Quantum of the Seas - Deck Plans

Recommended Posts

Don't get too excited:

The slide-show below contains a little bit of interesting SPECULATION, but absolutely NO facts. Mind you, that's all we have at present!;)

Official Deck plans have NOT been released yet!

Do you think RCI will really be able to 'wow' us with this ship after the ultimate 'wow' of Oasis &Allue? I'n not so sure?

I've been looking through the latest material and it's quite easy to see that the underlaying deck plans are from the Celebrity Solstice class. Pools have same shape as Solstice with the same design of the staircases going down from the deck above. Solarium is also of the Solstice design with the central steps up to the actual pool.

The deck plans shows shafts for two separate funnels as Solstice have. Look at the test model on the Meyer Werft web page and one can see only a single funnel on the Quantum of the Seas.

I'm sure this is a early test to see what could be done with the Solstice class design to make it into a RCI styled ship. When looking at the models leaked and the test model one can see that the ideas from this test is taken to the final design.

Most likely!

I guess many concepts are commissioned and dismissed. However I do find the design process quite interesting.

It sounds like 'Quantum' could be an updated/larger version of the ‘Radiance’class designed for a similar cooler-climate cruises leaving the Voyager, Freedom and Oasis classes for the hot climates?

Would love the new class to have a little more feeling of "elegance" than Freedom and Oasis class. Great ships for sure, but except for Central Park on Oasis class, the decorating (especially the staterooms) just leaves me cold.

Perhaps a little more elegance would interfere with their "get out there" message?

Royal don't even use Get Out There as a slogan any more. Not for a good few years now.

They've focused on building the fun in the sun " wow" ships and the loyalists have been whining for years. These ships sound like they are going to be built for a more sophisticated mature traveler in cooler port intensive areas, the kinds of folks that keep packing their Radiance class ships, which are not getting any younger. ( The ships, not the folks!;)) It will please a large loyal part of their customers and keep them competitive in more expensive far northern and far southern locals by having more passengers on one ship, which improves the economies of scale for the cruise line.

FWIW, RCCL has some of this in the Celebrity line and the Solstice class ships. For those long-time RCCL cruisers that have made Diamond, you can sail on X as Elite.

I would love a ship with more of the Radiance class feel. The Solstice class is very beautiful and classy but not enough glass for me. I also love the retractable glass ceiling in the solarium of the Radiance class.

I am more excited about sailing this new class than I was on the Oasis class. I'm looking forward to hearing/seeing more of this ship as the details are revealed.

Hello !

I have been studying the deck plans and trying to figure out by color, size, and location, just which cabin is which! However, I can't understand by the color and legend description what cabin # 8320 is, as well as #8724. I don't think I can afford either one of them, but it will help me to narrow down what the other cabins are!

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

- Miriam

( Looking forward to the 1/11/15 - 12 Southern Caribbean sailing in any cabin!!!)

I'm actually looking at a 2016 on Quantum. So I'll be looking for ward to all of your reviews!!!!;)

I'm actually weighing 2016 between Quantum, Anthem or the Oasis Class III (whatever she'll be called).

Last cruise was on the Allure, and it was awesome!

We live in NYC, so going on Quantum would be great and save us on airfare.

But the Anthem will be newer at that point, so if she's driving distance from us, we would probably opt to go on her. Also, like the Oasis class, i'm sure that there will be issues discovered on the first ship, and corrected on the second go-around.

2016 is so far away!!!!!!! EEK!!!

 You make a good point about the Anthem being newer by 2016 and probably being a little better than Quantum.

Decisions...decisions...#firstworldproblems! :D

I'm planning to do the Allure for Spring Break 2015! We saw her this past March while on the Mariner. My son says: We HAVE to do THAT ONE! :D

I'm glad 2016 is so far away! I need time to pay! LOL!!!! I'm bracing myself for the sticker shock that I'll surely get when I see the pricing.

Anyone know why they are pulling the balconies in from the hull? One thing I always like about RCI ships is that the balconies are even or beyond the hull, but it looks like they will be pulled in on QoS. Reminds me of a lot of other companies' ships.

I don't know why but I am no happy about it. I agree with you. I don't want the sun to reflect in my eyes from a life boat cover (Radiance class) when I'm sitting on a balcony. That design concept limits where I will book a cabin.

I noticed on Q the hump is all Grand Suites......bummer.

It is my understanding it has to do with life boat accessibility and the ease of dropping life boats while a ship lists (not sure if that is the correct word).
