Charging for beverages in the Horizon Court Buffet

A co-worker of mine told me that her brother, a first time cruiser was charged for all beverages such as coffee and iced tea on his cruise through Alaska a couple of weeks ago when dining in the buffet. My co worker can't recall the name of the Princess ship but she said she will call her brother. Was there a misunderstanding between the two?

There is no charge in the buffet for coffee, tea, iced tea, lemonade, and juice at breakfast.

if he ordered a fresh brewed coffee...or a bottled iced tea...he might have been charged..

 

I was foolish in the MDR...

when a waiter offered iced tea....he specified..snapple...

and I said ok...whoopsy...add the charge!!

 

So....depending on what he ordered and how...in the buffet.there could have been a charge that could have been avoided...

At the buffet, you only pay for things like specialty coffees and teas, sodas, bottled water, alcoholic beverages.

Do they still offer Fruit punch as well. Either from a waiter or dispensed at the fountain dispenser? Is it free

there was fruit punch, never on Princess.

The only place that has fruit punch that I know of is the Sanctuary and its for fee or covered under the UDP card.

Having never "sactuaried", I wouldn't know that. However, I just recalled a place that might have had it; for a fee of course. The Diamond and Sapphire, in their internet cafe, have a bar setup. Used to be coffee and pastries were served (no charge) until 10:30 AM and I think I recall there being some sort of juice too. But never free.

OOPS - It was dispensed at a fountain station on Carnival. DH and i used it to mix our cocktails :eek:

Never was available on Princess, but the buffet does have lemonade at no charge.

It's part of their 'SPA' menu so I suppose it might be available in the Spa in some form, but never asked.
