I read about people bragging how little they spend. Good for you.

For those proud to go nuts financially on a cruise for whatever you enjoy feel free to post your total bill for a week cruise here.....or break down by day.

My family of 4 had a bill of $1,800 for an 8 nighter. We had a blast....Could have done more but didn't want to go totally nuts.

In July, my DH and I had $1370 for a 4 day. We went on to celebrate our anniversary (the 31st) and my bday (14th)..... We decided to really celebrate after a 250.00 bingo win the 2nd day..... (the 1370 was before the 250.00 bingo credit). Total out of pocket was like $1120.

for 2 of us. 1379.95 for a 5 day. But we didn't police anything. Bought quite a few things from the shops and this is when we could carry alcohol home and not charged for bags . Lets say we had some fin carry ons. Without the duty free, our next cruise was only 700 for 5 days. we sail in just over a week and have a 1k budget for the ship. We prepaid all shore excursions already, and then have separate cash for the ports

Well this may be a good thread to find out what not to spend your money on.... I know it wasn't a lot of $ but it was for us...because we bought pictures(who knew my hubby would look so cute in his Halloween costume:p)-40.00-we bought a shore excursion...it was our first cruise and I just had to get into that beautiful blue Bahamian water....-140.00:rolleyes:-we were really just there for a wedding....we bought NA drinks, who knew that some drink w/o booze would cost 6 bucks each??? And we had to buy a hundred bucks worth of smokes....:(And we had paid premium when we booked, no early saving for us-we paid top billing because we were in a wedding group, so how do you ask to you pay 3K for a 3 day trip, no gambling and no booze???? We got hooked on cruising and learned to book smartly. (with some intelligence)

What we spend is our business and nobody elses imho.

$1400 for 4 on a 7 day this past week on the Pride. Doesn't seem really high BUT, we had $1000 of OBC, so it was really $2400. But we plan to spend a lot. For excursions, auto tips and the Steakhouse, it was $620 right there. But we do spend a lot on pics ($200), drinks(~$200), souvenirs in the shops ($100) and even bingo ($200). So that leaves about $1100 for a few items I am probably forgetting but we also put $500 on each of mine and my wifes casino/poker accounts. We cashed out on the last night and got a little over $1000 in cash so I call that a wash. So all in all, I would say our final "bill" was about $1300.

Hi All,

Other than excursions, which I could see will run up a bill, what can you possibly buy on a ship to have bills that high?

Not commenting one way or the other, just have no idea what you guys buy.

enjoy,

Duane

booze, gift shop and casino... its not that we drink like fish but when you add up 7 days of drinking with the first day and sea days the heaviest, it adds up at 8 bucs a pop(drink and tip)

Our first cruise in 2007 with DH and I and our 3 kids our Sail N Sign was just under $2600.00:eek::eek: (and we couldn't wait to book another one:p)

That being said, we knew absolutely nothing about cruising. It was prior to me finding Cruise Critic and learning the tricks of the trade.

We had our excursions for Jamaica and Caymans included in that $2600, so you figure close to $1,000 was probably excursions, then $350 for Gratuities, Soda cards for the 3 kids, lots of pics and some booze thrown in there Mom and Dad.

So I guess when you break it down like that, it doesn't seem so bad.

Hubby and I cruised on the Ecstasy on a 5 day one year and our S & S was $1100. We love our beer!!!

Those sea days can be killers, $25 a bucket for 4 beers, that lasts us about an hour IF we're lucky.:p

$140 for two for a seven-night.

Yep, the only item on the account was the gratuities.

Do you ever think to buy someone a drink? like some really nice people that you meet? soda or wine or whatever? or do you say....can I get you lemonade from the fountain? lol.
