cruiserguy11 Posted November 25, 2011 #26 Share Posted November 25, 2011 =shootr;31442888]Man, I wish there was something to get a few beers aboard, that and margaritas is about all I drink. They took my blender last time...[/shootr] One of the funniest things I've read on here...thanks for the laugh. Remember Grasshopper, if they take it, you get it back. The last time I attempted to get 16 beer aboard in my suitcase, they caught it, and told me to pick it up on the last day. I did, and brought the same beer backashore...lol. NO LOSS. Only the "holy hamburber Batman," people attempt to dissuade you from bringing spare booze aboard. Frig em. travelingtriumphess Posted November 25, 2011 #27 Share Posted November 25, 2011 but it worked. I chose to plant them amongst toilitries. I agree with previous person. I don't like the hassle. I think if I do it, I would just go through Bon Voyage. I like being on the up and up, but that's just me. :D
SE NC Posted November 25, 2011 #28 Share Posted November 25, 2011 No issues I put them in checked luggage all the timeIt's all about the placement What's the best way to place/pack them?
MortgageChick Posted November 25, 2011 #29 Share Posted November 25, 2011 Over the past 12 years and 31 cruises ( not all Carnival) we have used a variety of methods. Only nabbed once on RCl, as my husband got greedy in the amount. When we sail HAL we just order it to the room. HAL is very civilized only $27 a liter for Smirnoff. Which is cheaper than I can buy it in Canada. The other lines seem to get a bit carried away with the price. We have used RR for the past 4 cruises with no issue. Always in Checked luggage though. Almost Packed Posted November 26, 2011 #33 Share Posted November 26, 2011 never had it taken away...all 4 cruises all successful. the day CCL takes my Rum Runners...the day they lose more money as I will not be in the casino, I will not be purchasing cokes from my mini fridge or the bar, and I will not be in a good mood. i will purchase my carnival drinks on departure and that's it. so really, they hurt themselves. because they make a killing on me and cokes in my mini fridge...and i'll gladly pay that for my convenience instead of lugging on a pack of cokes. but i want my rum. funinthesun1964 Posted November 26, 2011 #34 Share Posted November 26, 2011 No. Wore 3 in my shorts at boarding. More in the luggage. Wore 3 in my shorts LOL. Hilarious. :D
BluexMoon Posted November 26, 2011 #35 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Iv had my pockets padded down twice now.. big pockets I guess are obvious, though I had nothing bad in them. If they do find them, they will discard them since the booze is not in the original container. Damn, there goes the cargo-pant plan.:( I got caught last year :o But like others said, I had been greedy. I had (2)32oz laid out flat in the center of my checked luggage, with locks on my bags. Hubby had to go unlock the luggage and give them my stash. I had smaller ones with better placement that made it though.

I only ask because I wore cargo shorts and had a rr in each pocket and walked right through without a problem. BluexMoon Posted November 26, 2011 #37 Share Posted November 26, 2011 I think it is funny, I read about people not liking the extra tips for many reasons. The bottom line is Carnival wants to get their employees more money (right or wrong) they are trying to help the crew. But then there are all the threads about smuggling booze on the ship, Rum Runners and other ways of "cheating" the crew out of the money they are working so hard for. Why do you try to screw the crew and company out of their hard money? Do you cheat other companies and employees also? or is it just the Cruise industry? When you are at the mall, do you stick things in your pants, or purse to try to get them out without having to pay the mark up for them? Do you sneak booze in the restaurant when you go out to dinner? Do you sneak candy in the movie? Or do you sneak in the movie all together? I think it is hard to believe that there are so many DISHONEST people! Smuggling booze is NOT stealing. All of your other examples are stealing. The booze we smuggle is legitimately paid for. And smuggling it is not breaking a LAW, its breaking a company policy. There is a big difference. I for one still buy drinks, but I really enjoy the convenience of having mixers in my room ready whenever I am. Thanks for pointing out our faults, we have all really enjoyed your sermon, Reverend
luvthebalcony Posted November 26, 2011 #38 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Nice soap box you are on. I purchase from Bon Voyage also and smuggle in rum runners. If the drinks were reasonably priced this would not be an issue. My sail and sign is well used on every cruise. For you to say that people are not honest is a little ridiculous. We also tip our servers above the pre paid gratuities. And no, we are not the kind of people who stagger around the ship being loud and causing scenes. Must be nice to be above everyone else. Also along with the high price of the drinks is the automatic tip included and sometime having to wait a long time for something why is that worth a tip ? Do I complain about that, NO, just sign my name and go on. Just my rant for the day. Have a great cruise I know I will

I think it is hard to believe that there are so many DISHONEST people! I don't shoplift from stores, but yeah - I've been known to have a spare bag of m&m's in my purse while at the movies. Don't worry though, I buy plenty of drinks while cruising as well as wine at dinner. Not knocking the cruise lines, but they make fairly weak drinks, so I prefer to top them off myself. I suppose I could feel guilty but in the last week, I read 3 different reviews where the person mentioned they don't buy drinks or photos or casino, and so on. I'm sure the cruise line would prefer me, with my smuggled rumrunners and bar tab/casino bill than the guest who purchases the cabin only.
BluexMoon Posted November 26, 2011 #40 Share Posted November 26, 2011 LMAO, What_if wants to punish us all for smuggling booze. Read his/her post on another thread: Originally posted by What_if: Sorry, I have not been around for a while, What_if I do not want to tip all the people that do not have anything to do with my trip? I don't think the dishwasher or sheet folder, need a tip from me. They just need to do their jobs, and be happy they have jobs! Arn't most of these people from third world countries that the average wage is very low anyway? Why do they need to be making $3000 and $4000 per month? I am not trying to start a fight, but I have read several of the threads about tipping, and just don't understand. I get tipping the waiters, and cabin stewart, and the drink waiter, why not the roomservice waiter/delivery person? All I can say is WOW!
Sarapdot Posted November 26, 2011 #41 Share Posted November 26, 2011 Wow!! Amen to those that smuggle :p I am taking my allowed wine with me in Dec and also I purchased from bon voyage but....(fill in the blank) I spend tons of money on photos, gift shop souvaniers and drinks on the lido. If I want to smuggle one runner full of something else that may not be available on the ship I don't think that's a bad thing and I don't think it's stealing. I'm still spending plenty of money on board.

juju2454 Posted November 27, 2011 #44 Share Posted November 27, 2011 So curiosity has got me wanting to ask , what do you bring? is it anything goes ( baileys or Kahlua or tequilla rose) or just clear liquid ones? I don't know if I am brave enough to do it, but sure sounds inviting....;)
Sylphy Posted November 27, 2011 #45 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Just wish it wasn't such a hassle to refill my mug in my room Bring a backpack with you booze put into a non-descript bottle that you can fill with lemonade from the lido as your night goes on! Nahh..I am too chicken to try it. I would die of embarrasment if caught, but I fully support those that do it and evade detection!:D Well that's why I put my hubby's name on all the luggage tags! He can deal with being called to the "naughty room" I can't!
Irishlinny Posted November 27, 2011 #46 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Has anyone ever tried using a wine skin instead of RR in the past? I have a wine skin but no RR and wondered if that would work? It should work...same idea. So curiosity has got me wanting to ask , what do you bring? is it anything goes ( baileys or Kahlua or tequilla rose) or just clear liquid ones? I don't know if I am brave enough to do it, but sure sounds inviting....;) Bring whatever you want...alot of people do this because they can't get their preferred drink from Bon Voyage. If they actually open your bag and see it, it's not going to matter what it is...they will take it. So if you want Bailey's or whatever, go for it. Bring a backpack with you booze put into a non-descript bottle that you can fill with lemonade from the lido as your night goes on! Well that's why I put my hubby's name on all the luggage tags! He can deal with being called to the "naughty room" I can't! What's nice about the RR's is that they have different options of what sizes to order. We actually got the one with varied sizes, so we have 32 oz down to 8 oz. The 8 oz fits very nicely in my little purse or DH's pocket. But we don't use them if we're in the bars at nite...more for if we're out on Lido or something. They will only call you to the naughty room if you lock your luggage...they call you to unlock it if they see something. If you don't lock it, they will open it and leave you a note;)
Sthomp Posted November 27, 2011 #47 Share Posted November 27, 2011 http://www.zydecocruiser.net/CarnivalConquest2011/08NewOrleans/index.htm Take a look at the Naughty table on debarkation day on this past Sunday. Even 3 prong plugs were taken. Yikes! I didn't think they would confiscate a bottle of mixer. I planned to bring a bottle of Bloody Mary mix along to make spicy red beers with our non-smuggled buckets of beer.

Virga Posted November 27, 2011 #49 Share Posted November 27, 2011 last cruise we filled freezer vac bags (double sealed) with booze and didn't have any trouble - great cheapskate versions of RRs =) although, the bon voyage we also got was so hassle free (no refilling water bottles from freezer vac bags) that we don't figure on bothering this cruise. I'll still be smuggling on some dry vermouth for my dirty martinis
