According to KTUU news, electrical problems on the Celebrity Millenium have the ship stuck in Seward. Scheduled to depart yesterday (8/9), the ship is remaining in port until at least Tuesday of this week. For more information, go to http://www.ktuu.com

I thought that too since they could do so with a minimum of disruption to the rest of the season. I do feel sorry for those whose vacation plans have been altered.

This issue is currently being discussed on the Celebrity board. They will spend four days in Seward, and then head directly to Vancouver. And the compensation to the passengers is more than generous.

Celebrity boards says 100% refund and 100% future cruise credit if they stay onboard. Celebrity has reacted well and timely with this incident it appears.

Agreed! Sad for those onboard and this was their one chance to see Alaska.

This is the same deal I got for a canceled 9-12-01 Alaska Carnival cruise.

 

I do hope, there aren't further delays. Sometimes in Alaska with the remoteness, extra delays can easily happen.

Not a done deal yet. We'll see if they're able to depart on Tuesday. Certainly a great opportunity to explore the peninsula if they can get transportation.

If I was on board I'd be doing salmon and halibut fishing, take the train up north and back, and having a great time. It's like a free week's stay at the best possible hotel in Seward. Of course, we'd be going to Safeway right down the street to stock up!

I think Celebrity has stepped up with a nice compensation. I agree I would be doing all of the things I wanted to do in Seward and did not have time for.

 

I think this will be a bigger deal for those that cruise less often.
