Breakaway casino why not?

Has it ever occurred to you to get out of the Dockyard area (the most boring part of Bermuda) and go to where people actually live? Hamilton? St. George? Lots of stuff goes on at night there.

Oh now!...

That'd be like visiting a foreign land!

If the weather is bad they will tender so if the dock is safe why not dock the ship in bad weather, sorry, this dock is unsafe accident waiting to happen.

Too bad some folks think all the bad things are going to happen. This is what keeps FOX News alive. The world has lots of bad things. Luckily it has WAY WAY WAY more good things. (they just do not get the same attention).

The dock is fine. I can not wait to go.

I cannot find a single thing to do or see in Bermuda at night, does anybody have any suggestions, we do love listening to music at night.

With as many times you've asked about the UBP I figured you'd be spending your evenings drinking.

Ships skip MANY ports if the weather is bad. This isn't unique to Bermuda.

I'm surprised they'd tender if the weather wasn't good.

No gambling in Bermuda and that's fine with the many people who visit there, on cruises or on land stays. Plenty of other places to go if gambling is your thing.

Exactly. I'd also like to add that the Bermuda cruise on the Breakaway is 7 days. The first evening and the next two days are at sea, before entering Bermuda territorial waters. After that there are three almost full days in Bermuda. The ship leaves Friday evening at 5PM and by 7Pm is out of Bermuda territorial waters, and returns to US territory (3miles out) around 5am Sunday.

Therefore, the casino is open on Sunday night of departure from NY, Monday, Tues, Friday evening, Saturday until the wee hours. If that is not enough time for you for gambling then (a) you have a gambling problem or (b) you might enjoy taking your vacation in Las Vegas, Reno, Atlantic City or if you are inclined to the Caribbean, perhaps Aruba.

LOL funny you should say that because my other half said ipad has games but we now know since its been years we last been on NCL that NCL has the finest entertainment and it will be available to us in port.

Its not that he didn't have his fun we got back from Vegas in April, we just got off a ship less than two weeks ago and going on June 9th on the Breakaway, then in Oct have another Vegas trip so your right who needs the casino!!! I want shows, I want to listen to music and I want the good food with family. :D

Exactly! The last time I cruised with family, it was so much fun just spending time together with them ... You'll have a great time on the cruise and I'm jealous you're going to Vegas. Either way you'll have fun on both trips!

Beachcomberbill- We only do the slots and only 3 times a year, this year we had an extra trip so it be 4, I not think that qualifies us for having a gambling problem. Many cruises at times we find the comedians to be very boring and not funny, or on other cruise lines such as Carnival the shows to be terrible....so we hit the casino, its fun. We just find the slots entertaining something we do not have near home either.

NYCmode hello- :D:):p

Gaycarla, I guess you hate facts, because the non-partisan group "media Matters", has rated Fox news the most factual, not only are they most factual but their ratings quadruple Msnbc(who rated last in truthfulness) and CNN(2nd of last). So if the truth is not your cup of tea by all means watch Msnbc and Cnn. Fact

The Dockyard has improved considerably in the past couple of years with the WEDC looking for ways to satisfy the ever growing number of passengers arriving on almost a daily basis. The National Museum, Segway tours, Swim with the Dolphins, the Snorkel Park, bicycle, jet ski, sailing, PADI diving, mini golf, black bay beach, Bermuda Arts Centre, the Rum Factory, Dockyard Glassworks, Clayworks, Craft market, numerous shops, and even a new cinema. There are events on many nights in the dockyard as well.

If that is not enough to do then there is the whole of the island to explore as you say. Three days and two nights is not enough to do more than scratch the surface of things to do.

The dock was completed enough for the ship to dock there successfully last week and this week. There shouldn't be any issues, nor the need for NCL to "negotiate" a waiver of gambling law. If it wasn't safe, they wouldn't be docking there.

Sounds like you need to try a different ship and itinerary.

I just came back from the May 12th voyage. There is nothing wrong with the dock. I got on and off the ship two or three times a day with no problem. Do YOU think that NCL would risk their brand new ship on a risky dock? All the damn casino does is give you second hand smoke and steal your money. The only reason they comp someone is because they've lost plenty and they want them to lose more. Their are shows every night that run to midnight and beyond. It's only 2 nights by the way, the casino and shops reopen once the ship gets out of Bermuda waters. They were open by 7 PM on my voyage. Please excuse my frustration. I have post cruise disorder. I hope you have a wonderful time! :)

The dock doesn't meet international standards and the government of Bermuda admits it. The Breakaway will not be able to dock in high winds and a pilot remained onboard the ship should it have to moved quickly in the event of a change in weather. While work on the wharf continues, the southernmost mooring dolphin won't even be built until after the cruise season is over. This information comes directly from the Public Works minister, the government official in charge of the project:

Njhorseman thank you, I had some people negative arguing with me/against me glad to hear somebody else knows what is really going on like I do. Somebody actually said something that I think of only bad things but in reality its being smart to open ones eyes, know the facts and be prepared and make sure you safe. Its nieve people like actually find themselves in trouble or the trust somebody they think is doing the right thing.

Im sorry but I see an accident that very well could happen since this dock is not fully completed and totally safe. Well I said my peace lets hope there be no accidents!

Bermuda is a beautiful island with lots to do, including at night. I have been to Bermuda many times and always find exciting things to do. Right at the cruise port in King's Wharf there is a couple of nightlife opportunities, Bonefish Bar and Grill and Frog and Onion Pub. Take the Bermuda Triangle night cruise excursion and see ocean life at night.

On Board the Breakaway there is also so much to do. There are shows every night, Comedy Club, Jazz Club, Howling at the Moon Dueling Piano Bars, Movies under the stars and a multitude of options provided in every lounge venue. You can find plenty to do without a couple of nights of gambling. Once they are open though I will say they have one of the largest Casinos I have seen at sea. I love this ship! :D

Bermuda now allows (or will next season - I'm not sure when the law either took effect or will take effect) casinos on cruise ships to operate between 9:00pm and 5:00am while docked in Bermuda. Here's a story to an article last month:

I was compt a cruise from a casino on NCL and had a choice Bermuda or Florida Bahamas. I like to gamble that's my thing I like to do so of course I chose Florida/Bahamas Why did you chose Bermuda? I would not have and did not chose Bermuda because of the no gambling law. Your not making sense.

You're not making sense, perhaps you tried to reply to someone that posted in this thread over six months ago?
