Nachi Cocom in Cozumel

That video made me want to be there RIGHT NOW!

So, what I am taking away from this thread is I should plan to take some stuff for the kids to play with there, like maybe some beach toys (a bucket and a shovel) and a float? (Our kids are 2 and 11)

My friend and I will be heading to Cozumel on June 11 on the Carnival Dream. He is all about lying on the beach, I am intersted in doing some shopping and learning a little about the city.

Does anyone know, if we make a reservation at Nachi, will they hold our spots if we do not show up first thing? Can I spend 2 hours or so shopping, then go to the beach for 2 hours? And if I can, would it be worth it to do so?

Thanks for the advice!

My daughters and I were at Nachi last month and had a very relaxing day. We arrived early and it wasn't even open. After a few minutes, the caretaker arrived and opened the gates for us. We had the whole place to ourselves for awhile...it was great. I've just uploaded a video I took to Youtube which hopefully you can view, if interested. BTW...it was a $15 cab ride each way for the three of us!

Awesome video...the waves lapping the beach are heaven.

Thanks for posting. :)

Thanks all for the nice comments. That's the first time I've uploaded a video to Youtube. I have one of Maya Chan in Costa Maya that I'm thinking of uploading.

I loved how peaceful it was that early in the AM. Just the sound of the birds and waves!

There was a wedding there later that day. I took my photo from a distance. Will try to upload it tomorrow.

Also have some photos of our lunch. Food was great as were the Dirty Monkeys!!! You order whatever you want off the menu. If I ever go back to Cozumel, I will definitely go back to Nachi.

There were children there that day and quite a few were enjoying the pool when we left. I think all of you that are going or planning to will really enjoy your day.

I'm interested. i have some questions:

1. what's the difference between book it directly through Nachi Cocom and book it through Island Marketing?

2. when you book it, you need to give some deposit, then when you arrive you need to pay the rest fee. how to pay the rest fee? cash? u.s. dollar?

3. and how to pay the taxi fee? cash? u.s. dollar?

4. is it too hot there on July 8th?

5. if we want to go snorkeling there, the fee is $35 per person, right? we have to book it now, or we can go when we're there? and again, how to pay the fee? cash? u.s. dollar?

thanks very much!

I'm interested. i have some questions:

1. what's the difference between book it directly through Nachi Cocom and book it through Island Marketing? There really is no Difference I always just book through Island marketing, the reason being they where really great in January when I was on the Legend and they switched our port days around. I e-mail Island marketing and within an hour they got back to me and all was taken care of

2. when you book it, you need to give some deposit, then when you arrive you need to pay the rest fee. how to pay the rest fee? cash? u.s. dollar? The Fee's need to be paid in US Cash

3. and how to pay the taxi fee? cash? u.s. dollar? Taxi's paid in US dollar, it's $15.00 for 4 people to Nachi. Signs are posted right in front of the Cabs on costs on where to go

4. is it too hot there on July 8th? I was there in June of last year and the weather was perfect, and now I am gonna be there in June again. Maybe someone else can answer better with this question?

5. if we want to go snorkeling there, the fee is $35 per person, right? we have to book it now, or we can go when we're there? and again, how to pay the fee? cash? u.s. dollar? Snorkeling is $35.00 US Dollar and paid in cash. Once you get settled in on the beach, a tour guide comes around trying to sell you a lot of stuff such as message, Jet Skiing or even snorkeling. You pay him and they set you up to where you need to be to do all of this.

thanks very much!

Hope all they answers helped, please fell free to ask if you have any more.

  • 2 weeks later...

Can anyone tell me if you cancel at the last minute, not due to weather, do they charge your card that you used for the deposit? Has anyone rented the jet skis or done the para-sailing from Nachi? What about the snorkel trip from there? Just trying to decide if any of those are worth it. My husband especially loves his jet skis and going where ever he can within a given area. He does not like to have to follow along someone, as is the case at some other areas.

Thanks!:)

I dont think you can cancel at the last minute and yes your card will be charged. From reading the information you need to cancel 2 weeks before.

Clients may cancel their excursion 2 weeks or further from the date they had reserved without additional charges, deposits are not refundable.

Cancellations due to "illness" at time of excursion require a certified medical certificate from your Ship's doctor which can be faxed to our office or presented at time of excursion by participating group members in ordered to deviate from being charged full excursion costs, deposits are non-refundable.

No-shows for the reserved excursion may be charged for the full amount of the excursion at the discretion of the operator who was left standing at the meeting location without a tour, or money to feed his/her children because for whatever reason you decided not to show up for your reserved excursion.

Airlines do it, Cruise Liners do it, and yes, so do we.

We did not Jet ski but did parasail. There is a dock right there that you leave from. The parasail was operated by Palencar sports. Boat and equipment we had were in great shape. It was $50.00 single, $90.00 tandem and you could pay $10.00 to just ride along and watch from the boat (which is what I did) my daughter is 12 and had never parasailed before. She got nervous at the last minute and didn't want to go up. They were very nice and let another adult friend travelling with us go up tandem with her at no additional fee - I thought that was very nice ! Going up she looked like she was going to pass out but she came down with a big grin!:D

I have read thru 4 pages of reviews on this place and only one comment was negative!! I will be in Cozumel on 10-6 and Nachi sounds awesome! Thank you guys for posting pictures too!! =) I of course have a few questions to add to the list if you dont' mind....

1. Are the palapas assigned to you when you make the reservation? Are you guaranteed one?

2. How far apart are they? Is there room to maybe lay a towel in the sunny area to get some sun, or are you isolated to under you palapas?

3. If you leave your palapas, say to go eat in the restaurant, or go in the water, do you lose it or is it saved for you?

4. I'm a little leary about booking an excursion outside Carnival cruise lines. Has anybody had any negative experiences with this?

I'm ready to go...this place sounds so awesome!! Thanks again for your help!

not sure if anyone answered this, but last July was my first time at Nachi and we had beautiful weather. It was warm for sure but made the water feel really good. As long as you plan on cooling off in the beach or pool at some point, you should be okay.

We are returning next week! Cannot wait!

1. Are the palapas assigned to you when you make the reservation? Are you guaranteed one? You are assigned to a waiter when you arrive and pay your balance - he will take you to your seats. If you are not happy (more shade, closer to the water, etc. - speak up!)

2. How far apart are they? Is there room to maybe lay a towel in the sunny area to get some sun, or are you isolated to under you palapas? Room for a towel or just drag your lounge chair into the sun.

3. If you leave your palapas, say to go eat in the restaurant, or go in the water, do you lose it or is it saved for you? It is yours until you leave for the day.

We had a great time there just before Easter; booked on line, used PayPal for the deposit, paid balance in cash when we arrived. Great service, good food, clean facilities, quiet relaxing beach, nice pool with swim-up bar and unlimited drinks. Just what the Dr. ordered! :D

Have a wonderful cruise! :)

I just wanted to put my 2 cents in...

I went to Nachi in January and there were 6 of us in that six we had to 18 yr olds and well one never cruised and while there the boys went into the water and found this huge starfish and the boys lifted it up and showed us they were so excited. We were on the beach with drink in hand when this guy came over at them and started yelling at them to put the starfish down. Ok couldn't he just explain to them touch all you want in the water just don't take it out of the water. Now it was a few seconds that it was out of the water so it wan't like they were walking on the beach to show us they lifted it above the head and said look. so anyway. So the yelling stopped and the guy never explained what they did wrong then we went up to have our meal and the guy came back to me and the boys and said you do that again you are out of here..we were like do what? Not very friendly at all. Ok if we do something we aren't suppose to tell us nicely then if we do something we aren't suppose to again well then strict reinforcement but first at Nacho first cruise this place was not the friendliest to kids at all so just my point of view...if you have kids don't let them do anything and you will be ok I guess..

Ok- so you go in and make your payment- a waiter comes and escorts you to your palapa/chairs. Do you tip when this service is rendered? or tip at the end of the day?

JohninDC..thanks so much for the info!! That's very helpful :). I'm even more excited to go now!

Jojo...that's very strange that the staff member would be so demanding. I don't know much about taking star fish out of the water, but I agree that he could have been less forceful, especially when your kids didn't understand what they were doing wrong. Then if they did it again, he would have every right to gripe, but that is unfortunate that it had to be so negative. I hope the rest of your vacation was good at least..lol

Thanks for the help guys!!

We tipped the waiter and the bar staff at the end of the day - if you tipped him every time he came around with more drinks you could go broke in a hurry! :o

just an FYI, i noticed on their website that after Nov 30th, 2011, their prices go up from $49/pp to $55/pp

I have a question...i see a lot of people mentioned that they booked through Island Marketing. Is that how you HAVE to book? It looks like they have a booking engine on their website (nachi's website) so that's left me confused as to how i'm actually supposed to book it.
