White Hot Party on Dawn

Hi! I am super excited to go on our first NCL cruise on the Dawn in July and have been doing all my research!

I have heard (and googled) the white hot party and have some questions?

- when is it?

- where is it?

- do you have to wear white?

- do you bring your own glow sticks?

- can teenagers go ( traveling with dd and her BFF both 14)

- beside music and dancing anything special go on?

Thanks so much!!!

Tam

It is a dance party. You don't have to wear white but most do. They give out glow necklaces but run out quickly. It starts at 10:30 pm and usually 2nd to last night. Kids are allowed for the 1st half hour or so( then they should be in bed anyway ). It is held in the lounge on deck 7. I think it is the spinnaker lounge.

It is in the Spinnaker lounge which was bad in my opinion. On the Sky it's on deck by the pool, in the Spinnaker on the Dawn it's too crowded so I didn't even go.

But if you've never been, go early and at least get a taste of it. You don't have to wear white but wear some white if you have it. They sell white hot party t-shirts in the gift shop.

It's dance/party music usually done by a dj.

All ages can go but the club is adults only after 11pm so maybe they will announce that at that time?

- 10PM until whenever it fizzles out.

- Spinnaker Lounge, rain or shine. Our night was a gorgeous night so no moving outdoors if the weather is favorable, shame!

- No but you'll feel weird if you don't have at least one thing on that's white, I didn't since I didn't think we'd go and I felt a bit odd but not a big deal.

- You can, many did, but they will hand out glow necklaces for the first 15 minutes or so for free.

- they can attend for the first hour but must be out of the lounge by 11PM (I believe that rule is for the entire trip, anyone under 18 must be in a cabin or with a kids club thing after 11PM). However, there were kids definitely under 18 in there after 11PM so I am not sure how strict this rule is.

- Just people watching I guess? They had an ice bowl with vodka, a tower of beer with blinky cups, souvenir blinky cups for sale and everyone from Norwegian is wearing white + most are in angel wings. They have a dance team to kick it off and it goes from there.

I have a few pictures from it in my review (Norwegian Dawn 2/2) if you want to look :)

Went to the White Hot Party on the Star last year. Held in the Spinnaker Lounge. Could only fit 30 dancers on the dance floor. Very tightly packed, hard to dance without smashing into someone else. Played mostly current dance tunes-disco in nature, with strobe lights flashing in everyone's eyes. Started at 10:30 am, right after the end of the last night's main show. Thought it was good for those in the twenties, but not that appealing to us over the age of forty. NCL staff makes it a big effort to "sell" jello shots of vodka during the party.

You don't need to wear white, but white apparrel looks better under the strobe lights.

Thanks everyone for the info - very helpful and I will be sure to pack something white for us all!

Might be fun to check out for the first 1/2 hour or so (I am sure the girls would love it) but being the 40 something group - not sure I will stay til the end!!

But will try it out - if for nothing else for the cool blinky cup!! :D

Thanks for the information on the White Hot Party. I've been hearing a lot of about this and glad that you and others give us an idea of what to expect. I don't think this is something I would like to do. Don't get me wrong, I love to party, but being in a crowded packed room trying to dance with tons of other people is something I don't think I would like doing. I'm mid-50's and hubby is a lot older, so off to the casino for us. :D

Look for some youtube videos to give you an idea of what to expect. You do not have to wear white but most people do. They will also sell T-shirts in the gift shop for $15 that your daughters may like. They will distribute the glow in the dark sticks that become bracelets, necklaces etc. I also go to the Dollar Tree and bring some other items along. Children are welcome for the Family Friendly party and then it becomes more adult. They also offer drinks in blinky glasses. You can get any drink including soft drinks in the glass. Love ours but don't let them soak in the sink. I made that mistake.

Thanks for all the info. I love the idea of getting extra glow stuff and I will add that to my ever growing list! Looking forward to at least checking it out!

Thanks,

Tammi
