Sizzlechest Posted September 10, 2012 #26 Share Posted September 10, 2012 If you read the post, OP has clearly stated that he will be feeding himself in the room before heading to the restaurant. I don't know if he means if he's going to set up the equipment in his room prior to going to the restaurant or if he's going to handle everything in the room. cruzsnooze Posted September 10, 2012 #28 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I don't think your wife would want to put you in this position so why not pass on the specialty restaurant this time ? I wish you a full recovery and a memorable cruise during your difficult times.
DMH15 Posted September 10, 2012 #29 Share Posted September 10, 2012 I too expect NCL to accomodate you and I want to also wish you both a great cruise and I so admire your strength in fighting your cancer.
janet_t1 Posted September 12, 2012 #30 Share Posted September 12, 2012 NCL is most wonderful. On my first cruise after having fought breast cancer my husband and I went to Cagney's for dinner. I was feeling fine, ordered my food but by the time it arrived I couldn't eat a bit. They asked if everything was ok, I explained I was suddenly not feeling well and wished my food to be removed and wished to just sit with my husband while he ate. When the check came they had only charged us for one. I told them we would be happy to pay as I did order, they said no they would be happy to waive the fee and hoped I was feeling better soon. I didn't even use the cancer word. I am sure if you speak with them they will be happy to have you sit with your wife. NCL is aways helpful with any special needs. Have and wonderful cruise and keep feeling better. Best to you and your wife.

chemist661 Posted September 25, 2012 Author #32 Share Posted September 25, 2012 I went last week for biospy at the hospital and the Dr could not do the biospy due to it being too close to my heart. Today, I will be seeing a lung-heart specialist that could do this biospy. The Oncologist fast tracked this authorization last week and I will find out when the specialist can do the procedure. I checked for the Oct 19 cruise (7 day NCL Boston-Quebec City). The airfare is fairly high but I am checking for alternatives. The cruise price has dropped a fair amount. I am pretty good at finding alternatives. (One example: driving to Montreal/alternative airports & flying from there, etc). I'll update as I get the information. But more so my prayers go out for you so that you do well in this entire situation. My best wishes go out for your family as well. I am sure that NCL will work with you, I simply could not imagine them charging you for it. Just remember they are human just like you and I and that is the beauty of humanity compassion and understanding are part of the qualities that we posses. I actually would not be surprised if they went out of their way to make your trip a more confortable and pleasurable one for you. Best wishes. :)

Karysa Posted September 26, 2012 #39 Share Posted September 26, 2012 I would explain the situation to the head waiter of the restaurant once on board. If there was an issue I would tell him that everyone on cruisecritic told me that under the circumstances there is no way that you would charge me. My next line would be " Boy will they be surprised to hear that you actually wanted to charge me. Well, I guess I needed one negative thing to add to my review so I'm not called a cheerleader." That should do it!:) Have a wonderful cruise.

riddle Posted September 27, 2012 #41 Share Posted September 27, 2012 I had a somewhat similar situation at a casino buffet. I had just had weight loss surgery but my family was gathering for a Thanksgiving meal and I wanted to join them. I brought my tuna and fruit and they had no problem with me not paying.
