My Adventure of the Seas T/A reveiw with pics from April 15, 2012

Recommended Posts

The sea days seemed to fly by and although i did write down each day on paper i think i will approach it a little differantly than i planned so as to not bore everyone to tears. I guess i will just post pictures of the ship with some discription of what your looking at. It seems to be a good time frame to put them into a review where there are no islands to chat about. No particular order to them, just some interesting, at least i hope they will be interesting pictures of the ship. The one thing i can say up front about the ship is that it seemed to be more impressive every corner i went around.

I found the sea days to fly by. We origanaly thought they would drag and be painful, but it was just tje opposit. We layied out on the pool deck on days when it was hot and sunny and found plenty to do when it was not. We enjoyed the MDR for our lunches and had the oppurtunity to meet some very interesting people. Hopefully the said the same about us. LOL

We were able to upgrade from our original balcony cabin to the JS for this cruise i feel it was well worth the extra money. We are not lite travelers yet so having the extra room was nice. The bathroom was nice having the tub and the closet was great with all the room and extra storage. I really like the overall room inside the cabin itself. It felt more like a hotel room than a cruise ship cabin. Loved having the couch and two chairs although the chairs became catch alls for clothes and such, we did use the couch ofton.

I think one of the best features of the balcony cabins, is of course the balcony itself. We spent many hours there just watching the ocean pass by. While we were at sea, it felt more like we were sitting at the beach looking out over the vastness of the ocean. It was hard to believe that at one point there was more than 17,500 feet of water beneath us.

The only draw back or complaint that i have with RC's balconies is the size of the table. On ours we had two chairs and a lounger and some extra square footage. I could have done with the lounger and taken a bigger table. Forgive me if i have already said this. We loved eating on the balcony and found it tough with such little table space. But we made do.

We aptly named our cabin "The 9270 Balcony Bar" due to the fact that we spent so much time there enjoying our favorite libations!

Hi. I'm enjoying your review. I was on Adventure in '05 on my very first cruise. I'm looking forward to our cruise on her in 2013.

Is it true what you said, that they have a movie screen outdoors? I didn't know they had this on Adventure. Next thing you know, they'll open up a Chops. :)

You will have a great time on the AOS. The movie under the stars is not a screen but the white wall of that deck. Im sure it is a mechanical rooms of some kind. We never got to see it but i think it was pretty popular.

Great review! Love the pictures! Food porn?

Glad you like the pictures. Im not much for food pictures but there are a few coming up from Spain. The food was good, i thiought:)

This salad bar in the MDR for lunch was the best i have ever seen. You just told them what you wanted, knida like SubWay, and they made it right there. YUM YUM!!!

101_0257.jpg

We all know this guy!!! But here he is wearing a Make A Wish Foundation tee shirt that most everyone signed. It was later sold to a guy on the ship.

So here is the kids area, no adults were allowed, so we were told, and it is inforced. No problem for me, my kids didnot come. My problem was when we went to the late night comedy show, for adults only, there were kids there, several. The CD made it clear that it was a adults only show, gave them many chances to go somewhere else, even the comedian said the same thing. Parents did nothing. I love kids, have three of them, but sometimes it is not right to make everything a family event. Kinda bummed me out..

I took the opportunity to take the All access tour of the ship. I have to say, if you have the time, spend the money, $150.00 and take the tour. It was fantastic. Some parts were slow but for the most part it was great. The bridge, engine control room and the waste management system were very impressive. Not to mention the gallery and laundry.

Here are a few pictures.

Back stage of the Lyric was pretty interesting. Seeing the "PIT" was impressive.

The bridge was the best part. i could have stayied there all day.

The security was pretty tight on the bridge and they were always close by. My only issue was with the other tour takers. They seemed more interested in stumping the crew they what the crew/officers acually did. Blah Blah Blah is all i heard from most of them.

I was very impressed with the tour and how clean everything was. The bridge was spotless!!!

100_2838.jpg

Meat prep area, They had a vegi prep area too. All done before it went to the galley

The watchful eye of the Captain. Not sure of his name, never could understand him. He was very entertaining when speaking to the passengers.

Thanks so much for your great review! We were on the Caribbean Princess 4/15 sailing and had a great time. However, since Princess isn't sailing from San Juan in 2013 we booked the Adventure and can't wait!!! :D

Hubby took that tour also. he loved it. I was going to post pictures but he thought they were told they were not allowed to post any. Was he remembering incorrectly (as I didn't go, I just assumed was right)
