... I just know that I would get that card upon boarding!!!!

Upon boarding the Dream in Dec., I had a letter waiting in my cabin asking me to stop in the casino and get my "drinks on us" card! I was very surprised - didn't have to play a dollar! (of course, I did play many on the rest of the cruise!:D) It was based on my past play. I drink very little, but it was still nice getting a drink for free when I wanted it! (and yes, I got waaay over 1,500 pts on the rest of the cruise!)

Did the card have your name on it?

Makes me think about the fact that we DO get free drinks...when shopping for jewelry in the ports........DH always says THOSE are the most expensive free drinks he has during the cruise. ;)

The spa could take a lesson from those shops.

Can anyone tell me the ships this program isn't in? I do not have a facebook account, so I couldn't use the link supplied by one poster.

You don't need to be a facebook member to read John's FB page. I've logged out of FB and read it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the casino were the largest generator of profit on the average cruise. The "free" drinks are supplied to help reduce people's judgment and further increase profits.

I would bet ;) booze far exceeds casino revenue.

Vegas has figured that out...I'm really surprised the cruise ships haven't

Vegas only does it because of competition. Otherwise the Hard Rock would do it all their casinos in Florida. One of them in Hollywood does to try and draw more players and the other doesn't because they have no competition.

Like us gamblers don't drink anyways;) Finally they are giving perks where perks are deserved.........back to the people that spend the most money. Unlike the platinum program......kudos Carnival!

They handwrote my name on it in sharpie marker, with my s and s # and the dates it was good for. They then attached it with a little chain thing to my s and s card.

The Hard Rock is a joke of a casino so I'm not sure why you would bring the bottom of the totem pole up?

Maybe because they're an example of a casino with no competition. If they thought drinks would make them more money they'd be handing them out. They're already running the most profitable casino per square foot in the world.

Prior to this program I was not a drinker while playing for that very reason. It's easier to kind of lose track, but now I just make sure that I don't have more money with me than I'm willing to lose in that session.

On the back of the card they write in your name and the expiration date. The way they attach them to your lanyard, when your card is in the machine the front of the On Us card sits in front of the S&S card so it's easy for a passing waiter to see it.

The bad part is they can kind of pester you too much.

There are restrictions like you can't get shots or certain liqours and no large bottles of water.

The drink is rung up just like a regular order, including a tip but then the total is zero'ed out and you sign for it just like normal. They show up on your S&S statement as $0.0 transactions.

DH and I spend a lot of time in the casino on our cruises. We budget $250-300 a day each for gambling. I put each day's money in a separate envelope and we stick to that budget. If we win, then all the better and more money to gamble with the next day. If the day's allotment is gone, then that's it for us for the day in the casino. We typically earn about 5000 points each on a 4 day cruise. At $2.50 a point, that is $25,000 through the machines, so you can see we are recycling our wins, not just all of our original bankroll. And if we spend all we bring with us that is only a total of $2,000-$2,400. We don't gamble for free drinks, strawberries, wine or whatever. We just like to play the slot machines. But if the CPC gives us anything for doing so, then so much the better.

I was very lucky on one cruise and won over $1,500 on the last day on a penny slot machine. So, the myth that the machines don't pay out on the last 2 days of the cruise is just not true. Also, for quite some time, the casino hosts have offered us free drinks whenever we want them.

I agree completely in fact on my last cruise I woke up on the last day with $300ish in my players bank and played all day and evening long and finally went to bed at midnight with .27 left. I wasn't going to stand in line for that little amount.
