onebzyldy Posted October 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2012 We r considering this. April 21-28 on Princess and then Apr 28-May 4 on Carnival. Can anyone share if they have done this before and how it all went?? Wondering what we would do with ourselves and all of our luggage until we can check in for the next cruise, they are both out of Port Everglades. Thoughts anyone, please :p Happy Cruising... Rare Keith1010 Posted October 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2012 I would disembark the ship in the last group and then slowly make your way over to the other ship and then have the porters take your luggage for that cruise. Keith

amazinglife Posted October 4, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2012 Lots of people do this. Get off last and you will be one of the first ones on.
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted October 4, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2012 We'll be doing this soon. We plan to disembark the Princess ship, which we feel pretty sure will be at Pier 2 or 4 in Port Everglades, in one of the last groups. After claiming our bags, I'm going to wait with the luggage while DH makes a soda run and then returns, and then we'll catch a taxi to the HAL pier and get in line to check in for that cruise. We don't have priority boarding on HAL, so we'll have to wait a bit to board, but it shouldn't be more than an hour or so.

Just thinking of being a copycat now ;) What do you think of this idea. We take a taxi together [with luggage in tow] for the soda run [do you know how close shops r to the terminal?] and have taxi wait and then take us back to the port. Happy Cruising..... hobo1937 Posted October 4, 2012 #10 Share Posted October 4, 2012 We will be doing this in early November...Emerald Princess to Celebrity Infinity. Our plan is to get off in one of the later disembarkation groups and take a taxi to the Infinity. I will be happy to post how this goes when we get back. DonnaF :D That works too. In fact, in the case of bad weather, that's what we'll do. If your ship is at Pier 2 or 4 (right next to each other), it's about a 5 minute walk to Walgreens, a 10 minute walk to Publix. There is also a Total Wines in the Publix shopping center. The taxi drivers are certainly used to waiting while cruise ship passengers do last minute shopping. We'll be going from the Emerald to the Noordam. Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted October 5, 2012 #15 Share Posted October 5, 2012 On the south side of 17th St. west of Walgreens in the Harbor Shops shopping center. Walk about 5 minutes past Walgreens on the same side of 17th St, turn left into the shopping center just before the Embassy Suites.

dorisis Posted October 6, 2012 #18 Share Posted October 6, 2012 Depending on how far apart the piers are and how much walking with luggage you want to do..A taxi might be best and easiest. ~Doris~
Chuck1j Posted October 6, 2012 #19 Share Posted October 6, 2012 We have done this before in Ft Lauderdale. Try to be last off not really that important but helps out some. Collect your bags, get a taxi over to your next ship. They will have the luggage bins setup for boarding, check with a baggage handler, make sure you tip him. Get back in the Taxi, go do what ever you want and return when your ready to board, we usually wait for the crowds to dissipate so we get back around 3. Your luggage should be waiting for your in your cabin, because you dropped it off early. We usually hang out at a local Hotel have lunch, then walk over to the Shopping center and take a taxi back to the ship.
koolforkatz Posted October 6, 2012 #20 Share Posted October 6, 2012 We did that in March. We usually like to take a 14 day cruise but had a freebie cruise credit from Carnival we had to use. Our first cruise was an 8 nighter on Carnival. We dragged our heels as long as we could getting off that ship and then took a cab over to where the Celebrity Solstice was docked. It wasn't cheap considering the distance was practically walkable, but there's some type of flat fee they have to charge. We waited in line there for maybe only abt 30-40 minutes before they were ready to start letting people come through security, etc. Got on the Solstice by about 11.30. So really we were only standing around doing nothing for a short period of time. It worked out really well for us and I would do it again.
macmax Posted October 6, 2012 #21 Share Posted October 6, 2012 Hi Donna, We're doing a 2 ship B2B (Ruby to Westerdam) in November and are planning to take a taxi over to HAL, drop of our luggage (keeping our carry-on with us) and then have the taxi drive us up to the Galleria Mall for some shopping. We will then take a cab back to the ship around noon.
