Live from Seabourn Legend

Jim and Cindy enjoyed their excursion in St Barths. There were only 8 on it. They didn't get to see a plane fly in, though.

Lunch was British. The fish and chips was very good.

Todd won a nice Seabourn jewelry box at golf with a score of 55 (top score of the cruise).

I went on the galley tour, but they did not have anything going on, and there was not much to see. We did not get to see any of the stores, etc. that I have seen on other ships. They served champagne and caviar, and I was the only one that didn't have caviar. I guess we are the odd ones not liking it.

At dinner, we joined the destination services manager, and I recognized him from Silversea. The personal shopper, Kelly was at our table, also. She is soon going to Holland America for the Alaska season and then Silversea.

Mapu from the Cruise Critic roll call and her husband were at our table. Also, we had two solo ladies.

I had ginger spring roll, the yellow pepper soup, mixed green salad, and I ordered the fish. It was too fishy for me, so they brought me the filet special. It was nice.

They came to our table to ask us for a special order for tonight, saying they are aware this is our 20th anniversary. The standard menu has osso bucco tonight, so I did not have to special order that. We ordered chateaubriand for the rest of them, and I did order the seared foie gras.

After dinner, they had the Rock the Boat dance on deck 7. They had the most extensive flambé dessert setup I have ever seen. We didn't have any of it, but it looked exceptionally good. The music was all live from all of the entertainment staff and was mostly 60s music. I danced some.

We played roulette, and I think we are officially done with that casino!

We are just arriving in St. Kitts. We are all doing the train tour this morning.

Today, we all went on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway Tour. It was a great tour. The rail part was a great way to get a lot of scenic photos (as was the land part). Soda and rum drinks were included (unlimited). There was a narrator and also local singers. After the rail portion, they took us the rest of the way around the island by mini-van. We ended up at the duty free shops. Todd and I rode on the top level on the train and got a lot of pictures and some video. I figured the locals would be annoyed by the train, but everyone waves and seems to look forward to it.

Today is the last day of trivia and golf.

At 6:15, there is some culinary event, so the show is at 10 pm tonight.

After the tour, we came back to the room and found a number of gold balloons floating around, so we took some anniversary pictures. That was a nice surprise.

After the really great excursion where we had wonderful weather, the dark clouds started rolling in. The Verandah Café was packed inside and out for the first time. We had to sit with others, but that was very nice.

By golf time, it was almost black outside, but Duncan was determined to get in all 3 rounds, and round 3 was finished underneath the cover. I admired the guys trying to keep putting out the seat cushions. They had to keep taking them up.

Anyway, Todd won the whole thing and received a logo flashlight.

Our team won the trivia for the night and for the week. We received insulated mugs. All others in attendance received a deck of cards.

After that, the epicurean event began in the reception area with several stations of gourmet bites and champagne, kir royales, and mimosas. Some people were already dressed for evening, while others were still in their daytime outfits. It didn't seem to be an issue for anyone. With 150 onboard, this has been a country club atmosphere.

We had a nice time taking pictures in our cabins over a toast for our anniversary and then pictures down in the dining room. Everyone fussed over us a lot. The double order of foie gras was divine. The rest of them had the shrimp cocktail. This was the first time it was only two shrimp, and they were the enormous ones (aren't those 7 or 8 to a pound?). I had half of one of Todd's, and it was larger than my thumb (yes, half).

The osso bucco was my least favorite I have had, however, it was falling off the bone tender. The anniversary strawberry shortcake was huge, and it was such a fun bonding experience with Roman.

I can't imagine anyone being afraid to do special orders on this ship. Since they have cut down the dining venues due to the amount of people onboard, they are all over with little pads just offering this service and making sure everyone is pleased. They are very detailed in the questions and super efficient.

Today is the Prickly Pear Island party. We have done that twice with Silversea before. It will be interesting to see how Seabourn compares.

I hope people are continuing to read. I am afraid I am a bit dull and long-winded.

We enjoyed the Broadway tunes show at 10 pm last night. I don't know how they change clothes so fast. We do miss having production shows. At the shows, they have full drink service from row to row. We also received a program with the song list, so we were following along. That was great.

Thank you, everyone for the encouragement. Marcie, For most of the few things we see missing for us, they seem to have them on Soujourn and Odyssey, though nobody is going to turn them Italian for me. However, they do have the European formal service we used to love when we first started on Silversea.

What is super great about this line is they give the formal service but still are allowed to mingle with guests. There is no watchful eye, and the guests love this style. Today, on the island, they got to do some service and some play. Milli even played volleyball with Todd and others.

This morning, they started everything early on the island in North Sound because the weather here is SO beautiful. We had already enjoyed a couple of hours of watching so many types of interesting boats zipping by from the cabin here in the British Virgin Islands.

Todd and I still took our time to relax here. I had already started a nice soak with the aromatherapy that Natasha brought for me before they announced the early start.

No worries, they did not end early.

It is so nice being on a small ship. Todd and I leisurely tendered at 11:58 after waiting in a line of zero!

Some were already in action since they opened the beach at 10:30. Towels, water, soft drinks rum punches and a full bar were there, along with steak, grilled lobster, burgers, hot dogs, chicken mahi mahi a whole salmon, a huge chunk of pig, and many salads and desserts and an ice cream bar.

We, again don't do caviar, but it was fun to go out there and indulge in the champagne and watch people grabbing starfish below their feet and pointing out the stingrays.

There was a great steel band that also sang reggae and other island styles.

Todd and I had a blast riding the banana boat twice, then he played volleyball. His mom and dad stayed longer than I thought they would, and it was a relaxing day.

We came back after 3, and I got in the hot tub for over an hour. We are watching 'Taken 2' as the bags sit up on the bed.

Though we started and ended in a U.S. territory, we still have custom forms also awaiting us.

I will be posting a lot of pics after I get somewhere with decent internet.

Glad you enjoyed the beach BBQ -- one of my favorite Seabourn treats.Just don't get me started of my tales of the banana boat. Last year at our beach BBQ as part of our two week Quest holiday cruise I decided to let one of the women on the island braid my hair -- thought it would keep it out of my face and make swimming easier. It did not dawn on my that two days later I would be in our suite in tears trying to unbraid it. Another instance of out smarting myself! And yes, it is nice to see the crew get to let their hair down a bit( no pun intended). Just like you caviar is not my thing but I love getting into the action wading into the surf to get some for Sailor Boy. What a fun way to end your cruise!Thank you again for the evenhanded account.

I had a grandaughters hair braided in Mexico. She thought it was wonderful, then I read all the horror stories about lack of hygiene with the combs etc. and spent the rest of the vacation scared I was going to be taking her back to her parents crawling with lice!

Lovely report Debbie. About the only thing I have not enjoyed on my two Seabourn Cruises is returning to the cabin and finding the luggage on the bed!

We have been only on Legend and visited Prickly Pear last December so it was great to re-live that experience through your writings. ( I quite like caviar! )

Jim and Todd and I went up for the sail away. A lot of people were up there. One group was singing and pretty merry. People were all determined to enjoy last night.

I went to see Suzie and Lee and have martinis while the rest of my bunch went to Duncan's guitar concert. I got to hear him at the culinary event, and he is quite good.

We didn't have much dinner. We were full and not in love with the menu for the first time. We almost did a pizza in the cabin but didn't want to miss seeing everyone.

Todd and I opened the drawer and found some blackjack chips and some slot tokens. We went and played one more time. This is the only cruise or land trip we have ever lost every time we played and come home down. I guess it was our turn.

Bags were supposed to be out by 11:30. At 10:50, they came knocking on our door. We were almost finished.

This morning, we will have a nice breakfast and head home.

We are burnt this morning. I missed sunscreening my shoulders.

This has been quite a nice cruise and a much needed vacation.

Debbie,

Thank you for your travelogue. You provided a well balanced review that brought back many good memories, especially the wonderful beach barbeque with the banana boat rides at Prickly Pear. I didn't take the train ride in St. Kitts last time I was there, but I think will next time. Looking forward to your photos.

Safe travels home,

johnny

Seabournaddict,

Now you tell me!!!

LOL. wasn't something I had given any thought to either. On a "Pacific" cruise there were dozens of people (both old and young) who had their hair braided on shore. I always "wondered" how many started to scratch after a couple of days! :D
