Carnival Ocean Players Club - Lost a decent casino player...

Recommended Posts

Just returned from the Dream and I am so disappointed with the Oceans Players Club. I don’t gamble for comps, but do like to see the play given acknowledged. Unfortunately for Carnivals casino, they just lost a 10,000 point slot player and table player. (yes this is my vice of choice, but no more here)

On board, I thought it was pretty “tacky” to send complementary gifts with two (2) cards, one with my name and one with DH’s name, but one (1) gift, (cookies, wine, etc.) for both of us in essence minimizing our play perks to the cabin and not the individual. But it was a perk, so I said, whatever.

Upon returning from the trip, I contacted the club to see what amenities would be available to me and my DH for our upcoming July cruise. We were offered $75.00 each for the trip and nothing else. They have a “supposedly new” for rating table players, but still did not have any rating for me at the tables in spite of them swiping my card and also asking them for my rating before leaving the table. My average table play is approx. $180-$200 and not one record of 4 days of play on top of the slot play. At that level of play, it was pretty insulting and shows that they don’t much value their casino guest. I will still play, but not at the same level and save my gambling $’s for another casino venue. They would not even honor the casino letter with Cash back that we received on the last morning. (Unlike) (#lostagambler)….just saying...

DW played 5600 points worth of slots on our 4 day cruise -- 3 months later, she played 7500 points worth of slots on a 5 day cruise. when booking our latest cruise she thought she would call and see if she qualified for anything -- and was pretty much laughed at by the person who answered the phone ---

meanwhile -- i see others getting perks from 1500 points on 7 day cruises -- i wonder if it's because SO came out ahead of the game -- (she basically paid for both of our vacations with Carnival slot winnings).

If you find another high end cruise line that gives you more, please let me know.

However, the Casino is only a small part of the overall holiday. And only a small part of the business for the cruise line.

My wife and I enjoy the Casino, but if we want perks, we go to Las Vegas.

In fact your Carnival play points are transferrable to the Palazzo in Vegas.

I highly recommend you contact them and see what they will offer you.

We get a fantastic suite free for three days, meals and slot credits.

Once we arrive, and they see our level of play we almost always get even more...

It has been our experience the the more we win, the more they offer us. Basically in an attempt to get their money back.

You are complaining about a free $75 ... sorry but I cant feel too bad for you. Some get free cruises offered, but not the departure port they wanted. You called on a already booked cruise asking for comps and were offered $75 and not happy?

they dont always give huge amounts of free cash on cruises you picked out.. its the ones they pick out. You want a lot it sounds like to make you happy. This isnt vegas. you might be happier in vegas where they comp for table play better.

I agree . Our next cruise will likely be with NCL. One cruise I lost over 10K and they gave me $300 our next cruise ,that's an insult!!

NCL is partially owned by a casino and I hear from my gambling buddies on here they treat players well

Some people don't understand casinos and comping. I am pissed at M-Life on land, meanwhile, because last weekend they hosed me after we gambled more than usual, but because we were there 3 nights they played games with our average play to give us $22 total instead of the more typical free night (which we have gotten for less play). The amount they gave me didn't even cover the freaking resort fee!

/I know, a bit OT

Sheezes you get free stuff and still complain? Carnival doesn't have to give you a thing...$75 is free money, you didn't earn the money you earned the privledge of receiving bonuses such as this. Then you complain you only receive one cookie, wine, etc? When you order such items in bon voyage its for the cabin or the table not each individual person, there is enough for 2-4 people.

My other half is in the "high rollers" (what they call it lol ) and we always get bottles of wine, chocolate covered strawberries, he gets immediate free cocktail card, etc and we never imagined to complain because we only received one item. I don't expect two again its a courtesy of carnival to give out such gifts, its not to be expected after all when you play in a casino your taking chance of loosing or winning.

Winniepegcruiser- We also going to the Palazzo again this October (we were just there in April) I just called them they said there is no such program is there a special number you call or special department to get thise perks?

For the life of me I cannot get why cruise lines do not track overall spending and reward those of us who actually spend money when we cruise. We actually pick our balcony cabin, buy pictures ,buy bottles from bon voyage ,buy a few drinks at the bars and gamble ALOT.Its our choice I know but its what we like to do

Some people cruise for $499 pp for the week and dont spend a penny onboard, wouldnt it be good for them to let some cruise free because we subsidize some cruisers fare

Don't cruise with them for 18mos-2 years. After getting multiple offers for the $75 free they'll send you a free cruise. Of course it will be sailings of their choice, but when they see you haven't cruised with them in 2 years they'll try to win you back.

At least that is what they did for me. I gamble around the same level you do (at least from the sound of it). I still haven't gone back on Carnival yet, but they did offer me any sailing I wanted in April with a balcony room.

On our last cruise myself and my fiancé each had about 8500 in points for a 7 day cruise. We routinely get letters with discounted cruises and even a free cruise but we couldn't go due to the time and place it departed. On our upcoming cruise we get Esch $125 and we ech get the drinks on us card. I think those are descent perks for a cruise ship. Especially with drink prices :)

Oooooo... Thanks for the tip. I am Diamond level with Caesars, mostly because of all of their different locations. We do Vegas about 2X's a year as well, and am looking for another place to stay. Is Palazzo the only Carnival partner?

If you are diamond with Caesars you should be looking at NCL . They own NCL :)

You never get the NCL cruise offers from Total rewards ?

Already had the $75 bucks, but since that was based on play not as strong on a cruise last year, I had hoped that they would re-evaluate the more recent play since I "HAD" intended to play again. Not asking for alot, only consideration for more recent play. Thanks for the reply...

I get it, really. I also get that this is Carnival, home of the cheap cruises.

I ran into a guy on RCL who cruises on RCL not CCL because of the gambling. He was able to call up and get money off his cruise because he gambles a lot. Couldnt with Carnival.

I think you have to know who you are dealing with. Carnival is so cheap its almost free except for what you spend onboard as it is.

Im sorry people are offended by my remark that if you already had booked the cruise that you should not be so offended when they say ok we will throw in $75.

There are also some totally free cruises, just pay taxes that Carnival offers to its gamblers, but they may not be the ones you want is all.

Carnival is cheap, their loyalty rewards and perks are also much less than other more expensive lines. Thats why Im surprised that you are so surprised.

I love getting free wine on RCL or mixed drinks on newer ships as a perk. But if I say so here, people will tell me.. they love Carnival because of the low prices... not for the perks which everyone knows are not as good.

Sorry that you are upset and that I upset you further. Its what I expect of Carnival was my point.

lyndamr,

You are absolutely correct. I have mistakenly been basing my gambling entertainment on land based casino standards. However, I have also been paying attention the other cruisers' on the ship that did not come close to the play level that I have been giving them and they seemed to make out much better. Again not about the free stuff, but I am an individual that spends my money, so I did expect to be rated and if comped (at their discretion), then that is also based on my "individual" contribution. If the other person in my cabin were not my husband, I would not expect to share the amenity with them.

The same for having "two" platinum people in a cabin and receive only one gift because we are married.

No Harm No Foul... As I stated, I have changed MY expectations and will alter MY play accordingly.

I won $4K on a hand of Let Itr Ride back in 08! I just got a Casino offer and took advantage of it! It was better than any other rate available.

They all should give better perks to those that spend money on cruises. NCL's casino was great last year - but no perks after the cruise.

Yea, I know, I have picked up a couple of the vouchers for free cruises, but they didn't have any Carribean itineraries that we could take during the time that we can travel.

Fire,

Again, I "already" had the $75 from when I booked based on play from 2012. I would have thought that more recent play could have been taken into consideration. I don't believe that it is unreasonable to ask. I did. And they answered. They have control over the comps, I have control on where my gambling $ will go in the future.

Fire,

Please do not mistake my attempt to help "clarify" my position to your responses as being upset. However, your responses seemed a bit accusotory and flippant that I should have "any" expectations. I don't agree with your position and apologize if my responses to your reply's have come across as hostile as that is not my intent. Merely clarity.

I am not a novice to casino entertainment and my OP was only to express my dissapointment in their program. Thank you for your feed back.

For a person who doesn't gamble for the comps, you do complain a lot about comps.
