New Cruise Line out of Florida??

I have recently heard some Floridians talking about getting a new cruiseline out of Florida (they live in the Tampa area). Does anyone know anything about that?

Of course I have no detail...no name or any knowledge of it....

I don't, there are plenty of lines and plenty of ships already in my book. I can't imagine it is true given the significant $$$ needed to start one and the fact that the industry already has too much capacity.

The only new cruise line I have heard of is Pearl Seas coming out in 2014 but do not think they sail out of Tampa

I wonder if they meant NCL started cruising out of Tampa thispast winter? I know for Tampa because of the bridge, the ship has to be small by today's standards. I wish Celebrity still cruised out of Tampa but I think even the Connie and Millie are too large.

 

I do think though a ship that did dinner crusies and perhaps could also be chartered for weddings would be nice, something along the lines of the old Seaescape but done better, as in have better quality not just a "bargain price."

 

I would think there are plenty of older ships that could be refurbished for that. I read the original Pacifc Princess is just lying in a dock in Italy. That ship, spruced up with a "Love Boat" TV show theme would be neat.

 

If it was done right people would spend a couple of hundred a person for a nice dinner cruise. People spend that much money all the time at the FL theme parks. I would anyway.

 

Others would love it for a casino.

long shot but maybe the time share and vacation club salesmen and city street hawkers were talking up the celebration or a overnight ship and being fast and loose on the details and facts.
