Unbelievably awesome news means no cruise

Congratulations! We also tried for years and we finally had our first son in 2009. I don't blame you for bein cautious. We were too! We didn't want to go too far away for fears of anything going wrong. Even after our son was born, we were deathly afraid to take him on a cruise because of all the "what ifs". When we finally cruised, we drove to the closest port and took a quick cruise to the Bahamas and Key West. We worried about going to ports too far off the beaten path.

We now have a daughter who was born on Feb 2012. We actually dropped our fears and cruised when my wife was just shy of 24 weeks of pregnancy with her and didn't worry. We are now planning our daugter's 1st cruise (to Alaska) so we've come a long way. :)

Enjoy this amazing time and cherish every moment of it! It's truly a wonderful experience! :)

We had a cruise booked in 1999 that we ended up cancelling because I was pregnant - and I'm really glad we did - I ended up having some minor complications which required me to be close to the labor and delivery department throughout my pregnancy!

Take heart, though, once your child turns 2, it's Camp Carnival time!!! :-)

Such exciting news. Congratulations are in order for sure :D

It always seems like when you stop trying and wondering "If", is when something happens.

Talking a cruise later, with a baby and if you are smart and have enough $$$ a gramma. You will have a great time.

I know some think taking a little one is silly, but going on vacation with out your little one is silly to me.

We went with our 8 month old and I know that was easier than taking a 3 yr old or a teen :D

(no way am I leaving my little one with strangers, not even the wonderful Carnival ones)

Having Gramma on the cruise was the key to making it a great cruise.

She loves being with the baby, and the parents get a few special moments (hours) to relax.

What ever you do, what ever you decide...only the two of you and the Dr. can know what is best.

Congratulations again...

The best to you and your wife. Grandaughter & her husband are not sailing with us in March for the same reason. Lots of cruises in the future with the anticipated little one. Sail out of Florida and you can do Disney World, too. When baby arrives, please make an announcement on here. Good news always makes us smile. ;)

Op - I wish you and your DW all the best.

Everyone is different but isn't it a little early to be sharing this good news especially after your long wait?

I am not being nasty but each pregnancy is long and drawn out ( unless you are on "I didn't know I was pregnant":D).

I expect negative comments for saying this but please believe me that announcing very early only increases outside pressures.

Perhaps I am way off and you are only using the anonymity of CC to discuss this. If so, good!

Good luck.

I really only posted this because I was wondering about the cancellation. Guess part of me did want to tell some people too! :D

We're trying not to let anyone know until we're a little further down the road as we have had such a difficult time.

I have to say...everyone's reaction and kind words has really made our day. Thank you all so much!!

After 15 years of trying my wife is pregnant!!!! We are so happy I can't even express but.....we have a cruise booked in June.

She's going to be right up against the 24 week cutoff for pregnant women. We really don't want to risk anything happening regardless of whether she's over the limit or not...it's been such a long hard struggle we are not into taking any risks.

We booked Early Saver so should I just expect to eat the $500 deposit or can it be used for a rescheduled cruise...maybe next year?

Give Khloe Kardashian some tips. Congrats.

After 15 yrs. I would say you have been blessed at a time when you need it.

Take the $50 p forfeiture penalty and book something later on.

Congrats!

Congratulations! I love posts like this! We too struggled for 11 years to get pregnant so I understand your excitement. We will be heading on our 2nd cruise with our miracle baby in a few short weeks. Here's hoping you and your wife have smooth sailing from here on out.
