Is it just me that thinks this about the NCL CC board?

I agree with you ncl just isnt as active, and even if you post a question you are lucky to get 3 or 4 answers but on carnival people carry on answering even when the topic is so like finished a year ago. I found rccl to have the most hostile posters ( maybe its just me ) I wont dare to mention dress code, or alcohol over there again.

I would agree RCI and Celebrity posters don't want to haer any criticism of thier chosen line and are, normally very loyal. Princess falls into this catagory as well, but I don't think quite as much as in years past.

OK sorry I have to laugh at this, but we have an Oct 2011 member with 34 posts arguing with a 2009 member with 3700+ posts.

Now I'm thinking you have either lurked for years without joining or you are speaking from direct experience to make your argument. ;)

This post sure sounds like you are implying posts by those with a higher post count have more credibility than someone with a low post count.

But I'll let everyone judge for themselves.;)

tell me about it! I wasnt critisising but the thread had already turned into an argument , after reading it I told a few people to relax because they are on vacation and I couldnt understand why what other people were wearing would cause them so much upset and the next thing I know im under attack and being told I should never go on another cruise  eventually the thread was removed. another thread about alcohol resulted in someone telling me Im cheap! I took it all with a pinch of salt and tried to add some humour to the thread ( I said something along the lines of 'im cheap and im proud!' lol ) but clearly some people were very angry and upset ( as far as im concerned thats their problem not mine) They do have great ships and I hope to sail on them one day but I think freestyle is gonna suit me better.

Im glad that the posters on cc are a minority and not indicative of everyone who sails

This post was more to point out the humor I seen, rather than start a ridiculous debate on whether or not someone's post count meant anything or to have anyone judge the way it was written.

But since you seem bent on making comment on this I will try to explain what you obviously missed.

Actually there was sort of an implication but the post count wasn't it.

The implication was based more on joining dates than post counts. They were debating back and forth on how cruise critic handled those who have been banned and then chose to resurface under a different name. In order for the one poster to have any knowledge of this, when their joining date was less than a month ago he/she would logically have to have either been lurking long enough to understand that some posters get banned and resurface or they had to be one of the resurfacers. That was my point.

The poster came back and clarified and therefore I will chose to believe them.

can I just say I have a ton of posts and really dont feel I am very knowledgable at all lol my answers tend to be my opinion, not really based on facts at all. You can find out facts from the cruiselines website, I prefer to know peoples personal expirience and thats why I like cruise critic. Even a first time cruisers opinion can be just as valuable to me as someone who's cruised 100's of times. And its nice to get a different perspective, if everyone was in an older age group and cruised in suites, then they wouldnt really relate to me and their expirience onboard may differ greatly to someone in their 20's on a budget, so I never discredit someones input just because they havent made many posts, I appreciate the advice of all posters :)

oh, I think I got the jest of your comments, I was just adding, there are some boards that take comments more seriously than others and have problems with any criticism what so ever. Yes, many of us are loyal to a certain or certain cruise lines and do defend them, but not to the extent of a few cruise line loyalist like Celebrity for starters.

I last sailed on Carnival in 2002 on the then new Carnival Pride out of Port Canaveral. My recollection is that the ship was nice, food was good, no real problems, had a great time. I say this to explain that I am not prejudiced against Carnival.

I have another Carnival cruise coming up next month so I've been lurking on the Carnival boards to bring myself up to date. I'm fairly appalled at the attitude of the Carnival posters. There seems to be more attacking than helpful information and multiple threads running concurrently addressing the same issues. Over the past few weeks there's been at least 10 different threads complaining about an increase in the daily tips from $10/pp/day to $11.50/pp/day. One poster went as far as to file a complaint with the Florida AG's office over it.

Then there's the daily booze smuggling posts, and smoking posts, etc. The only thing they tend to not argue about is dress code since they've apparently mostly given up on that (though the same can be said for NCL - but that's part of the deal on NCL so there's no pretense). On Celebrity the typical dress code thread starts with someone asking if they have to wear a tux on formal night, on Carnival its "do I need to wear long pants on formal night?".

So, to address the OP's question, yes the Carnival boards are more active, but probably 80% of it is bs with the same nonsense being re-hashed over and over again. More so, imho, than here and on the other boards.

I my mind quality beats quantity any day.

you are quite right, I dont know how I got caught up in the discussions but some of the threads were quite entertaining and did make me laugh. I had fun chatting BS over on the carnival boards and found RCI posters a little bit snobby ( not everyone but a few) One discrussion going on for several days regarding carnival cruisers being 'people of walmart' had me in stitches lol ( hey I love walmart) so I said I wanted to start a poll to find out which cruiseline had better looking people onboard lol that seemed to annoy people on the RC board but I was just having a laugh.

I realise the majority of my comments probably just clutter up the boards but Ive promiced myself im gonna stay off of here once Ive been on my cruise...

Good luck with that one, many of us made the same promise to ourselves:).

yea, my first postings were just before we cruised the first time on the Sun, back in 2002. I didn't even give it a thought about getting back on after the cruise and here I am 9 years plus later.

yea I only posted a couple of questions to begin with, the main bulk of my posts were on my rollcall last year, then i stayed off for a while and joined again when i booked a cruise on navigator of the seas, i then had to cancel it so i didnt come back to cruise critic until a couple of months ago but I seem to be on here almost everyday. Sometimes I go 3 or 4 days without cruise critic ( that does sound like someone in denial lol)

The less OFFICIAL <<<** "Cruising with the whatever" **>>> topics the better. I feel those group posts on the Carnival board should been moved to a seperate forum years ago. Glad they have not infected the NCL forum.

I organized my first M&G. I had cruised before but was new to CC. I just read up on them here. I am type A and probably went "way over the top" but that is ok. Had a blast. Only one I have attended so far.

The Roll Call has picked up a bit. The forum and the Roll Call have added to my (pre) cruise experience so far.

This has to do with the size of the ships and the type of cruiser. NCL has a little older crowd and one that isn't quite as social, plus it depends on the particular sailing. We had over 2000 postings on our NCL cruise earlier this year, the one we have coming up in Feb 2012 has very few right now.

I love to read this board like there is no tomorrow, all day and then some. But...I also toggle back and forth with Carnival's board. Quite frankly, there is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more activity on that board than there is on NCL's and I just don't get it???? We all love cruising as much as they do...so what is the deal? I wanna know  Hip Hip NCL I say :D

Why are you just comparing 2 cruise lines? There are many more cruise lines out there. Kinda an injustice to compare only the two....don't you think?

I also read the other boards. The only thing I dont like about the CCL boards are all the cheerleaders. If you dont like something, they all bash the poster. God forbid you have something bad to say about a Carnival cruise. You will get ripped! That is no help at all. I can imagine that is why there are not more first time posters over there. To scared to post. Most of the lengthy posts over there are bashing somebody. RCL Boards are to snotty for me. They act like they are better than everybody else!! Granted not all posters on both boards are like this but it is the majority!!! Of course I put my nickle in when I cant take the way most of them treat other people. Its just not right.

I have to say at least 10 to 15 percent of the Carnival board relates to group cruises. Quantity of posts is not always a good thing. The posts that contain valuable information on a general level and don't hawk some kind of group cruise with a reduced deposit is what matters.

Comments & questions on the NCL board seem to revolve alot around suites, and perks that go with suites. Carnival threads not so much.

On the plus side that's what led me to book my first NCL cruise on the Dawn in 2013 (booked back in Feb so can't wait until I can say next year :p).

I want to try out the NCL suite life after reading all the posts. We have had a few Carnival suites, including some huge aft wrap balconies. But there aren't really any other perks except the space and priority embarkation. Want to see how the NCL experience compares. :)

the ccl and rcl boards are more active simply because there are more people sailing those lines. more ships = more passengers. i have noticed a difference in the tone of various boards though. carnival boards seem to be about how good their lines is and watch out if you don't agree. some kind of a group inferiority complex. rcl, on the other hand, considers their ships, food, cabins, itinerary, cabin stewards, shrimp cocktail sauce, and everything else, the best on the high seas and why would anyone else want to sail on any other line. some kind of a superiority complex. both do their fair share of ncl bashing i might add. i have sailed on those lines, and i enjoyed them and what they had to offer, but i have sailed ncl exclusively the last few years. the ships are nice, the food is fine, and the price is good. we book only suites usually cat. sf and for the extra few hundred dollars i pay, i'm getting pampered by butlers, escorted by a consierge, eating breakfast and lunch at cagney's. and i get a cool metallic cabin key. all for less than the average balcony on rcl. let them keep bashing ncl, and keep booking with their lines, and wearing tuxedos on tuesdays.
