Lars Bengsston went from The Pearl to The Spirit and now to The Jade. Yes, he is very funny. One of his lines is: "It takes a Swede to run a Norwegian ship".

That's the one! He also gave a talk about men going to the buffet in tank tops - don't! Nobody wants pit hair in the food! He cracked us up the whole week.

We are just off the Spirit and it is clear that there are many movements going on and a lot of the team did not know thier next postings due presumably to the Getaway. (if they do know they are not saying)

Seems that the usual faces are going/have gone to Getaway to open the ship but beyond that thier is going to be (so we are told but have no personal knowledge) a lot of movement next year. Even if people have personal contacts we here crew are moving mid contract between ships to cover for shortages.

What appears clear to us is thier are a lot of new hires at most levels

Spirit

Captain - Vanja (sorry fully escapes me)

HD Orazio Caci

F&B George Abadara (not sure of spelling)

Beveridge manager Manny

Restaurant Manager - Kaya Aydin

CD Gio - Not even sure he was on the ship - anonymous

Concierge - Yahida

GSM Humberto

Praying for our Norwegian Crew & Their Families and Pray they find them Safe! I know they are trying to Contact their Loved ones at home. Let's All Give Them Our Support. Wonder if there will have to be crew changes in Miami due to the typhoon.

????Please! Can some cruisers getting off of the NCL Star give me an idea of the...... Captain, Staff Capt., Hotel Director, Chief Engineer, Food & Beverage, Cruise Director, Head of Housekeeping or Others not mentioned here like Executive Chef, etc.????

Who is taking the place of Yannis Kasilas!? Is David still the Concierge!?

I would like to know for my 8th cruise on the NCL Star Embarking 11/24/13:D

Thanking You In Advance,

Ruth & Bill (crusingalong)

Great Idea!

There actually IS a format to this thread already...however most people simply ignore it. I guess it is easier to a) ask instead of reading and b) chat about crew instead of listing who is where.

Getting this in a usable format might be like herding cats.

The present format is almost impossible to use. Even if you keep up with new posts, by the time you're 90 days out and make your final payment (when you really need the info for a specific ship) you have to go back and cull through huge numbers of posts and hope they're currect.

By the by, I understand about "herding cats". I know first hand there can be antipathy with a "Catty" attitude towards List Keepers (like myself) :D

I just thought we could Post a New List the First Day of the Month and let folks fill in the blanks. That way you would only have to go back for 30 days (at most) of posts for current info.

If you need information for a specific ship, just use the search function while in this thread. It works for me.

I don't see it quite the same way. If the format that the OP outlined was followed, all you would have to do is scroll back from the end to find the ship you were looking for (or use search).

What makes the thread tough to use is all of the chit-chat posts (like ours) that don't follow the format. (How many "Who will be the ___ on the ___ in ___" posts do we need?) There isn't "huge numbers of posts to cull through"...it doesn't even look like there are two new posts per day...it would be entirely manageable if the format the OP outlined was followed.

But then again, what can you do?

How do you use the search function to quickly learn who the HD & Concierge is on the Epic this month ?

With automatic changes every 3 months and the "new system of rotating ship assignments more often, NCL officer postings has become a at sea game of musical chairs.

Sorry to have been a bother and interruption. :o

You have been on many cruises and generally book suites, so you know the precruise concierge can answer your question.

And when you have your answer, please come back and post your new found information. :)

Sorry that you find "search" to be such a vexing concept. Perhaps an Into to Computers class or any 5 year old could prove useful in bringing you up to speed.

The purpose of this thread, as proposed by the OP, is to list who served on a ship that you were ON. Which, by definition, means "after the cruise". The thread was not set up to predict the future...and NCL doesn't have a policy of informing Cruise Critic members of their employee assignments.

If you really feel that your method is better, then you should start your own thread instead of trying to hijack one that somebody else started (don't bother with the search, a quick guideline review should provide clarfication).

Of course, I appreciate your willingness to debate as it simply proved my point about how short attention spans can easily make a good topic difficult to navigate.

Dear SeaShark

I choose to ignore your opening personal attack as better suited to the other "Banned Social Media" which is known more for it's vulture metality than it's conviviality.

As to the issue at hand, I'm not trying to hyjack this thread. You yourself know that the OP's system has been ignored. I suggested following the OP's idea by:

1. Posting the current info of the ship's management team for each ship after completing a cruise, (OPs Plan) and

2. Merging the latest info for the entire fleet with a Big Post once a month. (My idea)

My suggestion was an attempt to move closer to what the OP intended after the "herd of cats" (your term, not mine) had abandoned the OPs plan.

I prefer one stop shopping when researching any topic. Also, I want my info to be current, so I can rely on it for use when I board the ship for my next cruise.

As for the future, this thread dies in 35 days and will require a new thread: "2014 Identity Captain, Hotel Director, Concierge, etc."

When I return from my Dec 4-13 Gem cruise, I will post all of the info suggested by the OP on the NEW THREAD. I hope some one will follow the OP's idea and post all of the same info in Sep 2014 for use on my Oct 11 - Nov 2 cruise on the Sun. (I won't need the info for my 23 day B2B Spring cruises on Royal Caribbean and Princess)

In conclusion, I thnk next year's thread should follow the OP's Original Proposal which I repost below.

for those who are interested in getting information on ship personnel and get it, i'm sure the rest of us would love it if you would copy and paste this list to a word pad document, print it out, take it on your cruise and fill it out (just ask anyone at the front desk where the pictures are) and then return the favor by copying and pasting to this thread. Thanks :)

again, with the introduction of new mega ships from now through 2016, odds are great that staff will change.

At Ncl aren't many of the top officers assigned to ships for three year rotations? That at least seems a bit easier to understand... Maybe

NCL has been increasing the rotation to other ships. Initially, it appeared to be done to staff the Epic, Breakaway and Getaway.

It now seems there may be an additional component to break up any mindset "that's MY ship and replace it with "that's MY NCL"
