linderbelle Posted January 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 29, 2013 Getting ready to book Emerald Princess on 12/29 sailing and this will be a celebration of our 40th anniv. Ports are St. Thomas, Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire, and Aruba. Should we pick port or starboard for balcony stateroom.

5HappyCampers Posted January 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 29, 2013 We went last year on a Southern Caribbean itinerary and some port stops were Grenada and St Thomas. We had a starboard balcony. We got to see alot of these islands arriving and departing. We were assigned to a window table on starboard side as well. Since we were not on port side, I can't tell you if we missed anything!
charleysmom04 Posted January 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2013 We were on that exact cruise November 2011 as well as the other itinerary this past November. Both times we had a port side balcony and that was the side with the "view" of the ports themselves in all the islands. If you prefer to view the sea while in port, book the starboard side. At sea, it makes no difference what side you are on. We prefer to be on the port side as it's the place to be when you sail out of Fort Lauderdale, lots of fun sailing out past the condos and all the people waving and blowing horns! Mom33 Posted January 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2013 It really won't matter which side you are on. The ship may dock in the opposite direction from our cruise. :) Enjoy!
seafish Posted January 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2013 Doing Emerald Princess Southern Caribbean 10 Day Medley in a couple weeks .. probably not a big-deal either way .. but IMO agree - Port Side on THIS itinerary has the best views/ports - especially with a balcony. Agree with this quote-also you will have the sun on your balcony for 2 days after leaving Aruba. we done this trip 2 years ago and the last 2 days were great on our balcony

CruisinEars Posted January 30, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 30, 2013 We were on the Emerald for this itinerary for Christmas and had a port side mini suite. It was perfect as we faced the port at every stop. It was fun to watch the port operations as well as any late comers back to the ship.:p
cormike1 Posted January 31, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2013 We just got off the Emerald with this itinerary. We were Port side and we faced the islands and loved it. Go with Port.
Putterdude Posted January 31, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 31, 2013 We were with Cormike1on the Emerald for the past two cruises. Port side will face you into the city in Bonaire, Aruba and Dominica. In Grenada the pier is at 90* so it's a pick'm as to which side of the dock you will be on.
