Best Piano Entertainer on Carnival? (Part 2)

Laura & All,

 

I sailed with the Valor on Sunday. The Piano Bar entertainer is Doug Ross. I asked him and he said he will be here until Feb 19 (He said, "or something like that").

 

I had him last year for my "New Years" cruise and I thought he was pretty good then. I'll post a full review at the end of the cruise. (You can read my previous review of him in the Live from the Freedom link in my signature.)

So after reading JH's blog today, I thought I would have the answer of who will be in the paino bar on Legend after the current person leaves. She leaves in 9 days, but we still don't have an answer. Are they thinking of no longer putting someone in there? I am confused!!!

The list that John posts on his blog comes from the musicians roster which DOES NOT contain future dates and performers. I've asked and begged and pleaded for a list with future dates to no avail. So we are dependent on the entertainers themselves to let us know of future contracts.

 

Don't worry, there will be a piano entertainer in there, we just don't know who it is yet.

Thanks for reassuring me! We get on the Legend on the 15th - the day Polly gets off so I was a little worried. When I was on Freedom in Europe a few years ago, the piano bar was one of my favorite places to go with my parents - it is actually one of my favorite things about Carnival.

 

When I get back, I will definitely report on who her replacement is.

I see that Peter Brenner is on Miracle until this coming Friday. Anyone know who is going to replace him? We sail March 1st and are hoping to get someone good for our 8 day cruise!

Off the Destiny in mid-December & spent a few nights with Rob - he was fantastic! Such fun! Here's hoping he does another Destiny for our April cruise.

We just got off the Magic yesterday and our piano bar guy was Imani. He was decent, but he used a lot computerized back-up music that I didn't really care for. He was very personable.

Okay, Brad Alexander is returning to the Valor starting 1/21/2012. Doug Ross who was supposed to be there until 2/19/2012 will probably transfer ships. If I was a betting woman I would say the Victory. But I do not have confirmation on that yet, so I won't post it yet.

 

Also added Jarone Howard's stage name "Imani" to the listing. Meant to do that a while back, but DeDe63's post reminded me.

 

I'm working on the Legend and the Miracle. Hope to have news soon. If not, whoever sails on them soon I hope you will report back.

Just got off the Pride on Jan.8. Roger was fantastic. He has a great personality and had the piano bar packed every night. He played a wide variety of songs and got people involved. The only down side, if I would call it that, would be that he could not say certain words properly but I think that just added a little flavor to the songs.

 

Highly recommend him and if you get the chance and he is on your ship definitely stop by it would be worth your time.

 

Did not get a chance to see how long he will be on the Pride though. Sorry about that!

We were on the Dec 26 sailing of Magic and went a couple of times but left quickly. Didn't enjoy his versions of familiar songs, really slowed them down. However, there was a crowd there every night.

Onboard the Dream now, and the different style piano bar is more "open" than the Conquest class.

 

Dave has SO become a ,Carnival guy!! It's like seeing a different player than the one I sailed with a year ago!!

He's packing the place every night. Really engaging and you can tell he's having a good time too!

Knows every song on the planet, LOL.

We are fortunate to have a 10 year old that may be the next "American Idol" winner!

 

If you have a chance to sail with Dave, go go go!!
